P2P hosting on consoles just to name a few.
Console games very rarely get dedicated servers (Gears of War and BF3 are the only ones off the top of my head) and when you're not even giving the PC crowd proper dedis, consoles are still going to use P2P >_>

Come on Steam, I want to preload already :grumpy:

True, hoping for dedicated servers would be a little too much. Perhaps just an improvement in the hosting system. Other FPS games I've played on PSN have such better systems. Actually I'd go as far as saying that ALL the other games I've played on PSN have better systems. I've never had another game pause in the middle of a match/race/whatever and say "migrating host...connecting to new host". Don't even get me started on the variety of messages you can get - "Could not migrate host, Unable to connect to host, Server timed out" etc. It's 2011 and two Modern Warfare games later and I'm still going to have to put up with that? :indiff:

This game does look pretty good but the 20 DLCs and CoD Elite aren't making it look too good for me.

*Does spit take* TWENTY DLCS? Why haven't I heard about this? Are they gonna be the normal price of $15, or only a few bucks?

I don't know if there were 20 DLCs or the guy in GameStop was just BSing me O_o I don't think they are all map packs with a few maps there might be a map or two and other stuff in the DLCs.

And the guy said 20 DLCs. O_o

Sounds like you were just being trolled into thinking that buying Elite would save you $1,000,000. Seems like most people that work at Gamestop are only there to steal people's money. :p

I didn't buy Elite. It seems like a big waste of money. Telling me that there are 20 DLCs makes me sort of NOT want to buy the game, but I said "20 DLCs? That's insane." :p

I'm getting the Hardened Edition, just because I feel like the massive number of DLCs (compared to other games, at least) will add up to more than $40, which is the difference between just a copy of the game and Hardened.

How much is the hardened edition? And it comes with the year long elite package!

Edit: just found out it's $100, wasn't Black Ops' $80?

black-ops was 80 but didnt come with everything and also with black ops there was also the $120 prestige edition this year no prestige edition but hardened has alot more stuff with it.

from IGN the 5 reasons MW3 will not disapoint
here is the link but I will post there reasons there are movies that go along with each reason on the websitehttp://xbox360.ign.com/articles/121/1211332p1.html

The past year has seen a hell of a lot of smack-talk in the realm of modern-day war shooters. It's been Battlefield 3 versus Modern Warfare 3 all year, with the tantalizing prospect of a very public grudge match between publishers always simmering in the background.

That never quite eventuated, however. While EA came out swinging at its competitor, signalling its intention of eclipsing Modern Warfare 3 with Battlefield 3 at (seemingly) every available opportunity, Activision has taken the opposite approach and has mostly stayed mum throughout the entire thing. Why is that, you ask? Confidence, most likely. Activision doesn't need to talk smack, because at the end of the day, its game is going to speak for itself. Here are five reasons Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is looking like it will live up to expectations when it releases on November 8.

Spec Ops is Back, Now with Survival Mode
Modern Warfare 2's Spec Ops mode was ridiculously addictive, especially when playing online with a friend, so it's very good news that the popular mode is coming back after its absence from Call of Duty: Black Ops. Spec Ops, which consisted of a number of self-contained missions that steadily increased in difficulty, now has a new Survival mode, which faces you against wave after wave of enemies to fight off, Horde-style. Money is earned while playing, which you can then spend on armor, weapons, airstrikes and more. Applying this kind of gameplay to Call of Duty's signature fast-paced shooting action is incredibly good fun. Oh, and did we mention exploding attack dogs? There are exploding attack dogs! How freakin' awesome is that? Check them out in the video below.

Kill Confirmed
Kill Confirmed is one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's new multiplayer modes. It's a lot like the standard team deathmatch that we've all grown to know and love, except that you get large bonus points by picking up the dog tags of the enemies you've just decimated. Sounds like it's not that different to normal deathmatch right? Actually, Kill Confirmed adds quite a nice twist to familiar gameplay. For starters, it rewards players who like to get in close for their kills, meaning that camping out and sniping folk won't get you anywhere. Also, there's a team element, as your team can grab your tag when you're killed to deny the other team the points. You're not just out for blood - you're also fighting to defend your team.

