Mazda chose a XJR-14 Jaguar chassis sold by TWR after the 1991' Le Mans victory. Rotary engines were banned...
This is the car we need to fight with the Peugeot 905! :dopey:

Absoultely a yes! It would be a competition for Peugeot 905. Voted! 👍

The Peugeot 905 has a very similar body; all they did was lower the wing and push the air dam backwards, which leads to this:

What engine does the Peugeot 905 have versus the 3.5 liter DOHC V10?

Same volume engine in 905, 3.5 F1 tech, great sound!

Voted. I remember Speedhunters had an article about this car and how Group C collapsed around it, but I can't seem to find the link anymore... Anyway, the MXR-01 was built off of the Jaguar XJR-14 Chassis design (Basically a Mass-Produced XJR-14) and powered by a "Customer-Spec" Judd V10.

The video showing the first hour and a half of the 1992's 24 Hours of Le Mans was re-uploaded a year ago :

You can clearly see how good the Mazda MXR-01 was doing against Peugeot and Toyota as long as the track was wet (taking the lead at 43:25).

Hilarous interview of Dereck Warwick at 47:30...
