It's back up.

So much for my little plan. Last time, a 44 mile stretch of 2-lane interstate was 1,000,000. This time around, it's 52,985,000 and it's only one lane. :grumpy:

Yeah, everything seems more expensive this time round. I have half the amount of streets I had at this stage last game.

I've started adding names to the first post. Tell me your nickname in game if you haven't already.

Just joined this, I'm starting my empire from a almost but not entirely insignificant town somewhere in Central Virginia. Don't think that I just chose it for no reason; I've been there several times and I love it. Watch this space.

There's a problem though: I bought a road and I want to buy the one next to it but it's not letting me. Also, no one else is showing up on the leaderboard. Can anyone help?

Are you looking for the little chunk of Halifax between your road or a different one?

The database is updated at 0 GMT (I think) so as this is the first day, there is no data to... base. :dopey:

Give it a couple of hours and it'll show up. 👍

Read the Gameplay tab. There is a new "feature" . . . . .

I also noticed that buildings on expensive streets pay more than their purchase price in rent. I found one when I started today.

You mean like this?

:D

Yeah my plan was to buy a long 1million dollar street only to find out it is 7mil. It is seriously long, over 50kms.

I have two streets worth 1mil now but thats not great...

EDIT: My income has been recieved, a total of 2.1million dollars. I have now amassed a big enough fortune to become a level 2 and have unlocked new buildings. May I ask how the leaderboard says somebody has 825million?

EDIT 2: Not fair, I bought a 1.1mil street near TB's Centennial and then I get charged 165k by a chance card.

Fifty kilometers (~31 miles) for $7,000,000 is an outstanding deal (my stretch of 44 miles I'm eying is $52,985,000). Get it.

NOW.

Cheating, obviously. I won't bother getting into specifics, but it's very easy to cheat in this game.

Edit: I now have a $50,000 house that is making me $279,000/day. Actually, I have 7, as that is all I could afford. :indiff:

Its gone down to 5 mil!!!!!! I cant afford it yet though.

If only I hadnt been charged 150+k I could buy it...

So nobody has seen the Gaming Rules addition, right after the section on Rent and before the section on Buying Streets?

Go ahead, then, buy as many streets as you want. :dopey:

Oh my god, tax? If you have 38 streets you effectively get 100% taxed and therefore earn no income? That is why you buy long roads and build on them, that way you dont get taxed.

Got the roads to work. I was looking for Wells and Squirrel Level, now I own both.

The leaderboard thing makes sense, I didn't know it was the first day!

Is it just me or is everything running really slowly? I just got payed 3.1mil and am building tonnes of buildings and I just dont get a chance card. I have never had a bonus building in the whole time I have played this.

EDIT: So now I get a chance card and it is a sabotage building, not happy but I did stop someone frorm getting 37mil in rent!

EDIT 2: Ok, I finally have a park to protect my 4mil street.

EDIT 3: Ok, current status on 14th Ave N:

Residential: 63 (Tonnes of Green houses, around 10-15 city centre cottages and 1 park).
Bonus:1

Street Value: $4,739,000
Rent Value: $4,234,000

My other streets I havent really started on:

Memorial Drive:
Street Value: $2,124,000
Rent Value: $1,048,000
Residential: 6 (I was stupid the other day and bought big buildings)
Bonus: 1 (I just unlocked a school!)

Widdop Street:
Street Value: 1,096,000
Residential: 3 (Once again some fail buildings, one of which was bought for 500k and apparently only earns 144k a day.
Bonus: 0
Rent Value: 256k (FAIL).

Oh damn, is that yours or someone elses?

Im looking at 5.5million monopoly dollars rent tomorrow. I will have to buy another long street and shove a crap load of houses on it :).

I'll give this a shot.

ItstheX is my username!

I own one street.

And am out of money. HAH

Pro tip - For your first road, buy one that is around 2,000,000 and put as many Green Houses on it as you can. Why? One, you'll likely sell the street at some point anyway, so there's no point in putting the big buildings on it. Second, and more importantly, the more buildings you place = more turns, which increases the likelihood of snagging a Chance card (preferably a good one). The next day, do the same thing. Spend 3/4 of your money on a new road and the rest on Green Houses. Sell roads as necessary to stay at or below 5 to avoid taxes.

Short version - Buy big roads and small houses. At the beginning, at least.

Alright I'm in on this thing now, names GTPNISM0SKYLINE. No clue what to do but I'm catching on.

Ok. The one street that isnt protected gets a 500k building bulldozed. Thats what I get for not thinking on the first day.

@TB I didnt do that on my first day, no wonder I am failing so miserably.

Thanks for the tips, TB. Wish i would have known that at first!

Unfortunately i think i'm going to be keeping my first road, haha. Its close to my home.. But not close enough! Some punk bought my street. Grr.

EDIT: Also, i believe that at this point in time its better for me to build the city centre cottage rather than the green house.. Seems to give a bit more money when leveraged against the green house!

I have just sold the street that got bulldozed for more than the rent I would have recieved tomorrow. I will build onto my memorial road and buy a new street tomorrow.

Any chance you could sell your 2 streets and buy Dohles Rocks Road (3,804,000)? The rent on that thing will easily make it worth the hit you'll take selling your streets. Just make sure you'll have enough to buy it before you get rid of 14th and Memorial...

2.38 for the Green House vs. 2.3866666666666666666666666666667 for the City Center (on one of my streets, anyway). That minute extra is easily offset by the extra turns you'll have.
