So far, all I know of is Driven, and Days of thunder(and lol @ the F1 chase down Chicago in Driven).

What are some other good ones are out there?

You're telling me you've never seen or heard of Le Mans, the epic sem-ficitonal Steve McQueen film based on the 1970 Le Mans 24 Hours?

Truth in 24. You can download it and watch it in HD for free on iTunes.

I seen Truth in 24. I'm talking more of a story driven movie than a documentary. Still that was pretty good.

Never heard of that Steve Mcqueen movie, I'll look it up.

Le Mans is the best. This one can be cheesy at times, but overall is good, with great footage. Found the DVD for sale in a bin the other day and picked it up immediately:

You forgot Grand Prix!

Classic.

Also if you like stockcars; the Last American Hero is the Junior Johnson story -from running moonshine to running at race tracks (roots of NASCAR) :)
Stars a young Jeff Bridges 👍

Also check car enthusiast/collectable stores like Automobilia in Vancouver-they have lots of racing movie DVDs 👍

Isn't that Grand Prix with James Garner, Yves Montand, etc.?

Oops, double post, apologies :O

Nope, I think they only two good ones are Le Mans and Grand Prix.

Driven is actually about Champ Car, not F1. It's also like the worst motorsport film ever, easily the most inaccurate of the bunch.

I actually just watched Grand Prix the other day. It's an absolutely fantastic movie! I would recommend it to anyone! I've never seen Le Mans, but I plan on soon.

Also, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo.

Try googling eh!

Sheeesh, its the website's list people!

C'mon eh!

In Quebec; there was an F1 TV drama series on local French TV at one time (also on TV in France)

Of course, You also have full length (movie length) documentaries, like the one about Senna, soon to be released.

There were two of these movies, made in Italy, the English name was "Speed Fever". I've been looking for them in DVD but I guess they didn't get a release. Very good footage. Mainly 70's Formula 1.

AMAZING: Found it on Youtube, sliced in parts (and horrible quality)! wow, Niki Lauda acting, what an atrocious sight

Part 1/10

Please tell me you're joking....

I love the fast and furious movies. Nothing else brings out the bada**ness of cars than these movies. But they're not professional motorsport movies. Just action flicks.

On the documentary side, Speed Merchant is also very good. Its about the 1972 World Sports Car championship, following Vic Elford, Mario Andretti, Jacky Ickx and others....

I also quite like Eric Bana's own documentary about himself and his historic road rally car. Love the Beast.

Kind of along the same lines as Love the Beast, the documentary Shaken & Stirred is very good. The director also has a series (GT Racer, maybe?) that was airing on UKTV and Discovery HDT that's the same format (vintage racing mainly in Europe but there's at least one episode shot in Mexico).

Days of Thunder is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Sorry.

Grand Prix is a very good movie about motor racing.

Considering it's from the early 90's, it's not bad. I don't mind watching it, except for the fact they use incorrect tracks for some of the shots it's not a bad movie.

DAYS OF THUNDER is pretty much just TOP GUN with the particulars changed and Nicole Kidman in place of Kelly McGillis.

Top Gun was still an awesome movie though.

There sadly are not a lot of racing movies. Le Mans is my favorite out of the few good ones that are out there.

I've heard that Ridley Scott is looking at producing a period drama about racing drivers in the late 1950s and early 1960s, right at the point where the gentlemen racers started to be replaced by superstars. He's executive producer on The Good Wife, so if this project comes to life, it should be pretty decent.
