Is it worth a purchase early on in the game? It's great looking, but does it drive well and does it tune well? Thanks for the help.

I really enjoy it, it's not amazing on corners being a muscle car but I've been having a good time drifting. Also my B-spec driver absolutely thrashed the first beginner championship with it after failing horribly in my Mazda Miata. I did upgrade the air intake and engine though.

Just be careful, if you do a full upgrade on the Mach 1 it sounds like a high pitched vacuum cleaner. It's almost ear piercing!

Did you install a different transmission? When I installed the fully customizable tranny in my Challenger, it made a very high pitched whine as well. There are a lot of race transmissions that sound like that though.

I think it's the supercharger that makes that whining noise. I didn't have that sound on my 69 Camaro until I installed the supercharger.

I bought this too, as I agree it looks FAT!
There are a couple of nuances though, it really needs an LSD as it seems to act like a single spinner without one. I also put a sports exhuast on it to liven up the sound. I also went with the fully customisable gearbox, otherwise it tops out at 185ish km/h.

I like to drive my cars as they left the factory but these were just some of the mods I had to make, to A. use it in the Classic American race at Monza, and
B. beside the gearbox these are the basic mods that one would do to a real Mach 1.
I wish you could change the diff gearing without having to buy the custom gearbox:ouch:

I bought this car as well. Fully tuned, all parts possible and it has 817HP. Absolute beast of a car. Only problem is that it does not have a high top speed. You need to play around with the custom transmission to try to get a higher top speed. Mine topped out at 250 km/h.

I love this car! I have all the upgrades on it. First premium and first muscle car of many to come!

I agree with you on that, many more muscle cars to come. I found the Dodge Charger Super Bee 426 Hemi ‘71 in the used cars last night and purchased it! I absolutely love the '71 Mustang Mach1 (Eleanor -sorta). I purchased it last night just to take it around Laguna Seca. I enjoyed the 4 speed w/clutch on my G25, no aids, G25 set to simulation mode. I made only slight mods to the car for now, wanted to enjoy the ride and add HP as I go. I also utilize a ButtKicker so the Exhaust notes from the Dual Exhaust and 351 were just stunning. I also played with Photo Mode for the first time and got an amazing picture of the car on the track. Well its only the first picture of many and there are so many amazing cars to drive and photograph. 👍

I want to say i had a mach 1 of my own back wen i was on university, it is a great car, but it is ease to spin out in the corners. Graet to Drift as someone pointed out. I have not my gt5 yet, so i want to now if it is hard to find the mach 1, because i supose it is only abailable on the used lot. Can some one tell me about it?

You can buy it at the Ford dealership.

I have one. It is a blast to drive. I have even had it out on the track a few years back at Mosport International in Canada. The poor handling and braking in the game is very accurate but they really missed the target on the sound ...

here is a pic of my car ...

I got it and only changed to the full customizable transmission. The sound went from old Mustang to NASCAR whine. I've never put a race transmission in a muscle car in real life, but I'm doubting it would have that effect. Seems kind of an oversight for a game so obsessed with many details, but maybe that's how it really sounds?

Anyway, yeah, get it. For no other reason than its being awesomely cool.

GC - It actually got premium treatment, with a fully-rendered cockpit.

If you can wait, you win one somewhere (cant remember where - might be a license)
