Makeshift Shuffle - No Tuning RacesOpen

I'm terrible when I get the Megane, I'm totally inconsistent with the Golf, and I don't seem to be able to get the most out of the Seat.
Handlebar seems to make the most out of getting the Seat, but clearly hates the PT Loser Not like anyone LIKES the PT (or I don't think so lol), but whereas Kling tends to do pretty well on average in the PT Cruiser Some actually seem to be able to get more out of the PT Cruiser.

Not 100% sure and this is why. I was running 2nd place. Got shunted and then someone also broke my engine by 100% stopping mid corner and I crash into them. So I come 2nd last.

So I get the ibiza and start second. Ain't no one going to catch me with a megane or the person 1st on the grid unless they literally fall off the track.

So not only are you at the front of the pack, also have the massively faster car. last week I pulled out a 8 second lead in same situation. Game over man.

PT cruiser I started 6th or 7th on grid and came 3rd by 0.01 of a second on nurburg. The car is fine but impossible for me to catch first place Ibiza. Too far ahead. I saved replay.

ALl the other cars are say within a second or so a lap. The Ibiza is 2 seconds quicker a lap and you get it when you start in first:/

Man, I guess you never got one of the old vintage muscle cars at Monza in shuffle.

Well this is an example of a grid in my Lo PP Shuffle in GT5 (a very popular always near capacity shuffle lobby):

20120821lemons03s.jpg

Mazda2, Miata, Swift, Alfa Romeo Spider 66, Lupo, March, Yaris, Alfa Romeo Special 63,
Isuzu 117coupe, Honda 1300 Coupe... all in the same race. (Sometimes a Cosmo would get thrown in there.)

i'm not sure what your point is? i also ran a shuffle/spec lobby in GT5 and had a huge following. i also avoided the pp with the muscle cars....which actually aren't too bad when you're on a course that doesn't top out.

as i said good luck. i'm sure there are those out there that want to race and not have a chance from the get go at winning, and just want to race around mid-pack.

and before you criticize my list again, i spent only 1 HOUR, going through the dealerships and putting the cars in Excel. excuse me for not doing 1000 hours of research in 1 hour.

I enjoyed yesterday's race's, especially driving thru the field up into 2nd place in the Nurburgring race:)...... and then getting my doors blown off by two cars going down the Dottinger straight at the end of the lap:eek:

Melon - I would be happy to test drive the commuter cars if you need it?

I need some more miles for the Autobarmy trophy:dopey: so it wouldn't be any trouble.

See you at the tracks!

Listen, I'm not trying to discourage anyone's way of doing things that's different. As I said, anyone is free to go make their OWN series and run it however they wish!
💡

I have my idea, and if anyone's interested to participate, or not, they can choose either way. Nobody's arms are being twisted here. And I won't have mine twisted either, to race in cars that I have no interest in. I'm certainly not interested in organizing and hosting racing that I don't like!
And nobody should bother participating in racing they don't like either! That's just silly.

We're here to enjoy ourselves. Or at least that's the purpose I see.

Sail, if you want to test cars, get in on the Time Trial testing for NEW LISTS.

The commuter cars list was just what I brought out for the initial introductory phase of this series.
It was never meant to be the end-all be-all. It was originally meant to be for a limited series on city tracks and street-racing type custom courses.

Watermelon -
Here's my results (best lap) for the commuter cars:
I ran them for five laps at Deep Forest in Arcade-Time Trial:
  1. Chrysler PT Cruiser '00..............1:41.279
  2. Renault Megane 2.0 16V '03.......1:41.147
  3. Volkswagen Golf IV GTI '01........1:40.038
  4. Alfa Romeo 147 TI 2.0 TWIN......1:40.001
  5. Peugeot 307 XSi '04..................1:39.473
  6. BMW 120i '04...........................1:38.991
  7. Suzuki SWIFT Sport '05.............1:38.982
  8. Hyundai Tiburon Turbulence.......1:37.441
  9. Honda Civic SiR-II '91................1:36.234
  10. Seat Ibiza Cupra '04..................1:35.050
A nice group of cars.👍 The Seat Cupra is a bit strong, so I've added two more cars at the speedier end.
Sail, if you want to test cars, get in on the Time Trial testing for NEW LISTS.

I've just started buying the cars you mention above, so I will start running them at Deep Forest and see how they do.

I will run the next group on-line if I figure out how to set it up properly.

Off to the Dealerships!:)

The next racing wiill take place on Tues.

I have the race info in post #2
sign-up in post #3

I'm also going to be setting a ilst of tracks for the event.
I've thought about this ... and I think just having predetermined races, will ease up on the amount of time spent deciding tracks, get us on track more, and in racing more... And also be sure to have a variety, and those suitable to the cars.

