What a dick move. 👎 I'd hate to imagine what would have happened if someone was standing behind the barrier that was bashed in, and I hope Fane gets a severe suspension. Either that or he's forced to drink Foster's for the rest of the season. :p

And what did he think he was achieving by doing that? He was on the inside line for the next corner, but instead he chose to ram both to the track barrier.

The idiot in the white car shouldn't be suspended, he should be banned from all types of motorsports, permanently.

Not to mention that he should be arrested

Damm Hun, you think he is a murderer or something, no?

But yes, that was hardly a wise move. I know Australian truck racing can be heated, but that was uncalled for in all contexts. That Fane guy can't get out of this with something less than a downright suspension from the rest of the championship.

That could've easily ended fatal, just look at the marshalls behind the barrier.
Arresting might be a bit much, but I'd revoke his license in a heartbeat.

I didn't have any audio but how did you know that he just didn't get stuck on him?

It doesn't take much for a wheel to get hung up on another one and lose control.

Because there's a gap between the two cars, it was a revenge move after 2 previous run-ins with the other driver, and you can clearly see him turn sharp right before any contact is made, after he straightened up - plus, his Godawful attempt at defending himself in the interview mentioned nothing of the sorts; if it really was that simple, he would've said so. To suggest anything else literally makes no sense.

Turning right for no clear reason other than to jam him into a wall:

Here he is making the contact, front wheels still pulling sharp right:

Nothing wrong with the initial move after he was tapped in the previous turn.

What I'm asking is how do you know that he didn't get a wheel hung up on the other car.
He obviously didn't want to take himself out of the race, so why are you making it seem like he deliberately took them both out.

He did deliberately take him out though....

It's kinda hard to shove one car into a wall without doing the same to yours...

That's the thing, if Fane let go before slamming Bruce into the wall, Bruce could just correct his line and avoid contact with the barrier. The way it happened, Bruce had nowhere to go becaue Fane pretty much forced his racing line right into the barriers.

Somehow they're planning to fish the car out and get it running again by tomorrow.

Remarkably, they have - in 3 hours!

WRC Rally Mexico: M-Sport repairs Ott Tanak's car after lake crash

Saturday, March 7th 2015, 08:04 GMT

M-Sport has repaired Ott Tanak's Ford after its crash into a lake on Friday ready for it to rejoin Rally Mexico for Saturday's stages.

The Ford Fiesta RS WRC spent almost 10 hours submerged at the bottom of a lake after Tanak went off on the Los Mexicanos stage and ended up in the water.

Only after the second running of the stage in the afternoon could work begin to retrieve the car and bring it back to service for assessment.

M-Sport changed the car's gearbox, fuel tank, turbo, cooling package, boost control valves, electronic components, brake components, front and rear suspension components plus a number of cosmetic components, repaired the engine block and drained the engine of excess water, in a process completed in three hours.

"It was a crazy challenge, but I knew the M-Sport guys would be up for it," said Tanak.

"I have massive respect for my team. This was a huge task to do, but they have worked as hard as they always do and I am so grateful to each and every one of them."

Both Tanak and co-driver Raigo Molder were able to swim to safety as the car sank, with Molder even keeping hold of his pace notes while in the water.

Team boss Malcolm Wilson said there had never been any doubt that Tanak should rejoin under Rally2 if there was any possibility of reviving the car.

"For me, it was important to get them back out on the stages and that was exactly what they wanted to do," he said.

"There was no deliberation, and that shows a real determination.

"The job that our technicians did to get the car fixed was nothing short of phenomenal.

"There were a lot of people in the service park who didn't think it could be done, but I knew that they would be more than worthy of the challenge.

"They are a true credit to this team and I am sure that their loyalty and respect for Ott and Raigo also spurred them on - the crew staying by their side until the work was complete."

With a relatively small entry for Mexico, Tanak will restart from 29th place overall, albeit 55 minutes off the lead.

They finished the rally in 22nd. I imagine the podium was either for all finishers or they got invited up specially.

Oh, is that so? Pity it wasn't a real podium finish, then. But hey, the rest of my point still stands, M-Sport did a great job with repairing a car that had just been involved in a crash and still making it to the end of the rally.

He really needs to bolt the front and back of the car together with better bolts.

And  at the commentator in the first video - "It is hard to see what went wrong there" - err the car broke in two?
