@icelt: fourzerotwo then came out and said no Stopping Power (along with nukes, OMA and Commando) on Twitter, so that list is already wrong...

SP being out is good to hear IMHO. OMA & Commando being out is even better news :D

I don't know if I could split time between MW3 and B3. We'll have to see which is better.

I have no choice. If I want to play games with my sons and nephews I need to buy this game. Despite buying them both GT5, I haven't played an online game with them in over 8 months.

Bf3 is going to use frostbite 2, i belive bc2 is just frostbite, (i believe its the destruction program), but last i heard were rumors that the lawsuit over cod was going to stop the mw series, but then again just really old rumors, so mw3 comes as a surprise to me, this is the first I have heard of it. Since i bought bc2 over a year maybe 1.5 years ago, i have only picked up mw2 once

Since I've seen the question come up a few times, here's basically what the new "hybrid sight" is that has been mentioned in the previews. It is a combo holographic/ACOG scope arranged to where you can flip one out of the way to switch between the two. Something similar to what is shown in these photos.

Looks like MW2 DLC to me.

Really, should be a perfectly fun game, CoD is great fun for what it is. It's a simple, point and shoot, run and gun shooting game, and that's OK. The campaign's premise is a tad silly, Russia invading Europe and America at the same time, but ultimately what matters is online multiplayer. It probably won't deviate much from the standard CoD formula, but it's hard to argue with the success that the CoD series has had. I imagine it will be good fun, and they'll sell boatloads of copies. However, I don't think I'll be buying this game, BF3, and Skyrim are both coming out around that time, and I'll probably be buying NHL 12 in September.

All that being said, I didn't think I was going to buy Black Ops, but I bought it launch day and was happy with the game. I didn't play Black Ops much (still haven't prestiged, only just got to level 50), but I enjoy it more than MW2. I'm just tired of Call of Duty games, I played CoD 4 a ton, WaW a lot, MW2 a lot, Black Ops a fair bit, and I think the general formula and gameplay is starting to get a bit stale. I like BF:BC2 because it's a good changeup from the CoD series, and it's looking like BF3 will be more of what I love in Battlefield.

When I think about it, I should probably skip this game, considering I'll be buying two other AAA titles (Skyrim, BF3), but in all honesty I'll probably end up buying it anyway, just like I did with MW2 and Black Ops. Actually, I'll probably end up as one of the fabled Christmas noobs. I like Black Ops to shut my brain off and unwind, and perhaps a new flavour of that will be fun with MW3.

Well, here is one vid that I wanted to see from quite a lot time ago:

Black Tuesday:

Key aspects:

>The double sight scope is confirmed.
>The kotaku leak a couple of weeks back seems to be accurate.
>There is a slight graphical improvement over MW2(maybe a new lighting engine, noticeable in interior's lighting).
>Close grenades now have an effect on player movement(?).
>Sound effects improved(Hind and UH60 sounds are more accurate).

However,I think that the game doest push graphical boundaries, because it has to maintain the 60fps mark on consoles,I didn't consider this as a big deal until I recently play Crysis 2,it does have a huge effect on gameplay, however I will say that Crysis 2(personally)looks better than MW3(thus far),my gripe about this its that BF3 has to be torn down so it can provide acceptable performance on consoles(30 fps),Crysis 2 does this as well, but MW3 doesn't show any technical improvements on this aspect, and its really painful to see such amazing concepts scaled down just to provide 60 fps.

Having said that,I think that I will stick to BF3,however I'll be getting this to see how the story ends(hopefully) and just to see more cities turn into pieces(which is ironic because MW3,Crysis 2 and BF3 have a map in New York,Paris will be featured in both BF3 and MW3,and Hamburg isn't a city that I want to see into pieces).

Finally,I think(personal opinion) that COD games have just become outdated to their competence,on its gameplay systems and on their technical capabilities.

It still looks really good, but I'm getting tired of the "plastic gun" sounds... that double scope is cool but I don't think I'll be able to get around the sound. Anybody who thinks it sounds better than BF sounds has no ears IMO.

Bad company 2 uses Frostbite 1.5 (which is the game engine) and Destruction 2.0. Battlefield 3 will have Frostbite 2 and Destruction 3.0.

Anyway, I'm not sure whether I'll bother with MW3...

100% more of the same. So pretty much what we expected.

