I used bikes all the time in MKWii, because I wasn't fond of a lot of the kart designs and the advantages were welcome amid all that item mayhem. I'm happy the original "Pipe Frame" kart has returned.

Said advantages have been neutralized but made more even this time around...

Happy to hear that bikes do still have that advantage, and this time around karts are notably more sturdy too supposedly.

But what about the Outside drifter bikes and ATVs. I think they'll be at a disadvantage.

I'll be using the Circuit Special a lot and going to use different tyres to see what works best.

Did you watch the video? The difference isn't as big or predictable so it means that there will be a gamble of using it! Plus, karts have a noticeable weight difference now(supposedly).

Yeah, but the Inside drifters did appear to be a bit faster around the corners. ATVs are probably going to suffer the worst unless if they have an advantage that I don't know about.

I think they will have some sort of advantage, perhaps they have inside difrifting too!

I imagine the ATVs would maintain extra speed over off-track surfaces.
That would be interesting and would fit ATVs.

Also, weight is a prety irrelevent stat but I'm glad Karts have a top speed advantage.

Weight isn't irrelevant when you are a baby character getting pounded off the track constant, or when using a hang-glider.

Weight effects gliding this time around???

That is true when your racing against people who constantly use their weight shove you into walls and off the track but I rarely encounter these people (the only times I used a heavy character is when I play as Dry Bowser which he isn't returning :(). So weight feels pointless (unless it effects hang-gliding this time).

It did in 7 too, particularly noticeable when you go Bowser or DK, DK flies a lot easier.

I am going to main Bowser, having been doing some speed runs in MK7, I am really liking his handling. This, of course, could change if MK8 has a much different handling set.

Actually in MK7. Hang-gliding has its own Speed and Handling. Speed is the same for all characters and Handling differes in favour of the Lighter characters. Each Kart part can alter the Air stat.

Odd that you like Bowsers handling considering Heavy's have the worst Handling but I guess different strokes for different fokes, I can't stand Bowsers lack of Acceleration and Handling (he has terrible handling IMO).

I tend to just choose characters because I like them and use the Karts to cope with their strengths and weaknesses (I either cover up Yoshis bit lacking of speed or shoot up Acceleration)..

This is what made me become a pro, by playing each vehicle for several hours (my GT5 quickly got jealous), I could figure out the advantage karts and bikes and thus became really good with inside drifting. I like inside drifting and trying to make outside work took a lot of time, I'm surprised if people didn't realize this...

I always sticked with Karts in MKWii (mainly the B Dasher Mk.2) and was pretty good at it. I knew Inside bikes are the more surperior vehicles but I always felt Karts were more suited to me, so I always raced in a disadvantage in MKWii but I still won over half of my races.

I wanted to try and dominate with each vehicle ( wasn't able to) just to say ha. I'm a bad winner :(

. I can't dominate on some vehicles too (namely every heavyweight vehicle accept the Flame Flyer (I think its called)).

yeah all the heavy stuff was the most difficult and I think Flame Flyer as well and Off Roader were the only two that I could conquer and for some reason Wario's Wario Bike and the Bowser Bike for a couple characters.

I haven't tried the Off Roader even tough I played MKwii for such a long time.

Anyway, what vehicle combination will you be trying for MK8 (If you're getting it). I'll be trying Circuit Special with Azure Roller.

Jose Ontaro from IGN shared this picture earlier...looks like we are gonna get an amazing review in 3 days. :D

Limited Edition in NY is sold out completely.

I'm really looking forward to all of the reviews. I just saw where GameStop is going to have a special "test drive event" this week, which is very nice. The thing I'm wondering about though is that they are going to give people who pre-ordered the game a special poster (to anyone that pre-orders it this weekend or anyone who has already done so). Does that mean that if I don't go this weekend that I'll still get a poster when I pick it up on the 30th?

I can't wait for video reviews just because I get to see gameplay footage.

The advertising campaign has kicked off, I haven't seen anything in the UK yet.

Glad to see they're actually advertising this on TV. Nintendo certainly is giving it everything they've got. Only 17 more days!

They could do more I Think, billboards would be nice. :D

Haha, good point, they certainly can do better but so far it's more than they've done with other big Wii U titles. Something funny though, as soon as I saw your post about the ad, it came on the TV within 5 minutes.
I wonder if we're going to see any DLC for the game.

Mario Golf could indicate it is a possibility, but as with all Nintendo stuff, it would be need to be quality controlled the hell out of, it all depends on sales making it a viable option.

I imagine that Mario Kart would be the best thing to test it out on. Not only are the sales going to be ridiculously high (hopefully) but the amount of things they could add is also greater than the other franchises. If they do, hopefully it will be cheap, although I wish that they would be somewhat like PD and through some freebies in here and there.

I would love DLC for characters (I want Nabbit as DLC :P) but I would hate having tracks as DLC. They would likely not let you race on those tracks online and would get very annoying if those tracks get constantly picked if you don't have it.
