UPDATE(S)
1) Hit 145k on the 6 month anniversary (March 25), that's 3k miles since bought. Now I'm at 145,9xxx.

2) Got an oil change/chassis lube. Woulda done the oil myself, but I don't have the slightest clue how to lube a chassis, and I can hear how that helped now. Had to go back in to Tires Plus today to get them to drain the extra quart they added 👎 This is why I don't like other people touching my truck.

3) Got newish tires! Picked up 4 at a junkyard, $60 dollars total for tires after returning the rims they were on for refunds. Of course in the end it was a good $250 bucks to get them mounted, 1 plugged twice, find out the spare I had before was good for nothing so had to get the 4th junkyard tire, then was all set. I've got 2 All Terrain tires on the back, 2 H/T tires on the front. All different

4) Didn't need an alignment! Which is great! What's not great? I paid $55 bucks for the guys at Tires Plus to tell me this. They hooked it up to the machine, checked the angles and said "everything is all within spec." So my old tires are what made it pull... And pull it did, I could make speedy lane changes on the interstate without touching the wheel to go right.

DJM makes "Dream Beams" which are $400, but that's still pretty pricey.

I'd be careful about putting larger tires on you truck, especially since it's an I6. I'm sure there is some math equation that someone can fill you in on to see what your limit should be.

Didn't see this before. I'll have no problems at all with bigger tires and the I6. It has more torque than the 5.0, lower in the rev range too, so if anything we should worry about the 5.0 guys with bigger tires

Now you know to only go for the chassis lube, and do the oil yourself (unless they offered both as part of a package deal). :p

Package deal. $20 + 2.22 for the 6th quart. It's only my own work on it from now on.

Now to figure out how to install a body lift... and buy one

Nice Truck. Reminds me of my '91 Ranger. I guess this truck is my Ranger's big sister!

Do you still want new rims? You could do what I did to mine. I got 4 rims off of a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 and stuck em on the Ranger. They look really cool actually!

If I had that bolt pattern, I'd be all over it. And I'd have a set of black 15x8 daytona rims for $25 bucks off a junkyard ranger. My bolt pattern is 5x5.5, not 5x4.5, so I can't take advantage of Mustang/Ranger/a lot of other rims

Picture from work yesterday too :)

Went muddin' yesterday! Tons of fun, here's the pix!

Me and Matt before hand. He just bought his Chebby last wednesday. Mine got way dirtier

But now she's confused... Engine keeps surging in OD just a little :(

My friend does that in his '95 Explorer. He goes mudding in a 2 wheel drive SUV with highway tires. He's just about ruined his suspension. But I'm not surprised, since he also thought it was cool to take his exhaust off completely to make the engine louder.

Please don't ruin your truck, for all us Ford truck owners.

I'm all for muddin', but only with the truck outfitted for it. I'm with astrodude, don't ruin your truck. :D

I know, it's pretty mild

As for destroying her, I'm just spinning tires in dirt, and there's a few puddles I hit. Tranny is back to normal, think she got some water in her, musta vented out.

I don't plan on doing it often, I don't like that feeling of looming tranny issues if I keep it up.

And, I have All Terrains on the back, not highway/car tires

i just had my rig burried in a swamp. i had water in the cab up to the pedals. whole engine bay is brown. it took me 3 hours to get the body clean. i am still finding HUGE clumps of mud and debris in my skid plates and frame rails.

all we had were camera phones out there, ill try n see if i can get those pics up

I got a second job! So now I'm looking at having enough money for mud tires by the end of summer. What do you guys suggest? I'm gonna stay with my stock wheels, and I would 31x10.50 tires, so I can still flex out and not get my fenders eaten.

So far I like the BFG M/Ts, and Pro Comps, along with Maxxis Buckshots. Any other ideas?

Preliminary decision made here is for BFG M/T KM2's :D Maybe new wheels too, but I'm not sure.

Duratracs only work for 16"+ rims -sigh-

I'm sticking with 15s for more sidewall in the 31s, never know when I'll need it, plus I like the smaller rim/tire combo better than a big wheel small tire. Are the MT/Rs available for 15s?

Random picture of sweetness :D

Why am I imagining "Bigfoot" festooned on the front of the hood and on the doors in that pic?

before you decide what tires you want post up. my buddies have run most of the popular mud tires, and i know which ones are good and which ones suck.

for a budget mud tire, check out the cooper discoverer STT I dont know if your truck will have enough power to clean them out in the thick stuff. my buddies cherokeee didnt with the 4.0 6 cylinder. but for trails, grass and daily driving, they are very hard to beat for the price.

i know they come in a 31x10.5x15

thats a good size too. tons of options in that size. I am personally goin 35x12.5x16 next on my truck. some good options there too

a lil on the pricey side but they are a top quality tire for sure

dont buy tires from summitracing because they are expensive....but heres an example of the 31x10.5x15 duratracs.

as far as a daily driver tire. these duratracs are top notch man. I have NOTHING bad to say about them. absolutley excellent tires.

I've been enjoying summer. Thursday - was on the island from 3pm-1am chasin girls with my friend, but too many youngins, so it turned into "how many 14 year olds can you scare off in a minute?" needless to say, still fun. Friday I was chillin with ronnie and this girl kayla at a pool, then left there for another pool to chill with molly. I haven't had a shirt on at all except at work for all of my summer so far! I've been in 5 pools and the gulf of mexico over the course of thursday and friday. It's freakin' sweet

And when I wasn't working, chasing girls, getting number(not plural) or chillin in pools, I had an idea for the truck! I'm still wondering, but for under $100 I can get the truck on black wheels! Opinions are appreciated, please and thanks! And regardless to whether or not I go black, I'm gonna get a polishing pad and some rubbing compound to take to the polished aluminum stockers

You should get a beauty ring for the ranger like my father did nearly half a year ago. Here is a example picture off of the internet.
Tehvicky009.jpg

I have found a website here that sells these rings.

Too much chrome, gonna pass on the ring. I wouldn't even have center caps, but I'm half OCD, the axle cap or whatever sticks out ok the front tires in the middle of the rim, and it's flat in the back. Pretty sure I did a good job trickin you guys. I only have 1 black wheel. I painted the spare and then took the pix. Gotta go get 4 stock steel wheels like the one on there for the pic and then get tires transferred over. It's gonna be sweet! And limo tint comes eventually. I have some u-joints to fix first...

Hubcaps aren't my thing... Another thing I'm thinking of is saving the black wheel idea for when I get mud tires in the next month or 2.

you are better off with a nice all terrain, maybe an aggressive all terrain. why spend the money on expensive front tires if they arent spinning???

True they won't be spinning, but if he plans on going through some thick mud then he'd want some tires that can sipe the mud, rather than pack it in the tread and lose his steering ability.

Oh, and to Mustang, do what YOU want. I never understood people asking what others think they should do (unless it's something important like best carb for the camshaft). You're the one who ends up making the final decision anyway.

I just like opinions, but even if everyone's against me, screw 'em

I want the mud tires because they look awesome. Not for the added functionality, just the look, and knowing that when I do find myself off road, I've got great tires for it all except sand.

That being said, I may be getting a set of 32x11.50 BFG A/Ts from a guy I know. They're like brand new, and come on wheels like my current ones too.

good choice. they are great street tires and look good. far from a mud tire as they pack up really quick, but sand, dirt and grass, BFG AT's are excellent
