As much as it hurts to say it, Lorenzo is the next Rossi. He is already a great talent and providing he always gets a competitive ride he'll just keep getting better. Just a shame about him being a seemingly boring person.

For me, yesterdays MotoGP race ranks right up there alongside the Laguna Seca race of last year as one of THE most exciting pieces of motorsport I have ever seen. More excitement in one lap than an entire season of F1.

Rossi = god

MotoGP has Dijon 79 twice to three times a season these days...

I Disagree there about him being boring, hes exciting, loves to dig himself a hole and take the mickey in interviews. He is the next Rossi, maybe not charisma wise, but racing wise hes a winner

Just in case you missed the Hayden/Canepa crash in the MotoGP qualifying session: [YouTube Link], skip to about 40 seconds in, luckily no-one was badly injured!
 
How unlucky was Canepa? He must have crapped himself, because Hayden pretty much came from behind him. I didn't notice in all the chaos that Hayden actually made it to 4th in the end though, that must be his best quali this year by at least a whole row

Wew ... Canepa got tangled with the bikes, lucky to avoid serious injury.

Aha, yea was pretty amazing watching him pull that one out (it was getting a bit boring, watched the pole time inch forwards hundredths at a time before that lap). It looked liked Lorenzo had the better of him for most of the session.

hope for a good exiting race tomorrow though...another great battle between Rossi and Lorenzo??...

what a race at the sachsenring!! i have to say that track is very tricky, especially 2nd sector. I raced there twice in the Geman Formula Renault 2.0 series and it was though to go through the double left hander!

Rossi well done!!!

Ha! Saying that Melandri didn't look very happy either.. But yea, another great race thanks to Vale and Lorenzo! Hope this carries on for the rest of the season =]
 
Great race again from the Yamaha riders...great stuff!!

Pedrosa whas very close,hopefully next weekend he will close the gap and fight for thr win with Rossi and Lorenze again!!...

Exciting race again, Rossi is working overtime trying to put Lorenzo in his place, there was some pretty impressive defensive riding on the last lap from Rossi.

Can't wait for Donnington now, I've been there twice to see the MotoGP, in 2003 and 2005 (and once for world SBK in 1997 ish.) A shame MotoGP is leaving there after this year, the fast, flowing corners make it ideal for bike racing.

Yeah, a 400mm lens and a DSLR would have been handy when I went, especially as I spent some of the day on the infield at the craner curves. Somehow a 4mp Kodak with a 4x optical zoom didn't really cut it...

Saying that, a canoe would also have been handy in 2005, what with the atrocious weather that year. Always worth a visit though, even if it is wet and miserable.
 
Just read this gem of info in GP Week. I don't know how much truth there is in it but it sounds interesting. I guess they're taking some inspiration from the new "moto2" class.

Production-engine future proposed for two-tier MotoGP:

DORNA has proposed a two-tier future for MotoGP,
with factory teams sticking with 800cc prototype
engines as at present, but independent privateers
using production-based 1000cc engines in full
prototype chassis.

This was confirmed by Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta,
who explained that the engines would be tuned, but
would then be restricted, if they posed any threat of
beating the factory 800s. “It’s just an idea,” he said.
“We proposed it at the GP Commission meeting at
Assen. The MSMA” (manufacturers’ association) “are
studying the idea now, but they also have another idea
they are looking at: to lease 800cc engines to teams at a
lower cost, rather than leasing whole bikes.”

The cost of a pair of lease Hondas is 1.8-million Euros
per annum, and the teams have nothing to show for
this investment when they hand the bikes back at the
end of the season. “With this idea, they would own the machines
themselves,” said Ezpeleta.

The plan is aimed at cutting costs for independent
teams, making it easier for them to find sponsorship;
and at increasing grid numbers.
At present, after the withdrawal of Sete Gibernau’s GFH team,
there are just 17 bikes on the grid. “My idea is
to have plus or minus 20 bikes,” said Ezpeleta.
The new plan could be in place in 2011, and he
expected to have a firm proposal from the MSMA by the
end of August this year.

Reaction to the plan from teams was mainly surprise.
“For Ducati, it is too soon to respond. From my
personal view, it is crazy,” said Marlboro Ducati team
director Livio Suppo. Ezpeleta told GPWeek that he had suggested to the
factories they should sell 800cc engines, “but they
don’t want that, because their engines have a lot of
technology they don’t want to share with anybody else.”

Any thoughts on the GP yesterday?

I was pleased for Dovizioso to get his first win (he is in my MCN fantasy road race team, well done son :D) but to be honest I would have been happy for any of the front three to have won. It looks like De Puniet is finally converting his obvious speed into results too, which is great for him.

Rossi was bound to fall off, as he was eulogised on the BBC show before the start :rolleyes: Still, he did brilliantly to finish fifth after that, looks like he had a great battle with JT on the final lap!

And as for Ducati... Hardly the greatest tactic in the world to gamble on tire choice with both riders, is it?
 
Tony Elias, from 8th to 1st in one lap of Donington - that's better than Senna :D

Suprised to see Rossi drop it. Was rooting for Dovizioso over the last few laps, when de Puniet was hunting him down. Surely it would've been better for at least one Ducati to come in? Daft call, and blamed on the riders.
 
Hmmm, what a race! Was gutted when rossi went down, all you could hear in our grandstand was a lot of ****ing hells and B******s, anyway, saturday made up for it when Casey Stoner crashed right in front of me at McLeans. Elias's crash was a big one, must have hurt, lorenzos was quite big aswell, felt sorry for the poor lads. Good to see the brits on the rise, Scott Redding on the podium in the 125cc and JT equaling his best motogp result and also overtaking Rossi at Foggy Esses (a terrific archeivment in itself). Well done to dovizioso on his first win, met him thursday at the Day Of Champions, Top bloke nd had time for everyone!
