Yes, make sure Java is updated and if you have 64-bit system, you need 64-bit java. Enjoy the game. 👍
32bit Java works on 64bit OS, the other way round it doesn't.

I updated my Java recently to 7. I still somehow have an error trying to play the game after trying to log into the client version of Minecraft. Some others say it is a video card issue, and I have the old SiS 760 card. If I could play the Minecraft Classic version well enough, then it is befuddling how the client version can fail so much trying to start the game after logging in. I think I have a 32-bit system. I have so many of those Java error logs in my Minecraft folder that I wonder what actually needs to be done so I could enjoy the client version of this game. When I say "client version," I mean the Minecraft you download. I am not likely going to host any Minecraft server parties or anything.

Back to Java 7 for a moment... I've read about people saying the latest Java being a problem for many Minecraft players. So they rolled back to Java 6. I've had the same problem regardless of Java 6 or Java 7. I even tried messing around with memory limitations and stuff. Still- as far as I get is "Done Loading" followed by the game crashing. One time, I even had a PC Gamer demo version of Minecraft. I NEVER got that to work because it crashed immediately. I am trying to maybe find a workaround. I even looked at YouTube videos to get ideas of what versions of Minecraft are being used. I found certain JAR files of past/alpha/beta/snapshot versions of Minecraft. Same result = can't play the game.

I think Minecraft is going to be well worth what little youth I have left once I can somehow get the game working finally.

Show me one of those log files.

A launcher could help. I personally prefer Magic Launcher. It has a built in mod installer as well as tabs that display things such as Jeb's twitter, etc.

Are you trying to launch the game with a snapshot installed, JohnBM01?

I have three different launchers: the official one from when I downloaded Minecraft, Magic Launcher (great for customizing), and DigiEx Launcher (good for downloading JARs of past versions of Minecraft). The one I've used more often is Magic Launcher. I've tried using other variants of Minecraft, but none have worked. I am currently using the latest Minecraft- 1.5.2.

I have never used the CODE feature before on GTPlanet in my 9.5 years on GTPlanet, so this is a first for me. This was the latest Java error report:

I want to believe Java is not the issue. If it was, I wouldn't have been able to play even Minecraft Classic in a browser. So it has to be something with Java... or maybe there's something wrong on the server side for Mojang or something.

[UPDATE] Make that four launchers I have for Minecraft... and all four not allowing me to play the game. I downloaded the SKMCLauncher. So there's still something amiss. Just not sure what.

Delete your .minecraft folder. It's in C:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming

Then try running it again.

Enable OpenGL

Unless your GPU doesn't support OpenGL...

EDIT: Yeah the SIS 760 has no hardware accelerated OpenGL support. You'd need to do a sw software simulation of OpenGL, but it seems as if you need premium drivers which cost money. :ouch:
Perhaps you can get those drivers for free somewhere, but I can't tell on GTP anyway...

Minecraft would run terrible on a SIS 760 with software based OpenGL simulation though. If you get the drivers for free, try it. Otherwise... your gpu is simply too weak, sorry.

EDIT2: Your SIS doesn't even have directx 8 support, does it? :lol: (MC doesn't need directx, but I'm just wondering).

EDIT3: But maybe I'm wrong and SIS has updated their drivers with additional features, it's worth a try anyway: http://w3.sis.com/download/agreement.php?url=/download/

What are the specs for the rest of your PC?

As long as they meet the minimum requirements, then his PC shouldn't be the problem.

Mojang - Minecraft System Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
CPU : Intel P4/NetBurst Architecture or its AMD Equivalent (AMD K7)
RAM : 2GB
GPU : Intel GMA 950 or AMD Equivalent
HDD : At least 90MB for Game Core and Sound Files
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 or up is required to be able to run the game

Anyway, I just noticed something. On that error you posted, it says "-Xms512m -Xmx512m" when it is supposed to say "-Xms512m -Xmx1024m." (In case you didn't know, that's the ram you have allocated to Minecraft, 512mb for Minecraft, 1024 for Java, I think.)

Have you tried adjusting the RAM settings? You can adjust this by going to control panel, searching for/clicking on Java, click the Java tab, then finally click View, and under "Runtime Parameters" should be "-Xms512m -Xmx512m." Try changing "-XmX512m" to "-Xmx1024m."

Yeah but he has an HP from 2005 that has an SiS card in it. I have a feeling that it doesn't meet the requirements!

MC requires opengl and his SIS gpu doesnt support opengl.

Disable opengl on your computer and you'll see.

Code:
-Dsun.java2d.opengl=false
This MUST be on true to run MC.

I wonder why nobody believes me.

-Xms512m -xmx512m is absolutely fine. It's actually better in his case because with only 1gig left for OS, etc he could run out of memory. It won't crash because it would start to use virtual ram on the hdd instead, but thats superslow then.

Vanilla MC itself doesn't need more than 200-250MB of RAM. Xms/Xmx define how much ram (min/max) java allocates for the application, not how much the whole java stuff needs.

I guess so, I was told on MC Forums that by default it should be -Xms512m -Xmx1024m.

Maybe that's all it needs, but as far as how much it uses when it runs...I wish it was just 250MB. :yuck:

Mine is constantly in the 800's, sometimes it goes to 1GB. (I have 2GB dedicated to it, so maybe that explains why)

Still can't get beyond after logging in. I have no experience editing Java. I don't even know the first thing to do. I am not even sure how to edit anything Java.

