It might just be me but I like having all my cars stock, as true to the real models as possible.

I have one stock and 5 more other's modified.
I plan on learning Nordschleife with the stock one, then as I get better at it use the modified ones.

If you want to drive it, tune it. Unfortunately the stock gearbox, LSD and suspension hide the real potential of the car. But don't max it out, as you wont find any competition other than high performance race cars anymore. I like mine best with the above changes and a racing exhaust for the sound.

The best way to prevent dilemmas like this is to just buy two of them. One with performance upgrades + aero kit and the other completely stock with nothing but an oil change. I love my upgraded McLaren F1, but I plan to have a stock one in the future.

You should have 2.

One stock and a f1 lm replica.

Stock

I'd no more want to drive this car tuned than I would want to drive a version of the Nurburgring I'd tuned some of the corners out of to make it quicker.

i got one and fully intended to leave it pretty standard but then i got bored and did everything to it and i love it even more now, just personal taste i suppose

The McLaren F1 NEEDS suspension tuning to perform. If you don't dial out the throttle induced oversteer, you might as well throw in the towel when racing other super cars.
