Yep the LM laps a road circuit much faster than the regular F1, it's top speed is claimed to be around the 220Mph mark, I'm not sure that the car has been driven that fast though.

didn't they make a car called an m6?...not a BMW but a mclaren...it was something 6
McLaren has made loads of cars including several that use the number 6 like the M6A and the M6GT however the only road cars are the F1's and the McLaren Mercedes SLR.

Actually, there are 3 road cars. F1, F1 LM and F1 GT.

Lucky F1 owners managed to get thier hands on the 5 F1 LM, and 2 F1 GTs.
Yes, I know I said 3 GT, but one is a prototype, and currently sits in a car museum in Europe.

Jaguar, thats an impressive post, you should print it and bind it and sell it for £2.99 in all good bookstores!!!

And something else, breaking new ground in GTPlanet history, GT-one lover used thumbnails!!! OH YES!!!!!!!

:) :) 👍 👍

And did I say there wern't 3 F1 road models, the SLR is also a McLaren built car.

Yeah Mclaren F1GTR about four people said the F1's (meaning all of them), I hope you arent insulted by us not naming off every individual model.

How did we get back around to discussing how many cars McLaren has produced? I asked that question and it got answered pretty quickly.

But you see McLaren and Mercedes both built the car. If you notice, it's under Mercedes.

McLaren and Mercedes both designed and built the car, but only because of their F1 Reputation. Like I said, McLaren doesn't roll anything out off the production line unless it's a Formula 1 car.

Back to topic.

I find the McLaren a great car to be in GT4. It could be the beginning of more European Supercars entering in later GT5s.

Which is how any future McLaren road cars will be, McLaren Mercedes. They are still built by McLaren, they just carry the Mercedes badge and name as well as the McLaren name.

...so u say the road version of the F1 surely won´t make it into GT4 but what about the short tail???

i want this car and it simply should be included cuz it´s the first "MC LAREN GT-RACECAR EVER"--->the long tail was just a improoved version!

for more pics of the short in a hot burning red color click HERE :)

Because the BMW Fina F1 GTR comes under a BMW license, all the other F1's come under a McLaren license and unless PD can get hold of that, the BMW F1 GTR is the only one we'll see in GT4.

I dont see whats so bad about at least having one Mclaren, at least this time we have one!......there all based on the same "F1".....Sure it would be great to have them all.....I would love just the normal road F1 personally but we will just have to make do with the Long Tail in GT4...unless PD get the licence, others gt's...who knows! :)

Plus if we get the SLR......hey! thats another.....and also those F1 unlicenced ones may well be Mclaren cars.....

...but that´s a "FINA F1 GTR" too!!!!!...it´s only the short tail (don´t forget!) the advertisments are nearly the same!!!...so it´s under the the license of BMW perhaps too?....i hope so cuz then there would be a real chance of getting that car into GT4 too!!:)
look there´s an FINAadvertisment!

I don't know to be honest, but just because the advertisments are almost identical and it's run by the same team that doesn't make it a BMW McLaren F1, theres more to it than that. It could be under a BMW license but it probably isn't.

Well..............you can always hope! :)

also.......bit off topic......if PD has a BMW licence.......why havent they done cool cars like the M1 and newer one like the X3.....which is not so cool!

....are u sure it IS NOT under BMW license??
but it IS a BMW Mc Laren cuz it HAS THE BMW V12 ENGINE!!!
...so u mean only the F1 GTR (Long Tail)# 42 and #43 are under BMW license???
....boooughhh....how ugly......but as robin said u can hope always!!:)

Yep.......I'm hoping with ya buddy! :) ......To me the Long Tail looks abit odd......its looks abit......well  .....................................TO LONG! :D :p

 You should be happy anyway cos the Toyota GT One is in GT4.....so you have know worry......I want the SLR in it! :nervous:

GT-One Lover

All F1's have a BMW engine, that doesn't make them BMW's, the Pagani Zonda has an AMG Mercedes Engien, that doesn't make it a Mercedes. Theres other stuff involved, it was mentioned here something about BMW actually built that car not McLaren or something and as a result it comes under BMW.

GT-ONE, we do know both are sponsored by Fina, but #42 F1 GTR is owned by BMW along with #43. There's more to it than just a sponsor.

Plus, like I said, not all F1 GTRs fall under the BMW license like this little beauty.

BTW, if you look in the background, you can see the teammate car.

However, if all F1 GTR Longtails fell under BMW, and PD got the license to use them all, PD could randomize the F1 GTR paint. Like the Lupo in GT3.

I am not entirely sure, but those 2 F1 GTRs had the body built, but BMW did all the performance work, including more then what they usually do McLarens. Not enitrely sure though.

...but didn´t BMW do all the performance work by the short tail-cars too??
hmmm....i just thought that BMW had the licenses for THEIR RACECARS cuz it was team BMW and the short tail was the first and the long tail the second, improoved car they had so why hasn´t BMW the license for BOTH cars???

The Longtail was almost a completely differen car to the normal F1 GTR's, it's chassis was different as was the body and many mechanical components were different too I guess BMW had more to do with the long tail than the short tail and because of the ammount they did the long tail could be classed as a BMW.

when your driving it in GT4 just turn it onto car dials view and pretend that its a short tail! 👍 ;) :D

BMW funded the development of the 1997 long tail cars, to compete with the 911 GT1, CLK-GTR etc.

BMW probably did a special deal with Mclaren for the works cars, for marketing reasons etc.
