Laurens Vanthoor makes heavy contact in the BSS night race at Misano:

The engine and car are no longer one:

Both drivers are said to be ok, Vanthoor has a bit of a limp but managed to get out the car under his own power.

Can't say that Alonso's "burn" was much better; he was trying to play the "looking down on weak rivals" game, except that he forgot to take into account the terribly weak form of his own team. If anything, one can always say that Manor were responding in kind to Alonso's sad attempt of trash-talking with an equally tame burn...

Mount panorama claims Chaz Mostert again, Chaz is fine and in good spirits, a marshal also suffered injuries and was transferred to hospital and is also fine, I'm fairly sure the season is over for Chaz, absolutely odd incident in that section

He's probably out for most if not all of the 2016 season as well. The femur is going to take a while to heal.

Yeah we wont know how extensive it actually is until today at the earliest, but I think they will try keep a lid on it until the weekend is over, Inside Supercars would be the best bet for proper detailed information later next week to be honest,

Damn that was a nasty one! Hope he has a succesful recovery.

Femurs are rough! I've watched one friend brake a femur snowboarding, another one playing hockey. Both guys took about 18 months to recover. Femur is one of those injuries that is as tough mentally as it is physically to recover from, due to how debilitating the injury can be.

Another big one at Bathurst this morning.

I have a hard time not thinking that this crash was more brutal than Mostert's, to be duly honest. The outer layer of the body of Damien's car was practically destroyed, right down to the bare frame. Near the same section where Coulthard crashed a few years ago, and about as violent... Bathurst is still one treacherous track, that much can be assumed.

The body has no structural importance in these toy cars though, it looks like they're built the same way as remote control cars with the body shell stuck ontop of the standard chassis.

btw the driver has broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Ah yes, the body shell is mostly a silhouette in the grand scheme of things, since the chassis is the key component which holds all the drivetrain parts together, my mistake.

Also, a nasty crash such as Damien's could only cause some sort of injury, but hopefully it shouldn't cause any sort of serious life-threatening damage.

He's damn lucky that it wasn't worse.
As much as I love Bathurst, the track is incredibly dangerous, this and Mostert's crash also showed, that some more modern barriers and safety fences would be a good idea.
