Why does everyone hate them? I think it's awesome that there's so many regular everyday cars in GT games, because for me it's alot more fun turning any regular car into a hardcore racer, than having half of the cars in the game already be hardcore racers. There's one exception though, there have to be body kits, at least to some extent, even if it's just a simple racing modification like in GT2, because there's no way that I'll stand racing a minivan for long with the same old soccer mom car look.

i believe that it has ben confirmed about racing mods, and in pics from e3 there is a "paint shop" where you can supposedly change the color of your car, no body kits though

on topic, I LOVE MINIVANS!! lol when my friend comes ova, we race minis and wagons on the tracks, so much fun goin at 80 mph in 6th:D

I think it adds to the scope of the game, adding a selection of Estates paves the way for a race series dedicated to Estates, and with GT4, even online competitions. I don't think PD would waste time giving the minivans and estates bodykits though as it would be a minority that would want them over kits for cars like the S200 and TVR Cerbera ect.

EDIT, race mods have not been confirmed, body kit's have, in real life there is no such thing as a race mod, there is such a thing as a race car with a body kit. Body kit doesn't automatically mean a car is decked in a NFS:U style r!cer kit.

the slower, the better.
methinks it´s real fun to drive an everyday car and try to be as fast as possible with low hp.
:D

I have fond memories of taking the Autech tuned Nissan Stagea and having drafting fun back and forth with a Corvette Grand Sport at the Test Course in GT2.

The first part of every GT game is the best. the time when you have to race in crappy slow cars and you have to modify them to become low level race cars. I loved tuning and racing the Yaris at the start of GT3 (until i realised that the Trueno would have been more sensible!)

I won't mind wagons and minivans just as long as they don't displace some worthy performance cars from being in the game. I'd much rather drive a BMW Z4 than a Honda Odyssey...

I agree. I can't imagine your average mainstream buyer will buy GT4 over R: Racing or Forza because it has their minivan in it as opposed to the latest Bentley or Audi LM racer.

When was the "paint shop" confirmed? did I miss something here....

It was shown in a presentation at E3, it was on a screen along with the other features of GT4. The picture of said screen is kicking around these forums in a couple of threads.

I'd love to see what I could do with this with stiff springs, good adjustable coilovers, and some Hoosiers on it...

Right now in GT2 I'm working towards getting enough cash to get the racing modification for Dodge Crysler Intrepid, it's even got a hood scoop! Thing looks mint!

Damn it to hell! I wanted to come up with this topic. But now that it's out, good job, Rocky.

I don't have anything to contribute yet, but to answer the question of XBOX getting Gran Turismo 4, here I go. I'm sorry. Gran Turismo is Sony exclusive, I mean, why don't XBOX give us PS2 people Project Gotham? Anyhow, no. The PS2 is a game console, the XBOX is a PC gaming rig embodied in a console. I don't think it would look good even if Bizzare Creations came up with the game.

Anyhow, minivans and station wagons would be fun. That Dodge Magnum would be nice if it gets into the game in time. And that Dodge Intrepid in GT2? It's a certifiable drag racer with the racing mod. Only thing is, you can road race it.

the XBOX is a PC gaming rig embodied in a console

and the nVIDIA chipset used by the xbox is already out of date

and PC game developers are already utilizing new nVIDIA graphic engines that cannot be handeled by the nVIDIA chip set used in the xbox,,,
:trouble:

But, of course, let's stay with the topic. We can have our PS2 vs XBOX b*tchings elsewhere.

While minivans are one of the worst creations ever, I like to see as many cars as possible in the game as possible.

Station wagons are cool by me, too.

That just gave me an idea. Probably been said before anyway but..... You now how there is the different brands of rims in the GT series? What if there could be a battle of the tyre brands? Eg Hoosier, Bridgestone, Michelin, Dunlop and Firestone. Just to add the extra bit of fight to it.

I like Wagon's and van's. Go racing around in a Mitsubishi Delica van. OHHHHH YEEEAAAA!!!

One minivan I would like to see is the Renault F1 van, the 1995 Renault Espace F1 Concept
It would be great to try it out,,
Though I think it was in GT2 can’t remember correctly,,
was it in GT2?

EEEEWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! I hate mitsubishi delicias. They're so ugly.

Anyway, on topic. I think its good that minivans and wagons are in GT4. It adds an extra twist to the game. I hope they have a few utes to.

Utes would be interesting. You would need to put a fair bit of lead over the arse to keep the thing straight.

This is a good idea. The only problem I can see is the agreements some car companies have with their tyre suppliers on new cars or deals race teams have with tyre manufacturers. Some championships use control tyres and this would be another problem with being able to change the brand of tyre you use. Then again, it worked with the wheels so it could work with the tyres too.

There was the idea of different fuel, tyre and other component supplies floating around in another thread. Sounds good to me.

The Espace F1 was indeed in GT2.

nael: Duh. Everything you own is outdated before you bought it basically.

I thought it was in GT2, but I guess that’s what you get when you have over 500 cars, a lot of cars with no much kick,,, or “depth”
Too much is as good as too little

well at least it looks more interesting (sporty) than some otha minivans.....like the toyota dB which i think is in prologue.....there basically the same car......the nissan elgrand may actaully end up in GT4!
