A huge crash just took place in China GT that was scary enough on its own, but has since then snowballed into further drama once the series' negligence has come to light. Millroy only "walked away" because another driver pulled him out of the car unaided by marshals, which was conveniently left out from the organizers' report, and the unprofessionalism has so far prompted at least 1 driver and team to withdraw from the series.

Jeez, almost doesn’t look real. He actually clipped the concrete pretty heavily, on first watch earlier I thought it was the tyres that he hit.

When you think of streets circuits that get used so often now, this accident really shows how bad things can get. We’re really lucky we’ve seen so few of these types of accidents.

The one thing working in advantage for Street Circuits is that there is rarely such crazy elevation change. The only real comparison here is the Florsch Macau crash but yeah, cars crash in three dimensions!
 
Reminds me of the terrible Tetsuya Ota crash and fire at Fuji in 1998.
Fortunately, and with huge gratitude to Hartog, without the same horrible outcome.
Loek Hartog. Holland, and the entire world, should give thanks to the heroic efforts you displayed in the rescue of Ollie Milroy.
He deserves Holland's highest order, and the eternal thanks of the Milroy family.
Not sure if they knew each other prior to this, but I'm pretty sure they're on each other's Xmas card list from now on.

Didn't JGTC learn to then have dedicated medical and rescue teams from this? Will China GT learn the same or will their be a massive exodus?

In order for them to learn anything, they have to be willing to admit, and accept, that an incident took place.
I'm not holding my breath.

As for those that choose to hang around, the risk of being cooked to well done is on their heads.
I did hear a lot of cars continue to race by as we watched Hartog perform his SOLO rescue.
If it were my decision, I would be gone & I wouldn't be back.

Well after a big lawsuit (One that involved damning evidence of said failure thanks to its TV coverage), they sure did.

As for China GT, said exodus seems to have already begun.

This has got to be one of the biggest BTCC crashes of recent times.

At least Lewis Gilbert managed to bounce back from his Donington crash by scoring his first points and Jack Sears Trophy win at Croft last weekend.
 
One guy gets covered in dirt, the other gets lamped with a tyre. Great day all round there.
 
It was nice to see a bit of humour from Tom Ingram at today's British Touring Car Championship finale at Brands Hatch after he drew #9 in the reverse-grid draw when he was hoping for #12 to gift the retiring Tom Chilton a swansong pole.

I can't find if any further penalties were applied except it may still be an ongoing protest (according to some comments on the full race's video), but he was stripped of the win & put in last.
A post-race evaluation of the incident resulted in White being placed last in the results, with Milwaukee Region’s LoGiudice earning the win in his No. 73 After Breast Cancer Diagnosis Ford Mustang V6.
