MX GP game from Milestone.

Nice find! Why haven't I heard earlier about this game? It was announced like a month ago. Weird. Anyway, considering recent Milestone games I'm stoked for MX GP and should be a great complement to MotoGP 13 when I pick it up.

Also, estimated release date in spring 2014.
Developed by Milestone Studio, MXGP, The Official Motocross Videogame will be available in spring 2014 for PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Vita, Xbox 360® and Windows PC®.

Looking forward to seeing some gameplay footage soon. Can't remember the last time I played a Motocross game. They've been relatively poor this generation so far. At least as far as I can tell.

Edit: Some more information about the game, taken from the official website:
OFFICIAL LICENSE
60 riders, 60 bikes, 12 tracks and rules from the official MX1 and MX2 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship.

REALISM
It’s “The Game About Motocross” and this is injected in all the aspects of the game: realistic bike physics, rider motion-captured animations, dirt systems, new terrain deformation system.

BE A MOTOCROSS RIDER
Live the real life of a motocross rider with the career mode: signing contract with Official MX Teams depending on his results try to became the new champion.

TRACKS
All the tracks are completely new and loyal to the real ones: realistic illumination, 3D enviroments, fan, baloon and animated flag… show the real Motocross World!
The number of tracks (there are supposed to be 15 or more tracks/locations worldwide if I have my facts straight) and the lack of MX3 bikes are a let down. But none of which I can't live without. Bring it on, Milestone!

I hope it ends up being miles ahead of MUD. I still have and play the demo from time to time to remind me how poor it actually is.

Year old thread revival, but has anyone bought it now that it's out?
I might wait for it to get cheaper for the ps3, and buy it for my dad if he's interested.

I tried the PC demo and wasn't wowed to the point of buying it, so... No. I wasn't very good at it, though, so that's probably got something to do with it.

I've followed the game's development since last November and it looks like a great and solid first entry in the MX genre. I'd love to try it out but Milestone has been very vauge about a console demo so far. Until they do, I have no plans of buying it.

I've got it on PC. I really like it. It's much harder to go fast than other motorcross games I've played. Graphics are decent and the career mode is alright. The biggest problem I have is the collisions are kind of weird with other bikes.

The way you use the right stick to control your body and the left stick to turn is pretty good. You actually have to not only turn but lean into the turns or shift your weight forward or back to get the bike to do what you want.

I would say its worth getting if your wanting a motor cross game. It's not the greatest game ever but it might be the best motocross game I've ever played.

Didn't know there was a pc demo. Downloading it now.
Without trying it first, I would guess the controls will feel a bit similar to the control scheme of tourist trophy.

Ooh a PC demo are they still making those. :dopey:
Might give it a go have been playing a lot MX vs ATV reflex lately, so I'm curious how this game will play.

I tried the demo and then bought it on Steam, felt like it might have been a bit pricey for what it is but not disappointed so far.

To get the negatives out of the way, it's a little rough around the edges, specifically a few minor bugs and crashes to desktop. Worst of all is the online performance for me has been spotty at best, randomly kicked from games and laggy as there's no way to filter the lobbies for hosts with a decent ping to yourself. This would be less of a problem but even on the highest settings the AI simply can't compete with me (pro physics, realistic AI), I feel like the AI is almost bugged as I receive no difficulty bonus for being on realistic instead of easy for example which may mean a future patch could amend this.

On the flip-side I really enjoy riding and learning the tracks, though I don't imagine this is quite a full sim game it finds a nice midpoint similar to games like Dirt which are accessible, difficult to master and have an air of authenticity about them (things make sense!). There's something very satisfying about backing it in to a hairpin, scrubbing for the perfect landing and setting new PBs. When the online does work it can also throw up some really good bar-to-bar racing, so when it does stabilise in the future it will be even better.

Edit: I'm happy to stream some of the full game via Twitch if anyone is particularly interested, message me accordingly.

Have you played Reflex? How does it compare to that? I played Reflex a lot, but the release after that (can't remember what it's called) was terrible.

I tried the demo yesterday, but I need to play some more, because I swerved over the track like a complete drunk.
Might be that keyboard controls are simply not responsive enough.
As I said earlier I've been playing Reflex a lot lately and that game has more responsive keyboard controls.

I think it's time for me to get my PS3 controller working on my PC and give it another shot.

I've spent quite sometime with the demo now and I'm really liking it so far, far more than Reflex which I bought recently. It's not the most graphically impressive game nor is it the best MX game, but it's a solid effort and I'm enjoying it.

My only dissapointments are so far the scrub and whip animation and the little effect the Dual Stick control has. Oh well - photomode time!

Bonus, for the lulz:

Edit : More pictures added.

Have you set it to realistic controls, or something like that?
The default setting in the demo takes care of most of the body balancing.

Just downloaded the demo and gave it a try. First off, sounds are terrible. Graphics are pretty good, as are rider animations. The camera seems a bit too fixed to the bike though. It flicks back and forth a bit harshly.
I like the idea of having the brakes controlled separately, and the manual transmission. I don't have enough fingers to turn, lean, brake front or rear and change gears all at the same time though.
The whips look a little pre determined, you just lean and it does the whole motion from there. I highly doubt that anything would be harder to replicate virtually than motocross, and this seems like a solid effort. Will probably pick it up when the price drops a bit.

I had a go at the demo today and being pig headed, I mucked about with the aids options and controls. I found using R1/R2 for gearing helped a great deal with the number of fingers needed ;) (just hit X then press the control you want to assign to that function, like it was with the WRC games by them.) I had it on medium physics which meant a lot more interation by me for cornering.

Loads of fun and damn difficult, so it'll be a good challenge.

Like @Hyland found out, there are the usual screen shot capabilities, and they look pretty good too.

Yeah I tried that, but my middle fingers just can't throttle and brake
Just noticed there is no clutch button, seems a bit weird. Anyone with the full game played through the career mode yet?

Skip the medium physics. Just turn all assists off and go to pro. It's a much better game like that. You have alit more control of the bike and what it's doing.

Go with pro physics and never look back, as bevo said. Not only does it allow you to have more control over your bike, but you can and will get faster as well - but that might just be more of a personal preference.

^Sweet photo @Hyland 👍

Might have to check this one out :) Is there a console release date set?

Edit: I see it came out on the 28th of March. I'll try and pick it up in a couple of weeks!

I've been picking away at my career, but I'm doing full weekend full race distance so it's taking a while!

The AI really needs to pick up the pace though I'm walking all over them at the moment even on the highest settings and pro physics (little too easily for someone only familiar with a few supercross races on Youtube and PS1 experience ).

Highly recommend pro physics it makes for a much deeper experience. Regarding control I'm using L1-R1 shift down-up, X rear brake. I'm not finding I need the rear brake too often other than for hairpins, but seeing as you don't want to throw your body over while backing it in on the brakes (or you'll lowside) it is working well at giving all the necessary controls at once.

I will indeed - I only had time for the one go so far and that was just to tests it out. So full-bore it is then.

Really nice panorama pic by the way.

How's the rider customization in career mode? I assume it's rather basic.

In a word, yes. It allows you to pick your helmet, a display pic from a predetermined few, your number and font topped off with a small amount of colour customisation (writing and accessories). Bikes are fixed by the team your choose.

Edit: And name obviously.
