GT-One Lover: You don't have to support every post you make by spamming images. A link to the entry list would have done the exact same thing.

Sorry to bring up another supercar, but with visions of the Chrysler ME412 out, do you think this will prompt McLaren to come up with a supercar to beat this American supercar (that isn't going into production from what I hear)? And I think that if a JGTC racer is going to be in GT4, that will at least mean hopping up horsepower. Come on now. If GT4 will feature the same horsepower-boosting as GT3 provided with the race cars, I'm sure you can boost the HPs of the JGTC McLarens (granted they are in) with a simple Stage 1 or 2 NA or Turbo. They may be downtuned for the JGTC's regulations, but don't count the machine out of being exceptional.

So my next question apart from the one above. If GT4 allows taking off restrictors for the JGTC cars (which is likely not possible) can the JGTC McLaren smoke the Fina McLaren that we've seen in pictures? And will it be a better car to race than the Fina McLaren?

Speed Channel viewers had a chance to see the coverage of 5th Gear's "Greatest Cars in the World." And fans of the car, jump like "fragile bunnies" because the McLaren F1 was rated 5th Gear's greatest car in the world. Just a small update. Carry on with conversation.

I'd like to say that not ALL GT500 cars start at 500HP. In fact, this the 350Z
had 460HP @ 5600RPM.

Oh, and BTW, this little GT300 Porsche sits at 445HP.

Thanks for keeping your pictures down to a reasonable size, Mclaren.

The JGTC cars in GT3, if i remember rightly, would go:

GT300s e.g. C-West Silvia, Add turbo 1 or 2 to get c.550hp
GT500s e.g. Calsonic skyline, add turbo 3 or sometimes 4 to get 800-1000hp.

fast already, but with tunes like that they really are rapid racing machines, a bit like a fully-tuned R34 GT-R V-spec II - 1200hp!! :scared: :scared:

'I'd like to say that not ALL GT500 cars start at 500HP. In fact, this the 350Z

That is an 'official' figure. The 350Z GT500 puts out over 500BHP.

'The race version is the same weight as the race Skylines in the GT500. The road version is 1450-ish KG's.'

The Skyline GT500 weighs more like 1100KG, the GT500 class minimum.

You cannot prove that they have over 500Bhp, there is nothing to back that claim up.

And you rpoint is what exactley? And why quote me for that comment?

I don't know why you even question this. Its not rocket science just a well known fact, as with the WRC cars etc.

The Audi R8LMP1 for example was quoted at an official 610BHP in 2002. It actually had 650BHP+!

I just used the wrong reply button

I was really answering an earlier poster who seemed to think the race version of the 350Z weighed the same as the road car.

Some of the Skylines in GT500 class sit at 500+. Noteing that + means some of those Skylines sit at more than 500HP.

The 350Z I showed sat at 460HP+ That didn't mean it ran 500 HP, it ran more 460HP.

I have heard rumors saying that Mclaren may start a line of mercedes powered supercars. Actualy Mclaren originally wanted to make the SLR a midengined V12 to continue on with the F1's lineage, mercedes wantd a front engined GT. Mercedes basically offered to pay for Mclaren's new headquaters for them to do the SLR we see now.

Generally, the rounder the figure, the more room there is for error.
If you put "over 500" it could mean up to about 580
If you put "over 462.7!!" it usually only goes up to 462.84 at which point, you might as well say nearly 462.8,

Therefore, saying 460+ syggests only a figure about 460-470 or so, less than 500.

Logically, 460+ just means more than 460, but that's not how most people would interpret it, unfortunately for you.

Oh, erm, you've heard rumours, anything more than that?

The only thing McLaren is currently rolling off the lines are F1 cars.

BTW, xcsti, do you even know what powers a Zonda?

Plus, when it came to the road cars produced from McLaren, Mercedes had nothing to do with them.

Do you think that Mclaren will ever make a brand new car under there own marque???......not like the SLR

I doubt it.

McLaren went under. But I have a feeling they only wanted to produce a 100 cars for some reason. I think they are the first car company who just wanted to produce a certain number of rare cars, and then move back on with F1 racing.

its a shame :( .....oh well who knows, you here about 60 year old car companies being revived every day by private investors......

How amazing would the 2004 Mclaren F1 look...........

But alot of them never work out. The investors just can't make money off them. Plus, McLaren is still alive, but only by F1. I do know Fina #42 and #43 are owned by BMW, and occasionally enter in old Le Mans Classic races, but lately, they've been in a museum along with a few other F1 GTRs.

They really should at least modernise the F1......at least give it a facelift!...If it is the fastest road car in the world it should atleast look at the forfront of technology

Yes, it is a classic and considered the World's best, but I don't think they're ready to build car 101. I think they only started their cars as rare Exotics supercars, and wanted to make a limited porduction. The F1 was going to be the only one, until 5 F1 GTRs placed 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th, then they build the 5 F1 LM's as a tribute to them. Although I have no idea why the F1 GT was made. But only 3 exist. 1 Prototype, and 2 that are sold.

BTW, xcsti, do you even know what powers a Zonda?

7.0L Mercedes V12 just because mercedes powers zonda doesnt mean they won't supply an engine for another company, especially one with such close ties to them. Whats better than having a supercar with your motor in it? Having two supercars with your powertrain.
My question, do you know WHY a mercedes engine powers the Zonda?

I question it because the OFFICIAL US site, as in the Official site thats in English that hasn't been translated by some tool say's GT500 has a 500Bhp max limit.

Until I see proper proof otherwise thats what I'm sticking with.

Yes, like how BMW likes the fact that the F1 GTR who won LeMans in '95 used their engine.

As to your question, no I can't say. But the Zonda C12-S featured a 6.0 liter V12, but the new Zonda C12-S 7.3 actually doesn't feature a 7.0 liter. It features an AMG 7.3 liter V12. (Hence, the 7.3 at the end)

But since you know alot about it, you can tell me who the man who started it was, and what he worked on before.

Damn, how the heck did you know I got from the American site.

Hey you got me on the displacement. I havent read up on Pagani in over two years, but what I do remember from an interview was that pagani stated that the man he named the car for (Zonda) loved mercedes power and that was the reason he chose the engine. Honestly I have no idea what he did before and don't feel like being dishonest and quickly looking it up. I would like to know who he was though and what he did before.

I think the car was orignally going to be named after Fangio, hence the Mercedes power.

The inspiration for the car was the Sauber Mercdes C9 Group C car.

Mr Pagani started his career at Lamborghini I belive, and moved his way up to eventually be a designer.

P.S. you can go on the Japanease JGTC site. There is an English language option on there.

Regarding an earlier post, the Skyline actually ran teh V6 turbo engine that the 350Z GT500 now uses, for at least one year, possibly 2.

Finally didn't we already go over the restrictor issue before. The restrictor size is a guesstimate, to allow each car to produce 500BHP with 10-15% leeway.

Correct! He helped design most of the Countach, and worked with the team who designed the Diablo.

He felt that he needed to design his own company in which he did.

If you read on one of these GT4 threads, I explained the coming of Ferruccio Lamborghini's dream.

Wasn't he an architect from Argentina that decided to design his own car?