Someone mentioned DirectX, and I have DirectX 9.0c. Let me share something on the notion of OpenGL and my PC. One thing I did elsewhere was open up Google Earth. I haven't used Google Earth in a long while. I couldn't remember if I had OpenGL or DirectX working previously when I used it more often than I used to. I had enabled OpenGL. Then, Google Earth recommended I go back to DirectX. I rejected the recommendation. And so while Google Earth still worked, all I could see are icons and lines- not a textured Earth. Why am I talking about something other than Minecraft? It is to show that I do have OpenGL and that it does indeed work. Maybe I would need to somehow reinstall or tinker with OpenGL to get it to work. It has to be either a certain Java issue or maybe something involving graphics. Or maybe it's the launcher. I mean... I have no idea what to think or try out.

Remember from my "WiFi and Sound Issue" post that I did a System Restore back in April. I am still very unsure what to do or what to fool around with to get Minecraft to work. The majority of error material I get seems to involve something outside of the Java Virtual Machine (as said in the error logs).

Vanilla MC without any mods does never go over 250MB on my computer, whereas Java itself surely needs more RAM. The whole JAVA framework needs about 700-800MB then (if xmx512). If you start it with xmx1024 (default) it will unsurprisingly and clearly take more than 1gig.

Google Earth doesn't need OpenGL to run, it needs it to visualize certain stuff.

Anyway, here's a possible solution:

Open notepad and create a text file with the following:
Code:
java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true -jar "Minecraft.exe"

And then save it as batch file (.bat) in the very same folder as your minecraft.exe.

My processor is at 1.8 GHz, and I have 1.3 GHz of RAM. Windows XP SP3 is what I'm using as an OS. I installed a 1 GB module of RAM some five years ago in hopes of playing some certain games (like RACE 07, which I've longed to get and play while still in stores), but never got to do so. In fact, I've basically given up on playing more modern PC games and just stick to older titles. However, I decided to give it about one last go for modern PC games by buying Minecraft. Minecraft shouldn't be brutally intensive on resources. I read online about people who even had 256 MB of RAM that could still play Minecraft- even if at a laggy expense. Mojang's site mentioned having 2GB of RAM as a minimum and 4GB recommended. It is very possible to play Minecraft even with some fairly decent 5-10 year old PCs. I am just not sure what exactly is happening as to why I can't play the client/downloaded version of Minecraft. Only Minecraft I've been able to play was Minecraft Classic in a browser. And even if I can't save my worlds, at least I can play Minecraft. Both that applet and the downloadable version use Java, so why the browser version will work but not the client/download version doesn't work is beyond me.

I've been trying to make these BAT files, but with my limited experience making them and understanding them, BAT files haven't worked for me trying to use Minecraft. Same result- load and crash.

Please use a GL viewer and tell me which OpenGL versions it lists for you GPU.

Here's a download link for the OpenGL Extensions Viewer:

Here is a basic summary after using the OpenGL Extensions Viewer:

* 760 VGA renderer
* 128 MB of RAM adapter
* HP f1523 flat panel monitor
* 1024 x 768 x 32 bpp (60 Hz) display
* Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
* AMD Sempron Processor 3000+

* OpenGL version 1.4
* Driver version: 6.14.10.3673; May 25, 2005

* DirectX V. 9.0c - August 2004
* vs_1_1,ps_1_3

Though I have DX9, I usually use (for example) the DX7 package to play rFactor. It works better for me than using DX8 or DX9. That's just another off-topic example regarding DirectX.

Minecraft doesn't look to be anything seriously intense. It isn't like Minecraft is Crysis or anything in terms of complexity in graphics. So I don't think my issue has anything to do really with anything graphically complex. When I do play Minecraft Classic, I shortened the rendering distance from far to short. That's about the only kind of graphical issue I face playing Minecraft Classic. Other than that, I don't know how to get the client/download version of Minecraft working. Just can't get past a launcher loading up the game and then crash.

A Semperon and 128MB of video ram. That's pushing it!

How much RAM do you have?

MineCraft is actually badly coded so it eats CPU.

Minecraft is actually quite computer intensive. It's mainly run off the cpu being Java, I wish you luck with this!

I found out that lots of people have this sort of issue regarding trying to start Minecraft. "Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks" is very relevant to describe this issue. What works for one person may not work for everyone. Maybe I'll find mine eventually and get to play this game finally.

If I spend too much time complaining about trying to start Minecraft, I'll just make it sound like this is a game that will just test your patience rather than be anything fun. So what I'll do here is just share some basic thoughts on Minecraft. I can't help but be impressed as to what you can do with Minecraft and how much you can modify it and have fun with it. I've seen countless YouTube videos on Minecraft now on various things. I am compelled to want to make a village with Minecraft and give it villagers, like with the build of Minecraft that includes NPC villagers. Part of me has the Minecraft bug while another has kind of an RPG world bug. I'm willing to explore a generated world while also envisioning how to mend it into my own. That's why I love games like the SimCity series, and a reason why I was intrigued to buy Minecraft. I love almost any game where your imagination is the only limit.

It is just real sad, though, that I've been unable to enjoy Minecraft by having to find any sort of method to finally get to play this game. I am someone with a big heart. I think there IS a way to do something or accomplish something no matter how much it takes. You stay with something rather than abandon it for good. That is... unless there is just really nothing more you can do realistically.

One time, I managed to get the game window working for well more than three seconds... but the game didn't load at all. I didn't see the Mojang screen- it was just a black screen that I eventually just closed because it was taking too long to load. It's like the game tries to load, but some bulls:censored: happens to where your high hopes just go down in flames. Again, again, and again. Yeah, I know- story of my life.

Will this be your first play through of the game? Hope you get it working soon, nothing like being a noob in Minecraft. 👍
