ps: don't bag honda's they make the best motors in the world...

Now THAT's something for another thread. Don't open that bag here, as you likely won't get any sympathy from most of us...

As for Australians thinking Bush is a 'wank', we'll some do, some don't just like in the US (or any country) can't speak for all of us. I think we should keep this thread auto related, not political.

Agreed. That would be best.

every car is different but you cannot say 'oh well that car is totally different because they were meant to do the same thing...be the best...

Strange then how the price of fuel jumped 20c almost immediately after bush declares war on iraq...

John Howard is a wank.. but so is bush in our eyes...

what's the average size in USA?

funniest of all is how people say australians have a funny accent compared to americans...anyone ever wonder why it is called ENGLISH and not AMERICAN? but hey at least USA is trying to make their own language....'Man, i feel pop for blocks'.....? understizzle what i'm sizzle'in

I love when people make unprovoked attacks on Americans.

3.1 liters, by the way, and I've never said anyone's got a funny accent. Who's making the generalizations now? Not the dumb American.

personally i hope barack obama gets in, then the rest of the world might change their opinions of USA

Yes, that we elect inexperienced men to do our bidding - isn't that the primary concern of President Bush?

I like the Aussies, quite alot actually. When I get out of the USA Aussie-land is definately in my top 3 of places I'd love to live in. Good to see mostly positive comments about my topic. :sly:

i never claimed that you said we had funny accents...yo.... i never made a claim as to who said it so who feels like a dumb american now... and what experience did georgie have?

Snr Bush says '' see son, now that's an iraqi...what do YOU do to them when you are president some day?''
Jnr Bush says " ummm i don't know"
Snr Bush says "WE @#$% EM UP, STEAL THEIR LAND RIGHTS AND PILLAGE THEIR OIL!!!''
Jnr Bush says " why dad we are the biggest country i the world, do we really need to?"
Snr Bush says "no, but it's the only way you'll get the $%%#ers back for me!!"

Having a big-block is all well and nice, but not when i gets flogged by a half-tin of rice!!!

keepin it real fo all my homeboys thas crackin up in the pen...lol...hahahaaaaaaa

and I've never said anyone's got a funny accent. Who's making the generalizations now? Not the dumb American.

Actually, I said it... And usually, I'm the nice guy. But as noted in my sentence, they (the Aussies) probably think we have a funny accent too.

You do realize that GM has pretty much ceased the production of the big-block, as most of the V8s we see these days are based on the small-block design of more than 50 years ago.

...On the whole argument, I don't see why bringing it up is really all that necessary. The amount of money you have to spend on making a Honda fast is far outweighed by the cost that it would require for a Camaro or Commodore to be fast...

But even then, why are politics and engine sizes even being discussed in a topic about Ford's Australian cars anyway? It is a good case for a mod to lock the thread up, so I suggest we tie this down, and get back to discussing these Aussie machines, these awesome, wonderful automobiles that should be sold in America on a far-greater basis.

and I [have]no idea why they wouldn't bring them over here

The current Falcon isn't engineered to be compatible for LHD.

[/Topic.]

But to throw a spanner in the works and start it up again. A quote from Motor a couple of months ago.

Motor
Well, fellas, the current president, Tom Gorman, now says the next Falcon -code-named Orion - will be built for LHD and targeted at the Middle East. Yeah, well, my little dicky bird says that Ford US has kept its Australian subsidiary out of its LHD markets because of the threat to the sales of its US-built ****boxes

yeah that sounds about right...look at how our monaro has kicked their rust bucket butts!!!!!lolololololol....maybe they should learn how to build a real car instead of whinging about not getting other countries cars....lololol hahaha

The same Monaro that pretty much failed as the GTO?

Indeed, the mighty GTO that enjoyed stellar sales here, and is totally not overshadowed by the Z06 and pretty much every other american performance car that has come out within the last 5-10 years...

What does the Monaro/GTO have to do with the Falcon, anyway, TYP-27R?

I doubt patriotic pride has anything to do with it, seeing as how half of the Fords we get these days are either Japanese or Swedish.

You know what I love? Australians have big engines in their cars and yet they pay as much for gas as Europeans. And whenever we ask Europeans why their cars are so pathetically slow, they say it's because gas is so expensive. Well then why do Australians not drive slow crap?!

