Hey guys. So i recently wiped my Boot Camp partition as i was running out of space. I tried re-partitioning it w/ boot camp with a bigger allocated size for it but OS X spit out an error saying "Some files couldn't be moved". I've googled this problem and have tried some suggestions (going into single user mode and running fsck -fy, restarting the computer, etc) but to know avail. I really dont want to buy iDefrag, which apparently solves the solution. Does anyone have GTP have a solution to my problem?

Thanks in Advance

EDIT:Fixed

I don't understand the question. Are you trying to make a bigger Boot Camp partition or a bigger Mac OS X partition? Which partition is running out of space? How much free space is on the drive?

Without further information, my suggestion would be to get a newer, bigger drive and clone the contents over. Defragmentation sounds like a band-aid fix, and you're likely to run into trouble later if you are truly starved for space.

If you have a spare external drive, simply cloning the contents over and then back to the original drive will defragment all files.

I had an older boot camp partition with 25gb...i deleted this partition to create to larger boot camp partition. This is where the error occurs. Mac OS X says that "some files needs to be moved". I had 42gb of free space with the 25gb partition/68gb when it was removed.

In that case, you could go with iDefrag or an external drive to clone over. If you take the latter route, you can use the external drive for Time Machine backup if you wanted to. If you can borrow an drive from a friend, then that would be a cheap fix.

thats the one solution im trying to avoid but i guess i'll go that route if i cant fix the problem next time. Just managed to partition it today :)