Noted as pickups: AK-47's, AT-4, SPAS-12 & P90 Holo. So nothing new there. 9-bangs look cool though and the sighted grenade launcher is at least novel I guess.

On the impressive scale however, this is no where close to BF3 based on this video.

Take away the 9 bang, double sight and sighted grenade launcher and that could literally pass as a level in MW2. In those 10 minutes there was nothing that made me go, "wow!". I still want to give MW3 a chance but are these guys even trying? :indiff:

I think one could ague that given all the chaos related to the Infinity Ward Implosion of early 2010, things seem to be turning out remarkably well (ie not a complete cluster 🤬). Your talking about the former lead, and maybe even sole, developer for all things MW losing both of its founders and 50%ish of its entire staff. Not only did they have to recover from that, with no change in the release schedule I'll note, but then Activision stuck on a new studio to the project in Sledgehammer. A studio who was only given the "minor" task of the game's entire online component. Also a studio who up to that point had never had their hands on the code or developed an online FPS shooter yet.

So all and all, I think they'll be doing pretty damn good to pull off "more of the same." This all assumes SH's online design is up to snuff... we still haven't seen much of that yet.

All that being said, it very much looks like BF3 is gonna wipe the floor with MW3 from just about every meaningful metric. Early yet I understand, but that's my gut feeling at this point.

I don't understand how they haven't updated the sounds at all. It's similar to the horrifically bad sounds in the GT series, Battlefield Bad Company 2 got it right. Perhaps not "realistic", but they sound like firearms on a 5.1 system. MW3 sounds like my airsoft gun.

That being said, sure it still looks good, but other than the double sights, there's really nothing new.

Official Spec Ops Survival mode trailer. Also has what I believe is a sneak peek at the actual multiplayer at the end - appears to use a Homefront-style "point streak" for the killstreak system instead of the typical kills. Looks promising.

I dislike the amount of anger about the graphics.

Mw2 had impeccable graphics, then Black Ops had toned down, average ones, I don't see what the issue is with going BACK to an engine that worked? I mean, look at Counter Strike? It's been a HUGE PC shooter since it came out, the graphics on that aren't anything like they are on this, and thats run on PC! Something capable of way more than a console.

As for gameplay, I cannot wait. The story-line seems a bit off for me, so it almost looks as if i'll be going straight to multiplayer or to the Survival Mode (Which looks awesome)

Also, you know you're going to end up buying the game, even if you say it's bad. Everyone at the start of Black Ops was complaining that it was bad, even I was, and I STILL play it.

So not trying to start an opinion war, but this Spec Ops mode looks sooooo much better than zombies to me. Beyond comparison really IMHO.

Like the "bouncing betty" at the end of the video there.

Noticed "ACR 6.8" in one of the procurement parts so JFF here's the ACR marketing video:

Edit....
Here's the FMG9 (Folding Machine Gun) from the very end of the vid:

Also based on that ending portion player cards might be gone from the competitive online mode and KS rewards look to be unlocked by "point streaks" as opposed to pure "kill streaks." If true then getting assists, maybe marking targets, etc would all contribute to your next reward. Kinda like the idea myself if true.

Well, maybe to you but it's nothing too new. It's like BattleField Bad Company 2's add-on onslaught mode, only without exploding buildings. I'm sure there will be something innovative about it, then again...

I just preordered this game today :D on PS3, is the campaign a prologue or is it a sequel to MW2? Because I really want to find out what comes after MW2s ending :D

That is awesome!

I may be of the rare few in the gaming world, but Survival/Horde game modes are my absolute favorite. For me, I love the thrill of only having a few other players as you attempt to hold out against wave after & wave of enemies.

I'm betting it's there, but I hope you can play with other, random players in the mode. Different series altogether, but I was very happy when Reach added that option unlike ODST which locked it to Friends only; hated that.

I hope survival is a lot like firefight. I have so much fun just creating gametypes, chilling with friends, or going online. I hope they also add something like custom games in Halo, except that you can search for different custom games.

tbh, Survival mode would be the only reason I'd buy this game :indiff:. If I buy this, I'll end up playing with the same jerks who got Black Ops (I can't just join another game because there won't be one - stupid tiny population of NZ :grumpy:). I'm torn between the COD-style multiplayer (when I mute everyone) and Survival Mode, and the awesome sniping in BF3.

Oh, and I don't see how any epic easter eggs can find their way into Survival, like Zombies :D