Utter bollocks!

I don't know where you get your figures from but i make petrol to cost $1.20 (aussie dollars) per litre in Australia at this moment in time to £0.95 per litre for petrol in the UK (a fairly average european cost i believe). That converts to £0.48 for an Aussie litre of petrol. Almost half the price by my reckoning.

These figures are a bit out of date now:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrol_usage_and_pricing

Aussie fuel would appear to be almost as cheep as US fuel. Certainly a damn sight cheaper than Euro fuel.

the fact that motor mag said how Ford don't want the aussie cars to outsell the americcans in their own market just like the monaro...yes it may not be the biggest seller but it sure has put a dent in your american pride somewhat....i have read many posts and articles about the famed GTO, which is the basic lowest model monaro we have here, and how people like the 6.0 in america...same would probably happen if the FPV's were released there...

i have read many posts and articles about the famed GTO, which is the basic lowest model monaro we have here,

Huh? Lowest model we have here? Not only did the GTO come standard with the LS2 engine (we had to get a HSV for the LS2) but it was much cheaper than what we pay aswell. The US 05 GTO was better than any Monaro CV8.

@ TYP- Not very good at staying on topic are we? Stop talking about the Monaro/GTO and get back to the way Ford is holding out on us.

Ever notice how Ford of Australia held on to all of the old names used in the U.S.?

(Falcon, Fairlane, LTD, etc.)

viper, have you forgotten our real GTO and GTS???

What about them? They are HSV and certainly not our lowest models are you stated last post.

Ever notice how Ford of Australia held on to all of the old names used in the U.S.?

(Falcon, Fairlane, LTD, etc.)

Because our Falcons, Fairlaines etc were american factory imports, finally when Ford Australia made its own plants we made them here (similar to US models) the US ended up moving on to other models and we kept going and split paths, now it seems paths might join again.

307kW at 6000rpm. Torque has been boosted further to 550Nm at 4400rpm.
0-100kph in 4.9 seconds

Go the HSV GTS!!

umm it is on-topic if you read the post about why it is on topic....
You mean this underdeveloped sentence and lame attempt to justify your Monaro-centered anti-Detroit rants by comparing your comment to the Motor magazine quote?:

I'm just thinking that Ford US wouldn't want a car like the Falcon competing in the same segment as the Mustang. Which it almost certainly would.

Although the LWB models (Fairlane), contain the same engines, but are more tailored towards luxury, so might fit better as a replacement to the Crown Vic?

it's fuuny how you guys are actually the ones going off-topic by asking stoopid questions bout why i say things...the monaro was an example as to why the fords won't be sold in USA...full stop...

edit: yeah i can see why you've been warned

I don't really see the Falcon and Mustang meeting head-to-head. I could see the Falcon and new Pontiac G8 meeting head-to-head, which is ironic given the G8's origins. Regardless, those extra doors are enough to set it apart from the Mustang, in my opinion.

Yeah, the mustang and the Falcon are two totally different cars. I think if they wanted to sell it here, they would have to spice up the exterior abit.

Yeah, you're right. It's considerably more expensive than it is in the US, but it's a lot cheaper than in Europe. Right now we're paying $1.99-$2.05.

Don't you just love how Venezulans are paying $0.14 per gallon? I'd tolerate the corrupt Socialist president and rampant poverty just to pay that. Unless the poverty was the Audi-lover from the Auto News forum; I wouldn't tolerate him for any amount.

the monaro was an example as to why the fords won't be sold in USA...full stop...

I'm not sure if I agree. The Monaro didn't sell here because people don't like to pay north of $30k for trash. I could have free trash if I went to the trash can at the end of the hall. I don't know whether or not the Fords are trash yet, but they're probably better than the Monaro.

I almost added to the end of my post that i seriously thinking of moving to Caracas :dopey:

- unfortunately i guess that like most products from South American countries, their petrol will probably be 'cut' with something else, like water ;)

Well if you strangely believe that the Monaro was so trashy then I believe you will think the Ford is regurgitated trash.

I'm sure M5 was kidding around. The GTO was well received for it's performance, but the price was too high for what people were willing to pay for a Pontiac. No one was willing to cross-shop Pontiac with BMW.

Also, the styling was criticized as bland for a car with the GTO nametag.
