The Formula One of motorcycle racing is about to start up a new season of racing starting April 12th at the Losail Circuit. Get the full schedule here:

Kawasaki announced they were out of MotoGP due to the economic downtown. However, I heard there could be a one-bike Kawasaki team for this season of MotoGP. Should be interesting to see if Kawasaki can hold its own this season.
 
For Kawasaki sake Melandri would need to pull up his socks after the last couple of seasons.
Hayden looks to have adapted to the Ducati well, showing equivalent pace to Stoner in T1-2 at Sepang testing.
Still the season in Moto GP always brings out a suprise or two, and Giberno could be one of those.
There is the rivalry with Rossi that will be revisited, as we recall Rossi's statement of vowing Giberno will never win another GP.

For some of the Kawasaki MotoGP fans, 2009 could be a little more blue if the lime green machines are not out on the track. :(

If Giberno does win a race, just how much rubbing-it-in will Giberno will be doing and when after the checkered flag flies will it begin?:D
 
Does anyone know if Hayate have their own website..? I've searched for a while and Marco's done a great job and placed himself 5th in final practice; it would be great to know what the team have to say!

Man... I love Nicky Hayden. Hope he recovers fully.
 
Yeah I hope Hayden is ok.. it's not looking good at the moment though. I think it's going to be like last year though, with only Stoner getting any real results out of the Ducati. Guess we'll see later on.
 
It ticks me off. Ducati, my favourites, unveiled a new carbon-frame bike, and there's absolutely no technical coverage of it. It's a new concept to high-profile motorbike racing, and nobody mentions it or analyses it.

Also, it's been moved from EuroSport to the local pay-channel, so I can't watch. :(
 
Just checked on Autosport and turns out Nicky hasn't given up yet and is going to see how he does in a warm up session.

I know what you mean about the frame, but I guess most of the attention is on the huge F1 changes. You might be interested in this though, it turns out Ducati have been testing a cast aluminium frame as well [GpWeek, check page 17].

Unlucky with the move from Eurosport, luckily for us in the U.K the BBC is good with its coverage.

Rain in the middle of Qatar - who would've thunk it? I mean, I know what it's like in the desert - when it rains, it rains bucketloads (and it rained earlier this week in the Israeli desert, too), but still.

I know what you mean about the rain, typical isn't it.. you wait for ages for a race and then something as unlikely as this happens :crazy:

As for GpWeek, yea it's one of my favourites (especially if you follow F1, MotoGp and WRC closely).

Will the race tomorrow (today in fact seeing as its 39 minutes past midnight in the UK) be televised?
 
That’s a shame, I was looking forward to some good ol’ MotoGP. :(
 
According to the motogp.com, it's on for Monday.

Finally, a real use for umbrella girls, and we get no coverage.

Interesting that in saying they consulted with all the team managers, the postponement was accepted by "a large majority."

In 250 news, This shot was on the air here of Pasini being "consoled" after his first-lap crash. Taking his temperature, or what?

was a shame yesterday to see that the race had to be cancelled.

When we raced there about 1 and half month ago, out race almost got postponed because of a sand storm, but luckily it cleared later in the night.

Looking forward for today.

For anyone in the U.K the BBC are showing the race at 18:45 on red button.. better not be another washout.

The e-mail sent from MotoGP.com said it'll be broadcast live on their site - but I wonder if it's for a price, as it usually is, or whether they'll do it for free this time, considering most TV stations have other stuff on their schedule..

It's the same storm, perhaps, that flooded the Israeli desert just two days ago. It came from the west and continued eastwards - which should be Qatar.
 
Race finished as I expected really, Stoner, then Rossi, then Lorenzo. Rossi's bike and gear looked really good, nicely cleaned up from last season... oh, and THE FLAMES!
 
It was amazing or boring, depending on the view.

Stoner stormed away at the start, but this victory seemed far from certain when Rossi started to close the gap, tenth by tenth, to less than two seconds! It seems, however, that his early battle with teammate Lorenzo cost him dear, and it looks like his tyres didn't last the distance, with the monstrous charge he led against the Ducati. Lorenzo again surprised me, like last year - not afraid to mix it up with his all-conquering teammate, even if it caused additional tyre-wear for both, and allowed Stoner to open an early gap.

The Ducati seemed so much more stable than last year: It was still shaking when Stoner pushed it, but nothing like the insane wiggles it showed last year. When Rossi put pressure on Stoner and started closing the gap, the Ducati was visibly on the limit throughout that time. The carbon chassis and amazing engine seem to work good, though - I just love the sound of that thing. And is it just me, or did the commentators mention reaching 20kRPM? :eek:

Pedrosa and Hayden did well, considering their injuries. Pedrosa managed to a beautiful save when the Suzuki touched him - on the injured leg, at that - and wasn't too slow. Dovizioso also delivered a good race with his charge against Lorenzo, but it appears that he too suffered as he "spent" his tyres during the opening laps, and fell back to 5th. The Yamahas certainly were the fastest, occupying 2rd-4th places, but Stoner was untouchable all weekend - save for the 5-6 laps of Rossi's threat.


Is it just me, or is the Ducati cursed? Nobody except for Stoner manages to get results out of it - not to mention come close to his pace. The next-best Ducati was in 8th, and while Hayden is indeed injured in 12th place, Gibernau and Canepa didn't fare much better - and last year, Melandri was hopeless in it, too. It appears to be a handful to drive, and looks like only Stoner can keep such a monster tamed between his tighs. Kallio is promising, though, and we'll have to see when Hayden recovers properly. Gibernau and Hayden are both great riders, and we'll have to see if they can come to terms with the Ducati - if not as well as Stoner, then at least to the pace of the rest of the field.
 
As has already been mentioned it was another easy Victory for Stoner on the Ducati...:sly:.

Watching the Ducatis over the years I've always wondered how anybody rides them! I remember them wiggling, wobbling, sliding, shaking, and everything else all the time, way more than anything else. Yet Stoner seems so smooth on it!
