How about we all shut up about it and realize that Dunc can promote the server in any way he bloody well wants. Look, we've got a strong moderation panel, and the software to back it up. If we have attacks, we can fight it, and it's not going to be a problem.

It's only as strong as the people that are actually on...
Since I just was there and no one (to prove my point)

So really if you want strong get a player or two that are actually on like 6-8 hours to enforce things.

Software only backs it up if something does happen when the "lack of" moderation is not there.
 
I destroyed 6 buildings on another server, planted trees. And when they did a rollback the damage was immense :3

We have a really well established server here, I like the idea of opening it up for the public.

Well here's a newsflash. We've got things to do. School, work, lives. Sure there's not going to be a mod on 24/7, but there's ones that check in frequently at least. If you actually read my post on the previous page, I said the server backs up every 15 minutes. We can just roll back.

Also I thought you'd left the server.

Oh hehe. That was just an idea. I was confused of how you had to walk around the house. And the little center bit where the logs are in a square wasn't even, and it annoyed me. :p If you want me to change it back I can :)

I did, I was making a point that if there is going to be more people need more security, but if most of the mods/admins are in the UK, then there is a "dead" zone which is anywhere from probably 4 am to about 10 am Central Time (Roughly 6 hours) , which anyone can do anything and probably get away with it.
Also you did say that it backs up every 15 minutes, does that over write the previous update? If it does then someone can destroy a building and if the backup can't save it then you have a problem.
 
Might I remind you that Spongey and I are both in Australia. We both fill the dead zone that occurs with the UK and US residents. Spongey is Deputy, I am Moderator, and Dunc says he's going to revamp the jail soon due to a misshap earlier today.

EDIT: And no, as far as I know, it takes continuous saves, hence why we have unlimited storage. We can backdate to the first reasonable save, and like I said, what's wrong with us getting off our lazy rears and fixing some damages. Won't kill us.

Hmm some mishap eh? Due to the "lack of" Moderation.

Also you are the only one in Australia since I know something that you obviously don't know. Either way it's a big mess and the server should of just been terminated so everyone can go do their own server.
 
A back-up often doesn't work, every good griefer knows that your meant to plant trees over the damage, to cause further problems upon rollback..

If this server ever gets shut down by Dunc, I would probably rent out some rack space and host one myself :D if it wasn't for our little server here I'd have my own already ^_^

A back-up often doesn't work, every good griefer knows that your meant to plant trees over the damage, to cause further problems upon rollback..

If griefs are a problem then you could get world guard. Also there are some other plugins which let you protect your stuff yourself (not get a mod to) and you can limit the size of land that people can protect according to their rank. You can also make each block cost a certain amount to be protected which would help the economy (somehow).


I'm going to get a gaming PC, what would you say is god spec and should I build it or buy it?

What? It's a fun place, plenty of scope for creativity and we have a laugh when a few people are on too. Last time I went online there were 3-4 people on there all having lots of discussion and doing lots of building! Nobody is forcing you to use it. If you don't like it then just don't play on it, there's no need to try and bring everyone else down!

Going back to the first pages of this thread makes me reminisce about the early days when it was all about the building and not the bickering...

Well, I am Australian too...but I guess I've only been back for about 3 days, so I wouldn't count that

I wish I was around in the Rapture days, when people would pop on daily to see new creations, seeing responses to the sign they left outside the spawn. With awesome group builds, excitement, no fighting.. Hope..

EDIT: @Jai yeah, those were the days. There was PvP matches though, but it was only if both people agree'd, and it was all fine. Now even if both people agree you still get in trouble.

Anyway, things were so nice. Things actually felt tranquil in some aspects.

Since my latest project has gone bust until Dunc sorts out what i need, I was thinking of getting in and cleaning up Rapture a bit. Like, planting some tree's back, fixing the lava lake, the lava walk, the roadways. Just patching a few things up here and there. Restoring it to her original beauty. Anyone with me?