Call of Duty Elite
Beta users have already been using the new Call of Duty Elite service for Call of Duty: Black Ops and it's safe to say that it's going to be extremely popular once it's open to the public at the launch of Modern Warfare 3. The service gives players a social community to engage with other players all over the world. Here players are able to check in-depth statistics, post about their conquests, share custom games with friends, create clans and study warfare strategies.Premium members receive added bonuses such as the ability to enter and compete in tournaments for real prizes, and receive analysis and tips from pro players. The core of the Elite experience will be offered as a free service (like Bungie.net), though Premium memberships require an annual fee, which isn't too bad considering that premium members will have full access to the bonuses mentioned above, as well as monthly DLC.

The Refined Engine
Modern Warfare 3 is still running on Infinity Ward's trusty IW Engine - now in its fifth iteration, and it's been further refined and enhanced; a decision we believe is going to pay off.

Why? Because while no one could possibly argue that DICE's Battlefield 3 - which debuted the company's new Frostbite 2 engine - doesn't look fantastic on PC, on consoles it leaves a lot to be desired. Slowdown, a maximum of 30 frames per second, clipping, glitches, rough edges and a separate texture install (for Xbox 360) meant that Battlefield 3 barely looked better than Battlefield: Bad Company 2, let alone anywhere near as good as the PC version. What do you expect when you're building an engine that's designed to showcase how excellent the PC version can look? That's great for PC owners, but that engine just far exceeds the limits of what current consoles can offer.
Modern Warfare 3 on the other hand, is going to look great across the board. By sticking with its current engine and adding a whole bunch of bells and whistles, we can be safe in the knowledge that the game will run at an incredibly silky-smooth 60 frames per second, and will look as good (or better) than its already fantastic looking predecessors.

In a recent interview with CVG, General Manager of Sledgehammer Games Glen Shofield had many good things to say about the engine. "This thing is Porsche. And what I mean by that is that it is stream-lined, everything in it is perfectly freaking clean. You can tell it's been worked on for years. It's easy to upgrade." He then said "Modern Warfare 3's levels now are so much bigger than the old ones because they go more vertically, they have a bigger footprint and on top of that, higher fidelity, more textures and a lot more detail" and "If you put Modern Warfare 2 next to Modern Warfare 3 you would see a huge difference."

The Story Will Conclude
While this is definitely not going to be the last Modern Warfare game we'll see any time soon, the main plotline that we've been following since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will finally see a conclusion, and an extremely epic one at that.Everything we've seen so far has been leading up to what is basically World War III. The United States has been invaded, and now the war has spread throughout European cities such as London and Paris. While we don't know exactly what's going to happen, what we do know is that we're going to see global destruction on the kind of epic scale that would make Team America blush. Also, expect to see the dastardly Makarov finally get his just deserts.
So there you have it! Five solid reasons why Modern Warfare 3 is going to satisfy your shooter cravings. That's just the tip of the iceberg, of course, so bring on launch day!

I don't know if there were 20 DLCs or the guy in GameStop was just BSing me O_o I don't think they are all map packs with a few maps there might be a map or two and other stuff in the DLCs.

And the guy said 20 DLCs. O_o

Like the other games, each DLC pack will contain 5 maps/items/whatever and there will be 4 DLC packs in total. This adds up to 20 maps/items/whatever the devs have planned. This was said by Robert Bowling and the Activision guys during the CoD:XP event in September. It sounds more impressive when you break it down and count each new thing, but as you have shown it leads to confusion.

Also, I really wish people would stop saying Elite is a waste of money. It's only going to be a waste of money if:

A) You get it and absolutely hate the game once you play it
B) You don't plan on buying all the DLC in the first place

Good point.

im hating do you have a legal copy or did you get it early from ... a certain store
I pre-ordered it on Steam, and that's just the pre-load... also note my location and where the stores that broke the street date are located, as well as the platform I'm on...

One of them is activision/infinityward bribing IGN.

as ususal people are hating because when battlefield came out IGN did some of the same thing for them so Did EA bribe them too. people always assume crap

Except that is true, most of that text is basically PR talk and advertising text.

