I am actually all for a Gray Fox storyline though.

Why? Big Boss and Solid Snake are the paragon operators. In other words, Gray is just an accessory. I don't think a Gray Fox story would be worth making on top of what we already know.

What would be cool is a "Spar with The Boss" minigame. :p

How 'bout Kojima's CQC Brawl?

okay maybe not

Gray Fox has a huge backstory pre-Metal Gear 1&2 that we don't know (unless MGS4 tells it all).

Gray Fox was the elite soldier of Foxhound before Snake. All we know is that he was the elite soldier when Snake was a rookie, and Gray Fox turned with Big Boss. A Gray Fox story could fill in the gaps between Portable Ops and Metal Gear, showing Big Boss's turn and explain why Gray Fox was the elite Foxhound soldier.

If you are going to make a non-Snake Metal Gear story Gray Fox would be one of the better options.

You sound like you don't want to touch on any of this storyline ever again.

And in reality, that is possible. Because I fully believe that it would be possible to tell a story that has nothing to do with Foxhound or any Snakes.

If Kojima said that The Patriots did other things outside Metal Gear, or had more Metal Gear projects, I could buy that.

yes and according to the metal gear database grey fox is null from portable ops, which would seem to contradict some of the other explanations. I think there is a good opportunity for a story considering he's mentioned in some way or another throughout the story.

lucky guy :)

I seriously hope they don't make any more sequels or prequels to the snake/metal gear/patriots story. When was the first one made? Its time to move on to something else. If they are so good at making games (and they are IMO) then a completely new story with new characters will still sell really well.

Other things that are not needed - Rocky VII and Rambo 5.

apparently, you haven't played or Played through MSG4 yet. I read it up, and won't give it away, but believe me...MGS is DONE...everything gets resolved at the same time after the credit roll

the first was made in 87!

okay, who's in the pic, there? if I didn't know better, I'd say it's Sam Elliot.

But there is still a pretty large gap left between MGS3 and Metal Gear. If they were to make another game, I think that's where they could go.

MGS is not Kojima/Konami's only IP.

And it doesn't have to be a Snake, Metal Gear, or Patriots story. But in this world they have created there is a lot than can be done or told and never cross the paths of the original story, other than just enough to let you know you are in the same alternate reality.

Like in the area of 20 years. And if someone expects me to believe that just because the technology to build Metal Gear wasn't quite there yet that the Patriots did nothing for 20 years you need to explain that.

I think I would be happy with just a new Tactical Espionage Action game, even if it is a brand new IP. I love the gameplay and the way the story rolls out. I have never been a huge fan of run and gun style games and FPS', but this stuff I love.

My backstory/playing catch up update: Just defeated The End in MGS3 last night. I should be able to complete the game this week and then get MGS4.

Is there a full weapons list anywhere about for MGS4?

I'm only a couple of days away from getting it hopefully and just wondering what i can look forward to that i can't see in the trailers.

meby they should expand on Raiden? after all, they haven't said HOW he got Roboticised in the intervening years between SoP and GoP. but I'll go with what Kojima himself has said...that he's burned out.

Interesting, I'm basically at the exact same spot (just a couple of locations ahead) in MGS3. Did you get his camo and gun?

Man, MGO is hard!!!

It's like all almost all the bullets i fire miss the target even if i aim at his chest, but the person i'm shooting at has no problems killing me with a couple of shots.

I got the gun but I couldn't find the camo. It was a stamina kill too. Really once you get on the same board as The End and spot him he is easy to track using thermal goggles. What was his camo?

Last night I beat The Fury, got his camo, and now I am running around dressed as Colonel Raiden Raiken. I saved it after I switched, so I haven't done anything while disguised yet.

I think it is the Moss camo, basically its best feature is that if you wear it while exposed to sunlight it regenerates your stamina. Nice little perk if you don't want to spend time gathering food. In order to get it you have to sneak up on The End and hold him up. It takes 3 tries or so aiming at his head or crotch before he finally coughs up his camo.

Yep used the thermal goggles as well. Very effective.

Haven't progressed that far yet. Right now I'm at the mountain ledge overlooking Groznyj Grad.

Here's a hint: Don't shoot the helicopter. Those gun turrets are extremely tempting, but you really do not want to do it.

For fun though kill a vulture and then call Para-medic until she tells you about it.

Another question...

I'm trying to get the emblem thing for 10+ 'battle highs'. I know to get one you have to fire 100 bullets during an alert but i can't seem to get it to happen. Every time i've tried it runs out of 'alert' and goes to a 'caution'. Anyone know any tricks to get this happening easier?
I'm playing on super super easy because i'm going for about 10 emblems on this playthrough. I don't think 'alerts' last as long as they do on the harder levels.

Thankyou.

EDIT: Nevermind, i found a way.
I just opened up on the dwarf gekko with the M60 in the room before the Vamp battle, throwing myself over the rail after getting a 'battle high'. Did that 10 times :)

OK I haven't read any part of this thread , as their night be some spoilers , but I'm stuck with Vamp at moment I've killed him twice now and he regenerates how can I kill him?

Ignore just did it :D ....

Really, I though that one was relatively easy. Don't forget to press the action key when it prompts you on screen if you're not doing that already.

i didn't no you could lose against him to be honest lol

yeah I lost quickly to him the first time since I had no idea what the hell was going on or what buttons to press, I've finished my third play through now and haven't had trouble either of the times since the first.

I thought it was pretty hard on big boss hard (or whatever it is, not the extreme hard but the next one down). Once you know the buttons though its relatively simple.

ok yea i was only on normal haha:P

Its a cool fight though. Bit repetitive though. Always seam to do the same combo...

^^^ A little scripted too but that isn't a surprise. I liked it anyway.

Finished my 3rd playthrough -

total time - 35:55
Continues - 67
Alerts -204
Kills -867
Recovery Items - 51
Weapon types - 64
Flashbacks - 196
Drebin points - 1,333,803 (would've been up near 2 million but i bought that big stupid rifle)

I got 21 emblems in this play through alone, the best one was 'bear' for using more than 100 cqc chokes. I'm going to have a go at an < 5 hours, no kill/continue/alert play through on big boss extreme. It can't be as hard as it sounds :)

I've finished it :D , got "Eagle" thing in the end , not sure what thats about lol , finished it on BigBoss hard , not sure if I'm going for another playthrough though
