Totally different sensation of speed at car height level. Seems so much faster as I believe it is.

Seeing this is really scary enough on its own, but its doubled when you'll be seeing these very types of machines on the track in person soon afterward.

Former NASCAR and current World of Outlaws driver Brad Sweet walked away from a simply hideous crash in which his car split in half.

For reference for those unfamiliar with sprint cars, here is what one supposed to look look like:

Unbelievably, Sweet would go on to win a race the very next night.

To all GTP'ers who have ambitions of racing in something with a tube frame, please double check your welds before entering course...

Almost forgot about this shunt.

That is pretty OMG but once you see the amateur footage your jaw actually falls off:

I'd imagine this is a repost considering it's one of the biggest OMG's I've ever seen in motorsport:

Nobody was seriously injured and even more surprisingly only 2 drivers were unable to take the restart.

When a front wheel goes toe to toe with a rear wheel the rear wheel gets forced upwards in a violent manner. It's a risk of open wheel racing and a reason I believe, even though it's exciting to watch, that Indy cars shouldn't race on ovals. Lucky recently the rears are half enclosed with the bodywork.

Yeah, so instead of the car behind launching over (although it did happen in 2012), they just submarine under like Aleshin's car did yesterday.

Both scenarios are terrible, but I think I'd take going over a car instead of ending up under the rear of one with the tire resting on my head and the heat from the engine suffocating me.

I would be so glad if IndyCar would just ditch every oval in the series, excluding Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500 of course. Oval racing with closed wheel vehicles is close enough and on the brink of mayhem close enough (just look at the pileups in NASCAR at superspeedways), but its even closer with IndyCar. If there was only one oval race a year in each IndyCar season (the Indy 500) already, we might just have Dan Wheldon still with us, and he might just be still racing. This isn't meant to bring Wheldon into this, I'm just using an example.

 love how they have the police on standby. That place is a joke.

YES I'm going to fly across the infield past unprotected people on foot in my (already damaged) race car

It's short track racing.

Guy A gets taken out by Guy B. Guy A later comes back for revenge.

Normal short track race turns into demo derby. I'm pretty certain that in the video I posted, the cop fires a taser at the one driver. Not the brightest thing to do....

I reckon that before each race they hold a draw to pick the drivers that are going to intentionally wreck each other.

Can't wait for one of these kids to kill a marshall lol... that'll give the people cheering them on something to think about