Generally speaking both Kotaku and IGN have shown inflating claims and articles with the sole purpose of flamewars, and there is a good reason for that because when they do these articles these will inevitably get linked in different social groups and forums, then people will visit their site and this at the same time will increment visitors traffic, more visitor=better pricing for ad on their web site, so is mainly done to give value to their site while cheating on visits number.

If I have to go after something honest I'll go after a Destructoid/Escapist review which does analyse the games rather than creating inflating comments and reviews, present bias depending on the traffic they want to archive or ad money they were given by the companies.

What I've seen just far is the same engine from MW2 using improved models and better lighting effects(on the graphics dept.), the rest is pretty much the same with different content. I'll reserve my thoughts for tomorrow(when my copy arrive from overseas), but let it be know that reviewers from mayor sites will create reviews with inflating comments for the sole purpose of increasing visitors number, I already bought the game so they have my money and I don't care that much what reviewers will say at the end(it will hardly matter on sales and all that, but I will be interested in the Escapist/Destructoid reviews).

I watched about an hour and a half of a guy live streaming MW3 and it looks pretty good. Just watching and hearing people say that quick scoping is even easier than MW2 isn't good, but overall looks much better than MW2.

Lets Face it the COD franchise is actually a victim of there own success when you have millions of fans across the world do you really wanna risk changing the formula too too much. I guess its a educated risk on the part of the developers and producers. As for the graphics look the same that means absolutely nothing graphics do not determine the quality of a game.Look just because the feel of the gameplay is gonna be like MW2 why is that a bad thing? I think the things wrong from MW2 have been rectified and balanced out. That being said if after putting in about a good 2 weeks with MW3 in and its not fun. I will be the first to say it but to be very honest alot of people went back to MW2 for a reason they liked it. Nobody pounded batman AC for using the same engine and tactics just bascally making everything bigger and better. nobody did the same with uncharted 2 and 3 again I have been watching the haters with MW3 for about the last 7months and if you dont like that type of game fine go play another one. To be honest I was one of the guys bashing the game about 5 months ago. When your top of the hill everyone trys to pull you down. Its ok that you dont like it and to be honest IGN is not the most credible source for stuff like this but hey we dont have a long wait time anyways. Like I said earlier MW3 is going to be about having fun if I do not feel I am having fun I will be the first to write a reveiw on it and bash it but if not some of you guys are gonna need to eat crow lol

Nice write down boomee 👍

No need to bash MW3 yet, and don't believe everything IGN writes :p.

Actually they do lately, and for games of this kind graphics have become increasingly relevant, games like Crysis 2 benefit from offer better graphics and a different scheme of gameplay. After paying COD:BO I could notice that the pacing and some elements of it were padded because is all too confusing and extremely hard, I like difficulty but the lack of juxtaposition makes the game less enjoyable to play and more stressing to go through, I fear the same thing could happen to MW3(I'm also aware that BO and WaW were develop by Treyarch, but MW are no longer develop by Infinity ward, is Sledgehammer who's got that work now). COD4 and MW2 were good examples of how to make the campaign and its gameplay work, but MW2 did upgrade in a lot of areas which are necessary for a game to succeed (Graphics have been always a benchmark in COD games, but lately gameplay looks dated compared to games like Crysis 2 and of course BF3, not to mention OF: Red River among others).

Look just because the feel of the gameplay is gonna be like MW2 why is that a bad thing?

Because is obviously the same thing and it cant be justified how such thing cant be re-released as DLC (remind you that this time it comes with the COD elite thing which makes it more ludicrous), I expect from a sequel some evolution, if they are going to release at the retail price at least make it substantially different or evolve in areas which need evolving (eliminating or reducing quick scoping (or aim-bot indexes) to make the game more balanced would be nice and this is yet to be seen).

And better writing because MW2 writing wasn't particularly brilliant, COD4 was and that was almost 5 years ago.

I was sort of thinking that, it's like, if it doesn't play like MW2, then what do you want it to play like?
