Makeshift Shuffle - No Tuning RacesOpen

Was real fun tonight!

Now I have that issue of not being able to watch the replays. Really wanted to see that last one but I guess I'll have to skip that.

This is so great Melon
It's like a new game mode for me !
PD should hire you :D
I was 1st yesterday without even having the miata in one single race !
Thank you very much for a great experience that should have been in the game

Congrats!

I hadn't noticed that, but you're right. You only used the Miata in the spec race.
Not only that, but you got DQ'd for one race. :boggled:  So that's pretty darn good.
Proving, you don't even have to participate in all the races, to win for points!

There was a fierce battle for 2nd in points.
5 people had 2nd place points. One had a penalty, and the others I just counted up podiums to break the tie.

That was the original thinking behind this idea of mine. That it would be more about the battle for points in the end. So it doesn't really matter if your chances at 1st place in some races are slim to nearly none... the idea is, if you do as best you can with what you're given, the battle at the back is every bit as important in the end for actually winning for points.

If I was deciding how the room settings would work... OH BOY! lol
I wish you could just choose the specific cars in the list with the right regulations, so people could only pick the cars in the list.
I also wish you could set it up to Championship mode with a list of points where it would keep track as you go!

I also, of course, wish there was password rooms instead of only public or friends-only.
There are now over 30 people who've raced or signed up as interested.

And now once a session I get a sad PM on PSN saying "You kicked me while I was looking at the list".
*sigh* :boggled: Why they don't speak up and say what they're doing, I don't know.
MOST of the people who eventually join in, who are not posting here on the thread, are people I shuffled w/ in gt5, of course.
Not that I remember well everyone's name.
Frankly, I remember the trouble makers' names best.  They make a more lasting impression.

Aww lost out on second because I didn't have enough podiums. :P Maybe if that last corner in the last race would have gone better. ^^

That crash was so weird because people started crashing from both sides and i just kept going straight through everything but then finally someone crashed hard enough in to me and I was also out. Really thought I would miraculously make it through :P

Edit: Wasn't it a little impressive to make it to split second with only one podium by the way? A bit worthless and a bit impressive.

I can't make any more weekday races unless it is a holiday. I am taking the better half to NYC today, and we go back to school on Monday. :banghead:

Will try to make tonight may be running late though so might end up missing first few races. Also sorry about any contact during not sure what was up with my connection and the amount of lag.

Yeah, my wife travels up here for work. I am on the Acela WiFi with my Espresso, looking at the beauty of the picturesque New Jersey industrial area we pass through approaching the city.

Sylar, sorry about your connection woes. Do you run Ethernet directly to the PS3 or go wireless from a router?

Ethernet cable running directly from PS3 to router. Something was definitely up with connection as afterwards though went online using PC and browsing net seemed slower than usual. Hopefully it's back to normal tonight when get home.

Yeah we should probably keep an eye when there's any signs of lag, and maybe have people back out & rejoin the room to see if that helps.
Definitely saw some jumpy bits with Sylar(kirk)... and a couple of other people here & there.. but mainly around Sylar, so I think maybe Sylar's connection was unfortunately making for some oddness in the draft at Daytona especially in that 1st 2 incidents of bumping on lap 1or 3 or whenever it was that Handlebar & Whitey got bumped around.

Oh, and if anyone's wondering... I've kept the slipstream at "weak" in this instead of "real" for one big reason... Because there are differences in these cars in straight line speeds, and I'm worried if we set the slipstream at real, we'll have less chance for people in the slower cars to keep up in a draft, and I think keeping it at "weak" makes for closer racing in that respect.

NOTE:

I will be getting on EARLY, to start doing test laps on Deep Forest for a combined list.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/time-trial-testing-mixer-makeshift-shuffle.295260/

I want to combine the Vintage Road Cars & the Vintage Sports Cars into a combined list, so we have more cars in the list... so that there's more variables, and we can cut down on too many people getting into the Miata, and having 2 people in the Civic... Make it more interesting & more exciting, and maybe make the differences more gradual.

But I want to be sure they're ordered sensibly!

I would appreciate others' help in testing both lists on the Time Trials thread. 👍
Don't worry if you don't think you're fast enough to do testing because that doesn't matter.

A) you have a good shot at being faster than me anyhow
B) the data is even more useful if we have a variety of drivers testing 💡

The purpose of my testing is to measure the cars against each other.
The fun is comparing times with different drivers.

If you like test driving cars, and want to better the chances that we have good lists to work with, jump on in and start testing the cars & report your times. :)
* and you don't have to do them all at once... it's fine if it takes you days to get times for all the cars on a track
* you may also test all cars on the track of your choice and report - like if you're not interested in driving on the tracks we're testing on, it's just as useful to me if you test all the cars on a track you like and report the times. What really matters is that all the cars are tested against each other on one track.

Oh, and I forgot to mention in the room because I was distracted in real life. what I forgot to mention was that I got distracted by real life during one of the races.
At Deep Forest I apologize if I swerved a bit going into Turn #1. :guilty: That's so embarrassing because I'm such a stickler for caution at the first turn, then I go & blow it there sometimes myself.
Anyway, I had a cat-problem.
The kitten - he jumped on the ledge in front of the tv, and was obstructing my view trying to grab at the screen. Then, my other cat decided she wanted to get on my lap, and I wound up driving with her awkwardly perched on my lap with her butt leaning on my arm :boggled:, and she REFUSED to move the entire race. In the past I've tried nudging her off, but sometimes then she'll stick a claw into my thigh and then that's worse! :scared: So I just tried to ignore her, and the kitten, and soldiered on! And I was so happy that I did fairly well after the 1st lap, despite the ridiculousness going on.

On the up side, I told my spouse about it, and he moved the tv forward, so there's no longer a kitten sized ledge in front of it. yay! :)

Here's a video of the kitten & what he does
(He's been fascinated with the tv ever since I got GT6! In particular - the arrows & dots on the maps seem to be perfectly designed to attract kitten attention!)

During a race, he sits & watches the track map at the left & swats at it.

And on the GT6 main menu, he goes NUTS for those bubbles that float around. :banghead:

Awwww we need more kitten GT6 videos! Maybe they should do their commercials like that, no one could resist!
