ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!! I'll surely want to check out Minecraft for the PS3. I wonder what the PS3 version will offer as opposed to the XBOX 360 offering. A key word I read was "exclusive" when I read about Minecraft and Microsoft. So maybe Mojang was pleased to try to roll out this deal on other systems instead of just all the different devices Minecraft can be played on.

Minecraft is headed to PS3, PS Vita and PS4 this year. Can't wait!

I might look into getting Minecraft for PS4 when it comes out. I've heard a lot of good things about it and it makes me want to have a go at it, even though I'm not that creative.

Hell yeah! Definitely good news, Xbox is broke and miss playing with friends on console. Not sure if I should get for PS3 or PS4, but we'll see. 👍

You don't have to be creative to enjoy Minecraft. 👍

It has a mode called Survival where you must gather food, resources, build shelter, fight monsters, and the like in order to stay alive.

I'm not that creative either. It just brings out the Lego loving kid in you. I just hope it isn't another $20, I've already given them almost $50.

The beauty of Minecraft, is that there are no limits to what you can do (although you can't mod it on consoles :P).

There are literally no rules in Minecraft, except do not illegally distribute it. No one can tell you how to play it because everyone has a different play style. Some people enjoy fighting monsters (or other players! :nervous:), some people enjoy digging, creating complex redstone contraptions, others build giant statues, small houses, pixel art, or whatever you can think of. The only limits to the game is your imagination.

The Minecraft Wiki hasn't yet updated on the notion of Minecraft coming to the Sony systems. I do think it is VERY cool to finally get to play Minecraft on the PS3. I am pretty pleased about this. Once released, should I manage to get Minecraft for the PS3, that means I'll have Minecraft for the PC, Android, and the PS3. My only question relates to just what the initial build will be like for the PS3 version. How much can Mojang harness out of the PS3 (and of other Sony systems) to make the best possible Minecraft early on? I know I've heard of people who've been disappointed with the pace of updates for the XBOX 360 version of Minecraft. My hopes do remain pretty high that Minecraft for the PS3 will be quite good.

Having Minecraft for the PS3 means two of the more popular sandbox type games will be available- it and Terraria. I also wonder what the PSVITA version will be like. It may be like a more powerful and more enhanced Minecraft Pocket Edition. The PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft will also be interesting to follow. How much deep could the PS4 version be in harnessing the PS4's power? Lots to digest and speculate.

I'm certainly hyped for the PS3 version as well. I hope it will be similar to the 360 version - interface, how Multiplayer works, same controls, etc. I just wonder how the PS3's seperate RAM pools will affect Minecraft? Regardless it'll be nice playing it on console again.

Get the PC version! If you can't play on a bukkit server, you are missing out on a lot of what MineCraft can offer.

Or just wait for the PS4 edition. I think it will be safe to say the PC and PS4 versions will be identical, seeing as the PS4 is an optimised PC. (Oh, and 4J confirmed mod packs for 360, so my guess is they'l port them over).

So you think we'll be able to set up our own servers with plugins and mod our games? Nope.

Reason why I'm not interested in console MC.

The PC version is the best and most up-to-date version, but this is a great opportunity for those who don't have the PC version (or don't have the PC version working like myself) to enjoy Minecraft. Would you rather be able to play a hot game like Minecraft on any sort of platform rather than have a capable enough PC? Even I play Minecraft Pocket Edition. Sadly, my MCPE is being a b:censored: in which the game slows up and crashes the moment I try to build something. At least I'm still playing Minecraft.

Sony players should have every reason to be psyched.

Actually no.

Having played the PC version first anyway. I've tried the console and pocket versions and I simply wouldn't play MineCraft at all if I couldn't play on PC.

For some it's personal preference. Some prefer to play on PC and get an overall superior experience. Others prefer to sit down on their sofa, slap on a headset, hook up to PSN and play a game like Minecraft from the comfort of their TV. I'm part of the latter, mainly as although my specs are pretty good, but the CPU is utter 🤬

*cough*

Speaking of which, is there a mod that allows you to play with an Xbox 360 USB controller? :O

How dare you!

Yes, you can do that, but with a keyboard, you're sort of leaning in at your keyboard to play. With the console, you can just sit back against your couch and relax.

Nope. I sit back with the keyboard on my lap and the mouse on the sofa.

Peep this video reporting on Minecraft for the PS3, PS4, and PSVITA:

I didn't know in the past about an exclusive contract to have it on the XBOX 360. Otherwise, we would have probably had Minecraft for XBOX AND the Sony systems by now. So this mid-November is when you can enjoy Minecraft on your Sony system. I'm just glad it's coming for the aforementioned systems. I'll probably just buy me a PSN gift card and pay to get Minecraft on my PS3. I likely won't have a PS4 any time soon. Until I get to finally play PC Minecraft, I'll still enjoy MCPE and whatever becomes of the PS3/PS4/PSVITA Minecraft.

Other than that, I started to work on my second Minecraft Creative world. I already built a house to serve as home base. This second world has two nice desert areas and a big snowy area. I didn't input a seed number. I'll be looking for ways to dress up this second world. Something else I managed to do was uninstall and reinstall MCPE. Now, the game runs fine again after it would crash by just adding or deleting one block in Minecraft.

Mod - no. Programs - yes (2 to be exact). I use a PS3 controller emulated as a wired 360 controller with custom button mapping to play on PC 👍

Main reason I've done it like this is because I started out on the 360 version then went to PC, and being a console gamer the keyboard/mouse didn't agree with me.

I second this. The thing will run on a toaster and it's much more useable on the PC, what with mods for both singleplayer and multiplayer that just aren't possible on Console.

...
Nope. I sit back with the keyboard on my lap and the mouse on the sofa.

I also second this also :p

Nice, what're the names of these programs? :D
The thing will run on a toaster...
What will? Minecraft?

Oh, try telling that to JohnBM01. :p

Just started playing and I'm in need of some help. I'm playing on mac.

I've built a house but got attacked by a tall looking guy/thing like slender man and all of a sudden my health was 2 and a half and my clothes are down to 1 and a half. ive eaten abd my hunger is nearly full but I'm not sure what to do.

any tips for a first time player.

I have a secure location with torches all over a small set of wooden tools including pickaxe and sword. I can find no cows for leather but tons of chickens.

The tall thing is an enderman. They attack you if you look at them. Best tip I can give is get stone tools, and then go caving for iron. Once you have full iron gear, then you are much more protected and are much safer.

You were attacked by an Enderman. They are normally passive creatures. They don't attack you unless you look directly at them or injure them. Endermen have the ability to teleport away from you and to you when you get far away from them. They can not be injured by projectiles like bows, splash potions, snowballs (which don't damage any mobs except for the Ender Dragon), etc because they teleport away before they can be hurt. They can be hurt by water, so an easy way to kill one would be to place water down using a bucket, stand in the middle, and look at them so they will attack you.

If you have any questions or are unsure of something, I highly recommend you use the Minecraft Wiki. This site provides every single thing you need to know about the game. There are also some good starter guides and YouTube videos highlighting how to get started and survive your first night.

cheers guys, I'd been on the Wiki and its very helpful. My resources are building up and I'm ready to start my real main house. I've got a heavily defended mine entrance and I can hear creepers etc lurking somewhere in the mountain.
