What does Photo stream Do exactly?

You take a photo and set it to "Share With Friends."

Then it may randomly be selected to go here:

http://www.gran-turismo.com/hk/gt5/photo/

which seems to change photos hourly.

Edit: It seems to add new photos and take out old ones approximately hourly, in a stream effect. I guess that's where the name comes from.

Thanks for the reply mate.

A bit like the photo mode thread but not as good then.

I'm all up for new features being added, but this photo share seems pointless to me.

I love this concept, and can't wait for it to go live in the US.

I like how everybody becomes an expert in times like these. Why don't we just wait for more news or see what actually happens before we go making assumptions and factless statements.

Are you referring to my post? Because I do have evidence to support it.

DLC is expected every two months, and March is supposed to be the release date of the fourth DLC pack. There also happens to be an update in March, which is something that is seen along with the release of DLC packs in the past. Certain updates = DLC added. Since the update for March is delayed, so is, presumably, the DLC.

No need to get your panties in a wad, I was referring to everyone in general. All we know for sure is what the updated news has told us. Also, you can't always go from past history as PD/Sony can change it at any time so even your statements can be considered as assumptions. People start assuming things and expecting things based on past experiences and if it don't happen the way they think it should, the become disappointed and thus crying and complaining follows. All I'm saying is lets just wait for more news or to see what actually happens, thats all.

There are two types of people here, those who assume just for the hell of it, and those who assume based on past evidence.

Those who assume just for the hell of it are the ones who will be disappointed the most. They expect a Porsche pack for no reason, and then find that they've actually been given a new Skyline. These are the ones who cry and complain, and they are the ones who you can go up to and say, "well, what did you expect?"

Those who assume based on past evidence will probably be disappointed as well, but at least they are assuming logically, and there's no arguing in that.

Like I said, why assume at all. Reguardless of the logic you want to put behind it, you are just getting everyboby elses hopes and expectations up. Anyway, you can waste your time making assumptions while I move on and see what actually happens when it does. 👍

What is it that you love about the concept?

I like photomode, and I think this concept will help showcase some amazing shots.

I also find it a million times more useful than horns.

Features like this allow gearheads to express themselves off the track. How is that a bad thing?

PD found out about Forza's Porshe dlc, realised their own offering was pathetic by comparison
so they decided to delay it to avoid looking mediocre when compared to their rivals.
My best guess on the delay.

My comments exactly or at least hoping

Have you looked at the stream yet?

I don't use photo mode myself, but do enjoy looking at others work in the Photo sub forum. I checked the stream once today, apparently it is updated on the hour, it was as I expected. The pictures there were random and of low overall quality. Mostly just damage and clowning around stills.

Have you guys saw from the photo stream someone posted? I thought it looked cool and wanted to share it with you guys. I give that person a big +1 👍

Give it time.

Time to what, fade away?

It would be one thing if the pictures were judged and sorted, add in some type of competition and reward. But that's not what it is, at least in this incarnation. It's an open sharing (great free marketing for PD, but in my opinion will back-fire so to speak, if not changed) stream.

There seems to be no strategy apparent, no focus or follow through thinking at this point. It's just small side marketing ploy on the GT website.

I agree.

I just checked out the photo stream. It's neat I will admit, but it's pretty hard to take it seriously when pictures of wrecks and pictures of people not in racing gear show up instead of cars. I hope PD plans on improving it. It's nothing but a disorganized free for all right now.

I think it's nice to see others doing what they wish with their photos in photo stream. Theres all sorts of photos that come from the players imaginations. It looks to be fun. :D

And here at GTPlanet, we can support their photos too if it's okay with them. :)

Edit: I hope the GT4 tracks comes back this month, they'll make photo stream even more exciting.

I think it's all part of the fun. Gran Turismo, specialy on GT5, introduced the "human" aspect to racing games. And what we see it's the result of this nice thing. There's people on the tracks, on the locations...

Why not take pictures or feature them in these environments? I think it's very cool. :)

That's fine, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see only serious pictures.

PD needs to add a rating system, split pictures into categories (Random Photos, Highest Rated, etc.) or some system along those lines. This way more people can see what they really want.

Oh yeah a rating system. I can't believe PD forgot about. :p Maybe it's a beta?

100% agree with you. 👍 The option to rate the pictures and making their owners not anonymous would make it work a lot better. People will make efforts to post better pictures everytime.

But if you compare, even non-photoshoped pictures from the top photographers on GTP... the noobs and people without experience can't stand a chance. A rating system would be great but that maybe will scare the people that aren't good enough. Maybe that's why they haven't put the rating system.
