Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone uses the disc speed and mapping texture  to enchance their graphics for gt3/all games?
I couldent really see much difference after changing thus...
Cheers, Fly. :D

Ah k... I wasnt sure... cause it didnt seem to change the quality of gt3 at all... does anyone else leave them maximised? someone said it forks your ps2 quicker...

I think those features only affect PSX games.

This is correct, and they affect PSX games differently as well. For example, GT2's sky texture seams look terrible with texture mapping on, and some games allegedly won't play properly with these turned on.

Ah k so its no point doing it to get ps2 games looking better? and it makes old ones look ****ter... so theres not much point....

The only one I'd tried it on was TOCA 2 - the main view looked like a painting where the paint had run a touch, but the freaky bit was the rear view mirror - it gave really strong 3d effect in the mirror that made it really distracting, and quite mesmerising....

The only thing that improves graphics would be an S-Video Cable & from what I've seen texture mapping also does a bit in terms of making the graphics look smoother....................

And there are about 20+ Playstation games that do not play at all on Playstation2.

I dont know if it's just me but i find running PSX:cd: in the PS2 look crap not as good as on the PSX itself i don't really mind at all if this is the case

The PS2 is a superb machine with DVD player so maybe having the DVD drive in it has something to do with the PSX games not running as well i believe the hardware in the PS2 is dedicated to the DVD and the PS2 games ..
Which is fine by me :)because a machine that can do 3 different tasks has to flaw somewhere

Its the same with with any electronic unit eg you buy a midi HIFI system with the works MD tape deck CD tuner they do sound ok but not as good as stand alone units dedicated to each source

I never use my PS2 for PSX games anymore i just kept my old trusty PSX for that job

Well thats my opinion and experience with Electronic equipment ;)

A general GT (A-spec and Concept) question:

The widescreen 16:9 mode. Are the cars meant to look crushed up? I have a 28" Sony Trinitron 100Hz for chrissakes. Could someone help me here?

i know what you mean dude but for all it is worth there is not really that much point in selling it ..it's not about money at all

I keep it for nostalgic reasons ;)

I still have my comodore 16+4 .. an old Atari .. sega master system and mega drive stashed away in my basement somewhere with a plethora of other games machines that i have went through over the years

i pulled them all out one night for a laugh and i was surprised at how much progress the gaming industry has made in the last 15 years i remember dreaming about will ther ever be games that look real

It just goes to show how much we take these things for granted

Maybe i will give them all to a museum in a few years time for all to see all still have their own original boxes

Does anyone else have old relics of game playing history

Not quite sure i understand your question ??

But when using 16.9 the cars will look wider than that in 4.3 it's purely for 2 player mode 16.9 is better with a vertical split rather than horozontal

Hope this answers your question;)
