I don't always have time to read the DYSAGT thread so I haven't really kept up with all your sightings, but having read this post, and especially the parts about you working for Ferrari, driving a Dino and riding in an Enzo, you sir are a Class A Lucky Git :D Kudos to you, and I hope you get all your "hopeful sightings" in the coming year 👍

Whew!! Awesome thread with some fantastic cars indeed! Great job chronicling all this, and good luck in 2009!! -kevin

Wow, what a great year. Even though there may not have been super-ultra-mega-sightings, the sum of cars and the uniqueness of some of them makes it special.

I see that you're looking for a ZR1. Good luck. I've yet to see any blip of one on the insane Corvette-friendly West Michigan, but I'm sure that as the weather warms up this spring, they'll inch out early just like the Z06s do.

Doug, I take it you're hoping to see a SL65 Black without its camo. ;)

Congrats on the spots this year.

Congratuations on the spots this year Doug 👍. Your input onto this site is really appreciated.

Geeez. I never knew that you got to ride in that Enzo as well. And then there's all of your daily spottings. I think a lot of us are very jealous of that. I haven't noticed much of anything good in a while, save the occasional 'Vette.

Thanks for all of the automotive porn you've posted over the years, Doug!

You need to add the Alfa 8C to your list, someone down south has to have one by now.

Great year though, truly some awesome spots 👍!

I've drooled over hundreds of your photos. Great work! I wish you the best of luck on the sightings you've yet to catch!

I regret not walking up to your car window and shaking your hand when I had the chance. You're going to be doing photography for Car & Driver before long. :p

Wow dude, I have to say.....

i hate you, i hate you, i hate you, i hate you, i hate you..........i hate you

1. You get to work with Ferraris during the summer
2. You've gotten to DRIVE and RIDE in Ferraris
3. You see types of cars twice a day that I'm lucky to see twice a YEAR.

In all seriousness, I love your enthusiasm for cars. I'm very much the same way. The instant I see a cool car, I'm on the phone with my best friend.

This year was rather good for me though...I saw an Aston Martin Vanquish, Murcielago LP640, Maserati Quattroporte (I have it on film, and a few months later, the owner pulled into my work with it), early 60s Jaguar E-type, TWO Ford GTs, Lexus ISF, Shelby GT350 (driving in the rain), and a 360 Modena. Not too bad for the foothills of NC :) .

Oh man! Doug, the work you put into all this is phenomenal. Great job! I hope it never gets dull for you. There's a whole lot of cars in a whole lots of interesting places, it makes you wonder how some exotic owners think. Some seem to just behave differently than other people. Must be something the cars just do to you. It'd be interesting to find out. Find out for us!

Doug, thanks for taking the effort once again to chronicle your year of special motoring sightings, I especially like the shots of the 365 and the Dino, along with the Enzo. The photo of the Black series is also worthy of accolades.
I can only hope to one day possess the dedication that you show to your hobby. What dream spots do you have yet to tick off?

Best of luck for 2009!

Exotic car owners are so freaking weird - truly among the strangest people in existence. I have been behind several exotic car owners who simply drove in loops.

Geee, what would I do if I was being tailed by a man with a camera driving an anonymous-looking sedan? I wonder...
💡

Great photos and anecdotes Doug! As you know, your spots always encourage me to go out and get photos although recently I haven't been able to get out as much as I'd like to, which is a shame but hopefully in the New Year I'll be back to my old ways. Anyway, here's to a great car-spotting 2008 and an even better 2009!

Washington and Montana are rather interesting plate spots. Especially seeing 6 Montana plates.

It's a great hobby you have here. Good luck with it in the future. I think all of us here appreciate all the work you put in to it and the results you get out.

Doug old man, I must call "shenanigans".
Not because I don't believe you've seen all these cars.
But because you work at a Ferrari dealer.
You need some sort of "game multiplyer" to even the field for the rest of us that don't have the luscious smell of Italian Leather in our noses each and every day!

Congrats on all the sightings
Merry Christmas!!

false.

Your best spot to date is the bunch of 1934 Packards, but they are not even mentioned here. oh my.

You said that those were not the cup of tea of this forum, but neither yours.

The Berlinetta Boxer should have won.

So? I was the only one who made a ruckus about the Superbird and you mentioned it, and even if we both were the only ones that paid attention to the Packards, they WERE the coolest cars you saw.

I was gonna say the Superbird but nah, too obvious from me, and I think the Boxer is way cooler a Ferrari, even if the more-cam is rarer (:

well it depends on a lot of things, like, for example, if they are eight or twelve cilinders, if they are Phaetons (like both in the pics, dual cowls by the way) or sedans or roadsters (in the first pic, the car behind the pillar seems to be some kind of open sedan or limo, but the pillar does not let us see), but for 1933-1935 Packars I could not find a price for less than 150k, and that one needed restoration!! O_o I did not know these were so valuable. I think you may have seen several millions that day, Doug.