So I thought we'd try that out on Tuesday, and see how that goes... and if it works out to be more efficient, I'll go wiht that.

Still ANYONE CAN JOIN AT ANY TIME DURING THE SESSION.
All welcome, as soon as you can.
You can come on time & leave early as well, if that's what your schedule allows.

Maybe we'll do this one for points though. But it would be a flat point system. In other words you get 8 points if you win a race with 8 cars, and 12 points for winning a race with 12 cars. And so forth. (Make it more fair to those who win with a larger grid.)
I wonder if this could encourage everyone to really do their best no matter what car they get, because in the end, the points will count. So you'll want to really battle for that position to the very last.
I do that anyway. I will fight to the bitter end to not come in last! But maybe we all could use a little more incentive & a bit more of a game to it. :sly:

Well, we'll try this out, and see how it goes.

I'm back home after christmas so I might join for some new years eve fun. Not absolutely sure yet because I have a lot of schoolwork to do, but maybe I can take a brake on new years eve. :P

I played around with a few on the Matterhorn course, it was surprising in several areas. I was only using the DS3 and automatic transmission, so... Some things will definitely change in manual.

Unsurprisingly, the low hp cars labored to go up the slope, hitting maybe 40-45 at the low point. The Miata and Celica felt faster, but when it got steep, they were 55-60 mph. With that, I was sure they would crush the Abarth and the Mini Marcos, but it was closer than I expected.

Going downhill and keeping speed with judicious braking was exciting. In a racing format at Matterhorn, I can see some real high octane and exciting moments, involving braking in a 1960's or '70's econo-box cars. Not that it will become a full fledged racing series, but it takes some real creativity to make the brakes in a +/- 100 hp car the focus of excitement. Watermelon, well done. This could be fun!

I like the Miata - it comes with the hidden double stripes - classy.

yes, the hidden stripes!! :D

hope everyone has added: MX-5 Miata (NA) '89
👍

We shall see how it goes.

I will be opening up a room early labeled "testing" where I'm going to be testing a few cars for the Time Trial Testing.

Fun racing tonight, there always seemed to be good battles for positions throughout the entire race and everyone was closely grouped. The cars seemed pretty evenly matched in terms of overall lap times also fact most of the cars were rear wheel drive rather than front was pretty fun, although the golf / civic are actually pretty nice to drive and didn't seem to suffer from that much understeer. Although did completely forget about vintage cars having vintage brakes at end of mulsanne straight in first race and missed breaking point entirely.

Should be able to make Thursday night and picked up the other car lists in post so now have complete set of
CC / VSC/ VRC / LRC cars for future races.

That Skyline... Ugh... Befuddled me, heavy coprolite of a car...

Sylar, you did much better in that than I could, good racing!

We need to start having a 1 lap "preliminary race" to clear this problem. I'm a good sport, really I am, but I'm tired of always starting way way out behind like a pariah for the start of every 1st race of the session. :boggled:

If you look really hard you can see the vague shape of a handle bar mustache in that puff of smoke. :sly:

Haha great pictures! :D

Was looking real good for me until i drove that ship on eiger.. haha messed it up all by myself trying to make it turn faster by pulling the handbrake though. ^^

And that oval, yeah that just didn't work for me...

Edit: haha just had to do some counting, because I'm nerdy too.. and seems I was leading all the way up to the last race (ok I lost the lead once when I got last place, but got it back again by getting first in next race). But that last oval really went bad for me.. not only did I end up second to last, my main competitors came first and third. ^^

Was too long since I drove that Cube oval series!

I won the race and got last by using the miata? That is hard Miss Melon, do you work for Bernie or something? :P

Next race i won't test the slower car for you! Dam that autobianchi was slow, but it should be fun for a spec race, it corners well, just don't use 4th gear going uphill and you will be fine lol.

Fun races everyone, we need to make more lists, i will see what i can do to help test the cars.

@watermelonpunch, i think we should have a official drivers list set before the race, this way you won't need to be checking if everyone has the cars and etc. If someone new comes up, just send the informations and he can join next week. Tell me what you think.

Happy new year everyone!!!

Haha you didn't even get last Leo, you got DQ'd for using the wrong car. :P

I wonder if the Autobianchi would have been as bad on all tracks? maybe it was just too much uphill on that one..

Edit: it is fun to see the winners struggle though ^^ but I guess it's a bit counter productive if they get the fastest car next time..

Edit: I really think it can't climb Matterhorn lol
That was my first thought when I saw you struggling the Autobianchi up hill on Trial Mountain. :scared: I'm not sure it would make it up Matterhorn.

But yeah, it's a great car on its own. It does corner quite nicely, and it's not bad to drive.
