March-Update/DLC delayed

I was watching the photostream and I must say there are a lot of quality pictures there. But I can't help but think, how did this guy manage this:

Try a 5 lap race in a dirty racing lobby. There will be 16 cars looking like that LOL

I feel this way too...

Whenever I take a "stunning good" (in my opinion) picture, it feels outwashed and grainy when I upload it to my PC. Looks alot better on the TV, before uploading.

Try calibrating your TV screen and PC monitor/screen. It might help.

Yea I get the exact same feeling. I take a photo and see it on my HDTV where I am, "ZOMG, this is the most realistic ever!!"....and then I upload it to my PC. I am then like, "Oh, that's nice...I guess.":)

Check to see if your TV's Dynamic Contrast setting is on, that'll really mess with you.
On Topic, I don't mind waiting a few more weeks, and neither should everyone, besides it's only the 15th, It may be coming out later this month, It may had a release date of today, so It still has a chance of coming out in March.
 
Patience is a virtue. I would much rather have them delay the update and DLC to get it right and make sure everything is tested and ready than receive an update that needs an update. Take all the time you need PD.

You're right, I notice a lot of people are just assuming it's delayed until April when the website says it's just a delay, not when its delayed until. Like you said, it could come out next week or three weeks from now. Fingers crossed.

I think that based on past unsucessful update experiences, they decided to test these ones for a longer time, and first in Japan, where the public is smaller and well, it's near their "house", making it quicker to fix stuff.
 
Its just a delay. The world isn't gonna end just because the update is delayed. Everyone just needs to relax. (medicated brownies anyone, lol.)

They wouldn't have to mentioned a delay if it was coming out in March, as they never specified a date in March.

From what I understand the update hasn't released in Asia, just the photo stream. It seems like that's a change made on PD's side, not the users side. PD is just pulling shared photos, no other changes have been made.

I agree.

I don't understand how photo stream and the next GT5 update are linked issues at all. I think they just mistakingly linked the two issues in their previous announcement, because they maybe were set to coincide.
 
Well, I didn't know the Freddy Charlier monument was in the game. I also laughed at one or two images in the stream; a Bob pointing at the man in Kyoto / Gion, or a glitchy RX-7, or a rocket 86, for example.

Thinking about it, it's quite brave of PD to have this (thinking now mostly in terms of the RX7 glitch) sort of "semi-officially" on their own website.

I wonder what it is in the update that is causing the delay. Clearly the photostream is working without the update...
 
It is surprising to see they allow glitchy or negative photos but it shows they are being pulled at random and at least so far not screened before going up. And I think the photos that show off the game will far out number the bad ones.
 
I used to anticipate PD next move as far as updates and DLC. Photostream? Really? I give up. Can we just get new Premi's or sum Standard conversions? Im tired of this pointless changes in these updates. I accept bug fixes and patches but PD is being dicks. Can we get new rims or aero kits or new tracks or performance parts?
 
I'm waiting to hear from someone in Japan / Hong Kong as to whether there is any info about the photostream, given it's now live for those regions, and, of course, the update itself.

As it stands, we know nothing about the update, and the photostream appears to be working without it.

How do you know photostream is the only thing being added? The update itself hasn't come out for anyone yet, while photostream has for Asia so obviously it's going to be more than just photostream.

Your right. I take back what I said from the first page for sure. :) Maybe the update and DLC will be big for all we know. :D That's the thing I like about waiting for PD to release something, (well not sure about GT5 but it's better now at least.) 👍 My fingers are crossed for GT4 track pack featuring GT4's tracks and Pikes Peak. :drool:
 
The problem with PD is that they are adding features that nobody ever asked for, or even imagined of. As a company that wants to make money, I think they should try addressing what their customers want. They try to be unique, but in a bad way, it seems, since all the new features (namely this) don't engage the gamers a lot.

Someone should convince them to make a account here at GTPlanet. Chatting and them ideas won't seem to bad right? :sly: It'll make everything a lot more easier if they did. :)
 
Maybe they can creates a polling system for GTP so we can for vote which new feature(s) we'd like to have in the game the most? For instance, in terms of new features (not content like cars or tracks but a livery editor or new photo mode locations, or new coarse maker themes, etc) if let's say the livery editor won that poll, it'd be the next thing to be implemented. Or the top two choices, in the event PD decided to add two new options in one upgrade.

It's like the, "you get to choose which apples you want to buy, right?" sort of thing. It's a poll based on a limited selection of options.

Features like Photo Stream probably were planned since the beginning of GT5 brainstorming process... I doubt they decided to add this like 3 months ago.

It's all part of PD "GT Vision" I think.

And GT5 updates & progress seem really like this... it's being completed on the fly.

Yeah, it seems likely. The development (with respect to some very distant end-goal) is just sort of progressing, irrespective of deadlines (for better or worse) and now we have the fortunate ability to receive updates as and when they're completed. Or to have to wait for them a bit longer until they are. It's more "organic", but I can see why people get annoyed. It's like that whole "games as a service" thing again. I mean, look at this post:

It's exactly the sort of attitude I was talking about. "If PD want to make money" - I'm pretty sure they've done that bit. I would rather they surprise me with things I didn't even know I wanted. I can get what I want whenever I want from other things (chiefly my imagination), so having something that isn't me-centric every now and then would be nice, especially if it's something that surpasses my imagination.
Overall, I'd rather buy games from a company that wants to make games over buying from a company that wants to make money.


Oh, and we still don't know what's in this update yet. Can nobody conceive of what it could be? Photostream clearly works, so why is the update delayed?
