I don't think it'll make a difference, as you're first validated by the Minecraft.net servers, and if that fails, you're out of luck..
 
True, although I'm not sure Notch would stop the 15 odd million people that payed for the game from playing. I'd imagine they've changed the website homepage but the backround databases are still working.

Can anyone connect to any other servers?
 
Umm...they're only just at 3.5million, actually.

I'd have a look but my CPU is really hot tonight, can't start the game or risk a meltdown.


EDIT: Bahahaha, I never actually clicked on the link to see that what I said was what they were doing. :lol:.
 
I'm in a different time zone to you and about half of the players, so I have to hope that when I get home the server is still up after your time zone's players have done their thing.

I'm thinking of revamping the economy system.

At the moment people earn econ by simply being on the server. This means the oldest members have a ton of money from not really doing anything.

I'm thinking about resetting everyones money, then setting up a system where people can sell gold or diamond at specific pay stations around the map. This means to generate economy, users will actually have to mine and sell some of what they gather.
 
I like that idea. I've been thinking about that a lot too, and I think it's time to change. I mean, most of the older members (such as myself) have tons of cash for not a whole lot. I myself have over 15'000 credits, out of just being there and my two shops (which aren't very active due to my not looking after them and restocking).

EDIT: Ordinarly I'd go, "NUUUUU I LOOSE ALL MY CREDITS BAD IDEA AHHHH!!!!!", but by Minecraft Trade I'm a miner, have been since I bought the game. A recessed legion (most are hunters, explorers, or builders), so it won't take me long to build it up again. I think the vaules for minerals should be this:

Coal: 1C per coal.
Iron: 3C per ore, 4C per ingot
Gold: 15C per ore, 20C per ingot
Diamond: 35C per gem.
Lapis: 10C per...thing

Might want to make it 1C per half stack, or even full stack. Cobble is so readily available, 10 minutes underground and people would have themselves a fortune.

On another note, my new computer will be arriving soon (ordering it tonight), so I'll be seen a lot more on the server (should be here in about a week or 2). Quick rundown on specs since everyone likes to hear that (apparently):

AMD FX-4100 Quad Core CPU
8GB Kingston 1600MHz RAM
ASUS Radeon 6770 Video Card
500GB HDD

Me thinkiths me shall gets mega FPS with those specs. :lol:
