Hmmmm, my Russian isn't good enough to work out what they're saying. Sounds like something about destroying hope. I think.

Oh teh noes the Ruskis are the evil overlords once again? America has been original once again... (facepalm)

What I make out with my Russian is, that he says: Two. Use everything for your advantage. ( I translated the english one btw.)

(Dwa. Ispolsewaisja fsjom s'wajimu...)

Yeah something like that, and now I get it, in every of one of these little trailers he gives "battle strategies", therefore dwa=two, the second one. Too lazy to translate all the others right now.)

I'm sure there are people who have already dissected every aspect of the short teaser trailers and the latest reveal trailer.

I thought it was a decent trailer. Looks like the typical action packed gameplay we've come to expect. I'm not getting too excited yet. All I know is that if I hear about Commando, Danger Close and Tactical Nukes being in this game then that's it for me, no purchase.

Seriously? ANOTHER game in NYC?? :guilty:

So now thats at least 19 games all within the last few years with something in New York City. I have nothing against NYC but come on.

I don't know why western developers seem to keep doing the same US cities over and over and OVER again, are they scared no one will by the game if its set in, god forbid, another country! LA is another location they can't seem to get enough of.

True Crime Hong Kong got canned and The Getaway is never coming back so it looks like big US cities forever then!

Robin.

I'm worried about the scuba part. That could fail big time if they try to do too much with it. I'm also hoping for a cover system of some sort like the part near the end with the guy blind-firing over the little cinder block wall. It doesn't need to be fancy, just let me duck behind barriers and fire over or shoot around corners. That's one thing that bugs me somewhat with quite a few shooters. No one just stands out in the open in the middle of an urban battleground.

Also interesting how they've included their own version of a collapsing high rise, ala the BF3 trailers.

The basic premise of this game kinda turns me off the campaign. Seriously? Russia invading the world? It's not in the least bit plausible, in a real life scenario, Russia wouldn't be able to take Europe, let alone America, or both. If this story seriously involves Russia taking both America and Europe, I don't even know what they were thinking.

However, I don't mind, I'll probably rent this game and decide whether or not it's worth buying later. And really, online multiplayer is where I'll be spending the majority of my time with the game.

MW2 wasn't much better. You go and break out Makarov's "worst enemy" from the Gulag. Price launches a missile that sets off an EMP and everyone's OK with it. A U.S. General wants to be a war hero so he basically starts WW3 with Russia. The bad guy you were chasing the entire game is suddenly your buddy and tells you where the General is hiding. Plausibility is definitely not something this series is known for.

Why you don't start bitching at the movie industry, too?

I posted the translations to all of them, already....

Yeah! Screw the fact that England, Germany, & France are also in this game.

My god, crying about the location is the biggest con? Sounds like IW has a real winner with this game.

Complaining about the single-player in what is an extremely multiplayer-centric franchise, no less.

There was a discussion about "Pro" perks related to MW3 in one of the other CoD threads. It got me thinking that one potentially nice tweak to the system is to maintain the Pro unlocks for perks. However I think it would spice things up a bit if the game limited to only 1 active Pro perk. So let's say you have, thinking of BO here, Ghost Pro, Slight of Hand Pro and Hacker Pro all unlocked. Obviously using all these in combination makes for a pretty effective class (GP - undetectable by UAV's & Chopper's, SoHP - quicker ADS, HP - undetectable by motion sensors & can hack equip). Now with the above tweak, you obviously can still use all these perks in combination but you only get to choose 1 to get its Pro upgrade.

So think about your favorite classes a little from MW2 & BO. If you could only roll with 1 Pro upgrade I think it would really level the playing field alot. No only that, but it would make 3xPro stacking advantages simply not existent. Ala my example above I would no longer be invisible to aircraft and invisible to motion sensors, which is a pretty trick combo you gotta admit and maybe even a little over powered.

I guess you're right, but I felt that the general premise of a Russian invasion was somewhat plausible, but it was just taken too far.

Ultimately I don't care that much, the single player should still be entertaining. I hope MW3's campaign has a similar gritty feel like Black Ops' campaign did. I really enjoyed the Black Ops campaign, and I think MW3 could perhaps be just as gritty with the locations and set pieces.

Really though, I'll play the campaign once on regular for the fun, and then once on Veteran for trophies. Otherwise, if I buy this game it'll be for multiplayer primarily.

Looks like there will be single player, spec ops, multiplayer and a co op campaign.
http://www.nowgamer.com/news/5916/mw3-co-op-campaign-confirmed
Infinity Ward has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3's campaign mode will feature two-player co-op.
Modern Warfare 3 was demonstrated live at a pre-E3 event in London earlier this week.
During the session, Sledgehammer’s VP & general manager Glen Schofield confirmed that the core campaign would feature two-player co-op.

Activision also showcased 2 levels of the game earlier this week in London.

ThunderToro is virtually blowing up on Twitter because he thinks he's being fed information about all the perks and killstreaks in MW3 MP, I personally think whoever he's getting his info off (F1stdacuffs) is taking the piss because the killstreaks and perk setups are just plain retarded (summed up here by me for your convenience):

3 - UAV, single-location Mortar Strike
7 - Attack Chopper, Stealth Bomber
8 - Harrier, Global Hawk (Blackbird)
9 - EMP, Pavelow, Emergency Airdrop, Fire Scout (Attack heli + UAV)
13 - AC-130
15 - Chopper Gunner
18 - Nuclear EMP (disables enemy perks for 30 seconds)
?? - Nuke

Perks have four tiers: default and three upgrades
Scavenger Pro can resupply all equipment
Ghost is back, called "covert". Blocks UAV, killstreaks and killcams
Lightweight is in same tier as Covert, level 2 is longer sprint, level 3 is crouch walk faster and move faster while prone

Ghost blocking enemy killcams? Faster crawling while prone? Really now :odd:

F1st is an attention-seeking d-bag, so I'll believe this when Robert Bowling/Guy Beahm officially announce the MP features....

edit: ok, so now F1st is saying it's nothing more than speculation - I knew he was BSing right from the start, because he's such an attention seeker.

More rumors starting to surface.
http://www.thegamingvault.com/2011/05/rumor-modern-warfare-3-perks-and-kill-streaks-leaked/

I've put together some classes.

Camper
Perk 1: Covert - No killcam,no deathmarks, undetected by Killstreaks
Perk 2: Weapon Master - Two primary weapons and a pistol
Perk 3: Bandoiler - Extra mags, more starting ammo, extra grenades

The Annoying Dropshot Guy
Perk 1: Specialist - run faster and farther
Perk 2: Reflexes - quicker knife and go prone faster
Perk 3: Infiltrator - silent steps

It's interesting to see that Bling allows 3 attachments and the default is two attachments.

Engineer III being able to defuse the bomb faster? I don't like the sound of that at all.

13 kills for AC-130 and 15 kills for Chopper Gunner. If killstreak reward kills count towards your overall killstreak then this is a very, very bad idea.

Oh well, don't wanna comment too much on what could end up being false information. I think I'll wait until E3 to see what official information they release.

Ahh my bad. I checked the link again and they posted an update. Glad to hear it's just a fan list.
Update: Having been contacted by an unnamed administrator at the Modern Warfare 3 Forums, it’s been brought to my attention that the following post is a copy-paste job from this post on the forums.

As rumors go (as this was titled, but a ton of people seem to have neglected that), I was directed to the original source by a friend and as it turns out, it’s not real at all. It’s a fan-list of perks and kill streaks and is not a leaked list at all. The original writer is 17-years-old and has no affiliation with Activision or Infinity Ward.

Apologies for any confusion.

So far I'm completely underwhelmed by the information and trailers from MW3, it just looks like another COD game. Sure I'll probably get it, but unlike last year I wasn't looking for a COD game without all the broken MW2 shenanigans so I'm in no hurry and ultimately the COD series has lost it's appeal to me other than to play with friends. Won't be a pre-order in other words, I'll wait until maybe Xmas or just borrow it.

As far as I can see, so far Battlefield 3 has blitzed MW3 trailer for trailer and looks much more appealing to me though I don't mean to start a BF vs COD war it's just where my taste sits and so far I think BF3 has been sold much better. I want BF3 now whereas I couldn't care much less about MW3 at this point in time, when I like both series near equally and accept they have advantages over one another.

New info, which can be consider as bad news.

From this article published today by Gamasutra MW3 will be launched with a paid based service called "Call Of Duty Elite",which is an additional extra payment to existing online gaming services(XBL,PSN),what they say is that portions of the game will be unlock in the disc, while DLC packs will be available for download with a monthly subscription service, according to the article the price of the service will not surpass the 8.00 USD mark.

However,I think that is some kind of abuse against loyal customers,I know that MW games are good and online is popular, but is not so much to pay for for maps and perks,I know that B4F uses the same scheme but they offer the game free, while here the game is offered at retail price.

So,is pathetic really, but it was coming since a year or so,wait for confirmation from another source thought.

Until the details have been officially announced (Robert Bowling said there's an announcement coming in the morning), what will be paid content and what will not is pure speculation...

It's looking to be nothing more than a social network for COD, pay a small amount and have access to user videos, special forums, in-depth stat tracking etc. Go check out the Elite screenshot in the WSJ article Gamasutra linked to, there's nothing there to suggest exclusive DLC or the like.

I read this too in a Wall Street Journal article. The only confusion that I have is whether this subscription-based platform is optional. By that I mean that as I read it, the subscription would include DLC and some extras. If the standard maps are there for free, then it won't be such a huge snafu.

With Battlefield 3 coming out and looking ridiculous, this kind of decision by Acclaim just cost them $60 x a boatload of people who don't want to pay for online content.

Every website should have a preview up by now, for quick reference here's a link to Eurogamer's:
Call of Duty: Elite - Preview

Also there's a signup for the beta, here's that link.

Edit...
There's actually a "trailer" of sorts already posted on YT. For people only interested in MW3 stuff it does make a very brief cameo at the very end.

Sounds like it's just CoDBook. A place for people who feel the need to brag incessantly to go to brag incessantly. To be quite honest, none of it really appeals to me personally. The franchise stat tracking, while nice, is a bit useless since MW3 is the only game I'll probably have that is included. The community events and tournaments and whatnot sound good on paper, but it could get messy. It also doesn't seem worth the extra fee just to enter a few matches. I give them props for keeping some of the basics free though, they could have easily made the whole thing a pay service.

It's been a long time since I fired up MW2, but weren't airdrops like the first thing you could get from a kill streak? :odd:

Partial Perks and Killstreaks List Leaked, will now include Team Perks (this sounds kinda concerning).

Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer details leak
Details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer modes have appeared, courtesy of a Kotaku source.

According to the tipster, multiplayer will be split between traditional maps and co-op Spec Ops maps. As reported last week, the latter will include both a survival mode and mission-based stages.

It's thought that around 20 maps are currently being worked on, though it's not clear how many will come with the game and how many will be offered post-launch as DLC.

As with Modern Warfare 2, there are no plans to bring over Treyarch's zombie modes.

Perks and killstreaks are back, with a number of tweaks. First up, you'll be able to earn team perks. No word on exactly how this will work but it would seem to tie in nicely with the new Elite social platform announced earlier this week.

Details of four team perks were handed over by the source:

Stopping Power: Increased bullet damage
Blast Shield: Unclear
Health Regen: Regenerate health over time
Stun Protection: Prevent stunning from flash grenades

In addition to those, there'll be a number of new standard perks, reportedly including the following:

Blind Eye: This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks. The pro version makes your launchers lock on faster and gives you extra bullet damage to vehicles.
Assassin: This makes you immune to UAV, thermal, and heartbeat sensors. The pro version also makes you immune to CUAV, EMP and no longer shows your name in red or the crosshair in red when you're targeted.
Point Guard: Every two assists count as a kill towards your killstreak.
Dead Silence: You make no noise.
Recon: Gives you a special kind of radar to spot enemies, most likely. We're not sure on this one.

As for killstreaks, the controversial Tactical Nuke has apparently been ditched. In its place are a number of new additions, including:

EMP Grenade: Temporarily takes out all area electronics
Littlebird: A tiny remote-controlled helicopter
Precision Airstrike: Calls in an airstrike on a targeted area
Stealth bomber: Calls in a B2 Spirit to carpet bomb along a line designated by the player
Remote Turret: A remote controlled turret
Directional UAV: A UAV that can be directed into areas to scan for enemies
Remote Mortar: Direct a mortar team using a zoomable camera view of the map to call in strikes
Airdrop Trap: A booby-trapped airdrop
Ammo Resupply: An ammo reloading airdrop
Escort Airdrop: A protected airdrop
Specialist Strike Package: This one remains a mystery to us

Finally, the insider claims that, as with MW2 and Black Ops, there are no plans to support dedicated servers.

The latest entry in the juggernaut FPS franchise launches on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 8th November. Take a look at our recent first impressions piece for more.

JIC here's the original Kotaku link that does have a longer introduction if anyone cares:
http://kotaku.com/5805959/the-modern-warfare-3-files-team-perks-no-nukes-new-killstreaks

Also surely when they use the term "immune" for Blind Eye and Assassin they mean "invisible."

Some good things here if it's all true

- no zombie mode
- no nuke
- some nice looking kill streak rewards

I will probably be buying this unless there is alot of things to be anounced that I won't be liking, last year GT5 had an advantage over Black Ops.

Luckily they released another trailer that showed a LOT more locations other than NYC.

Hey now, I'm quite interested in single player as much as I am the multiplayer. :p
Same here. In fact I usually have more fun with the single player than the multiplayer. Especially in WAW which had a 4 player co-op campaign. Regardless I am sure this will only be a rental for me since they pop out one of these every single year. If it has a 4 player co-op I might consider it, but most likely it will be a rental especially since its IW.

@icelt: fourzerotwo then came out and said no Stopping Power (along with nukes, OMA and Commando) on Twitter, so that list is already wrong...
