The Territory sits on the same ERA169 platform as the Falcon. The fact that it looks nearly identical to both the Escape and the Freestyle is merely a coincidence.

Yep same EA169 platform, and when you drive a Territory or check one out you see many similarity's to the Falcon, the Interior is just almost the same, it really feels like you are driving a lifted 4WD Falcon.

(Long coming Turbo model pictured above, haven't seen to many of them on the road)

When C/D drove one of the turbo models down in Australia I thought the performance it put down was kinda disappointing. I mean sure, it is a quasi-SUV with some degree of utility, so you can't expect a whole lot, but the degrade from the Falcon was surprising.

Any knowledge of what the comparison is between it and the Adventra?

BTW: Is the Adventra going to get a VE update, or will it be "replaced" by the Antara/VUE/SX3 thing?

The Adventra was a last minute thing to give Holden something to compete against the Territory with. It's just a Commodore with lifted suspension and a relatively low-tech AWD system. It's a far, far, worse product then the Territory, and probably regarded as one of the poorer Australian built Holdens of recent times.

It was replaced a couple of months ago by the 'SX3 thing', called the Holden Captiva. Apparently it's a pretty decent car (considering it's built by Daewoo), although I'm not quite sure if it's as good as the Territory.

Indeed, Adventra was a quick 4WD fix for Holden, Captiva has taken those reins.

I initially thought bad things about the Captiva because it is a Daewoo built car but after some research it seems Holden had a great deal of hands-on working with Daewoo to the produce Holden version. I haven't checked out any reviews or driven it yet, so I can't really say how it compares to the Territory.

This is my 10000th Post!

Okay, I see it now. We've got the Captiva in America as the Saturn VUE, which is the same thing over in Europe as the Vauxhall/Opel Antara. Initial previews have been pretty decent here in the US, and it is a good thing, as it's predecessor was actually a very successful model here. It is actually based on an American-designed platform warmed-over by the Europeans at Opel, and then redistributed through the various channels at GM.

...I'm interested in the Red-Line version with the 3.6L LY7 V6 and the six-speed automatic. It should make for interesting performance, and I'm sure that it will be compared to the Acura RDX quite often...
