Um ... what's race #1? Oh wait, I've just been putting so much blood, sweat, and tears into a waaarrmmm uppppp :duh: I thought the first week of T2 submissions was the warmup and then the final time was the actual race, it didn't sawn on me that the whole thing 'didn't count' :p

Oh, and with me working for the bulk of today ... and the next 11 hrs or so ... it's probably not worth NOT submitting, so I've sent my time in (I take it that the time zone thing was too unwieldy to manage?).

Oh, so this is just a Warmup Race, not Race #1 itself? :indiff:

Well, I am glad I didn't kill myself over it, then... :D

Yes, that was only a "warm-up race" so that we get used to the car, the way it brakes, accelerates and turns, and can get the best of the Cooper in the 6 races to come.
Sorry, I don't understand your remark about the time zone thing.

Edit :
Ok, I'm a frenchman and my english may sometimes be terrible, but I can't do much more than calling the thread "Mini Cup : warm-up race" when it is a warm-up race :odd: Can I ?

flat-out

Oh no, it's not you, it's me ... :airhead:

8 hours left for submissions.
I'll post the results in about 20 hours only.

Aaaaaaah!!! I can't wait! The wait is worse than the frustration of not being able to beat my time. (and Barbol's. Hehe.)

I think I'm going to start a race series, just so I can know who wins before everyone else does. LOL

Race #1 has been posted HERE for those that didn't know.

Warm-up race is over since I just posted an updated leaderboard with final times. Ok, that's 10 minutes before 08:00am GMT but I didn't expect any other submission. Anyway, it's now too late.
Actually it's as close on the finish line as it was on T2 split time.
👍

And now the real racing (the one which is worth points) can start.

I'm not creating a results thread, I'll just reuse the same old one.
Just feel free to post your replays here (for those who have a Shark-port, an X-port, a Maxdrive or simply a video).
I'll upload mine next week-end as I didn't bring my X-port along.

7th out of 14, right in the middle, like usual :indiff: ;)

flat-out, you beat me by 0.070 seconds... that was close :D

Will post my replay as soon as I have a chance.

Wow,

Damn good warm-up. Everyone put in good times. This series can only get better. I like Tsukuba, but I'm not too comfortable on Autumn Ring, yet. I may be at the other end of the leaderboard this time.

Damn you Barbol. Good Run, Dude. I'll try to post my Xport replay tonight. I'm off to Autumn Ring, now. C Ya.

Well I didn't come last, which I guess is something, but I can see that I was half a second slower over both half of the track. It's kinda neat in a way to be in that position, because it makes me wonder where I was losing time ... there were really only two corners after the T2 checkpoint, so I'm surprised that I lost .5 seconds on them.

A nice - if not slightly frustrating - race :p

Was a nice drive. I think i braked a little to hard into the last corner.

Out of interest, how many laps did you guys do?
i did about 60

I did about 10 full laps. Just not enough time...
I don't think I'll be running the actual series; I have some GT mode projects keeping me busy, but ya never know, maybe I'll need another break. ;)

Congrats to the podium folks!

Thanks for the well-organized and fun race, flat-out! 👍

Lordy, you can see where the true talent lies around here ... I did maybe 60 PLUS laps (10-20 for about 4-5 evenings) :p

Congrats on the win, Barbol. Great racing, buddy. 👍

And congrats to Mojo and RacyBacy for their podiums.

And thanks to everybody for the tight competition all the way from top to bottom. 👍

I did 50 laps. The last 25 with no improvements. I'm a slow racer, usually I do around 100-200 just to avoid getting last. If you don't have the talent, you have to work hard. :D Can't get you all the way, but it's amazing how much time I sometimes cut off, just by pure stubbornness. :dopey:

I ran about 40 laps, which is a huge amount compared to what I race usually. There were 2 reasons for that :
1) the lap is pretty short, only a minute
2) I've been trying to catch my ghost because I could run much faster T2s (about 0.4 sec faster) : I never manager to run a damn fast last sector again.

@ Eggmann : just join the Cup whenever you fancy a Mini (thus, slow) race.

@ everybody : thanks for the compliments and for the effort you put in this race. I hope you'll like the races as much as the warm-up.

I wouldn't say I'm that "talented;" I put in hours upon hours for GT3 races to make the top half of the field. I spent 55 hours getting all golds in GT4, and I'm sure many have done that quicker.
In addition to the ~ 10 full laps, I also restarted about 20-30 more times, cuz I could tell by T1 or T2 that a lap wasn't worth finishing.
Anyways, if I was all that talented, I would've done better than 4th. :p

I'm honestly not sure how many laps I ran. I'm sure it was around 40-50 or so. I ran more laps trying to beat my final ghost, than I did actually getting that time, LOL. Thanks for the congrats NielsG.

I was actually really surprised that I did so well. I have traded times against my friends locally, for a while now in GT3, and I started to run in the ISCC, but then GT4 came out and everyone quit for now. So this is really my first OLR race series. And a great one to start on, I might add.

Off to Autumn ring to kick some "ghost" arse. hehe

About 25, 30 top.

When I first joined OLR's, it used to take me at least 50-60 laps to get to my limit.

Now it takes me half of them. Then I usually spend the other half of them improving my limit and pushing it further, ending up anywhere from 0.200 to 0.700 faster than what I had after the first half.

This time I did not do it for lack of time and because I could not get anywhere close to my best time, within 10-15 more laps that I was running, so I quit out of frustration.

When the WRS will be back up, I am going to make my goal being in Division 1, whether it is from the start (Qualification Race), or from experience and races. I am tired of being in the middle of Division 2. I know the skills are there, and they are starting to show, as I am running way better times and way easier than I was when I first joined.

We will see.

For now, thank you for these races, flat-out 👍

The Wizard.

Can I ask where abouts you guys typically rank (in the WRS)? I'm curious as to the pedigree I rubbing shoulders with here :p :notworthy:

Middle top half of Division 2 (middle division).

Therefore, average of the average.

Hence, the being tired of it 👎
I don't care if I am going to have to start to run 100-200 laps per weekend, I am leaving that place :D

Here is my NTSC/NA replay file in XPS format. (Xport) For those that don't know...this isn't a replay video. You must have some sort of transfer device to your PS2, like a Sharport or Xport or MaxDrive.

I wish I had the knowledge to make videos, but I don't. sorry. I would like to see other's replays if you can. I learn much from watching other techniques.

I haven't tried the WRS yet, but I will shortly.

Thanks for hosting my replay GTP.

I also ended up doing about 20-30 worthless laps and not being able to go any faster. The first turn is still a bit of a problem for me.

This is the first OLR i'm taking part in so i'm not really sure if my time was all that good. I am however very glad that i came 5th and thought i'd be closer to 10th or so.

I'm not sure what good is either, but I think that we all did great. This is a pretty hard car/track combo, It's hard to maintain speed through those corners. We all put in some awsome lap times. And I'd say 5th is damn good.

I'm very happy in my first OLR win :sly:

Congrats to Mojo and RacyBacy for fill the podium 👍

And thanks to Flat-out for organize this event 👍

My pal replay:
