Update: So today I went around and did a bit of research. First I went to a Nissan dealer and I got to sit in a 350Z. It's a very good fit; I'm 6'1 and fit very well in the car.

everyone says they are uncomfortable and a tight fit. i just dont understand why. maybe people feel that the bucket seats wrap around them too tightly? or i suppose if you are claustrophobic you may feel trapped, but that could be said of any car.i never feel like i want to get out of my car. or that i need to get out. im always comfortable. always happy with the seat positioning. always happy where the wheel and shifter are. granted, i am shy of your height by 3 inches, but itll be a fine comfy car if you find one you like.

I was'nt saying that I didnt like the fit. I meant to say that the fit was great and I fit in the seat very well and I could tell that I wouldnt be moving side to side under hard cornering. Sorry for the misunderstanding.:dunce:
 
oh no, i know you were saying you liked the fit. i was using your experience and mine to combat a generally negative opinion.

This is entirely personal preference at work here. Put 10 people in the same exact car and you'll probably get 10 different opinions on how comfortable they are in it.

My wife did not like sitting in the Z. She was more than happy to be done with the test drive. I thought it would be tolerable for short drives, especially if they spent more money on the interior materials. But I wouldn't go on a road trip in one. My friend didn't have a problem at all with it and probably would have bought one, but ended up getting an S2000 instead. Different strokes for different folks.

I sat in both the Touring and Enthusiast models. The Touring is obviously more comfortable, but I like the Enthusiast's more supportive seats better. I dont really care too much for leather.
 
What about Audi TT's? the first generation ones should be pretty reasonably priced, depending of the engine and trim level.

Probably not worth it, the second generation is much better.

Original Audi TTs are crappy, expensive (both to insure, drive and buy) money pits unless you get the V6 (which won't be had anywhere for near $15,000), and the newer ones are way out of your reach.
 
Here is my take on the three:

The C36 would be a cool car. You'll certainly have the rarity, and while it may not stand out much, the people who care will be able to appreciate the car greatly. Keeping it running may be an issue. Mercedes (and German cars on the whole) tend to be pricey to keep operative, and I'm sure an old AMG model couldn't be much better. Maybe not the best choice if you are young and need a daily driver.

I'm guessing you are still a "kid," and I don't really see Boxters as a kid car unless daddy is the owner of some big company. But hey, if it's fun to drive and you don't have to sell body parts to keep up with insurance, it might not be the worst of ideas. It'll probably be a pretty good car to pick up chicks in too.

I've always liked G35s. My biased choice of the three. I couldn't guess how much they cost to own, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the cheapest of the three. And with a little work, you can make them look really good.

I think it's an '03 or '04.
The ONLY downside I see to the G35 is the Nissan Corporate Interior.
And the idiot who designed the front seats was on crack or dyslexic.
The controls on the Early G's is on the inner thigh bolster.
If the seats were simply reversed it would be much better.
 
I've heard G35's have a weird cluth to them. Check that out.

Bah. You can't kill the M104.. Wait.. what's that? Wiring gremlins? Oh my... I think they cured the wiring problems that the early M104s had by the time the C36 came out. I could be wrong.
 
Even still, it has to be pretty costly to keep running than, say, a Civic or something. It may be better than earlier cars, but it still won't be perfect. That's just something that you have to acknowledge before buying something from Germany. It's no small, turboed Volkswagen, but you still can't expect it to be dirt cheap to operate.
 
Well, like I've explained to people before... Just because its a VW doesn't mean its "cheap" either. You've gotta do a lot of research on the cars before you go in, which is why it took me so long to find something worthwhile. ANYTHING German is going to be expensive, and anything close to a lean towards luxury is going to be expensive (doesn't matter where it comes from).

I'd go middle of the road, personally. Which makes me wonder... What are the hyper W-Bodies going for these days?

Whoops... Too much. Would be a good, decently fast car, for a decent price.
 
Thanks everyone for the feedback!:) Hopefully I will be able to drive the C36 today and see whats thats like. That is one of the things I worry about that car; keeping it solid. If something breaks, I wont want to pay, or have the ability to pay for, a $1000 part.

The same goes with the Boxster. Of what I have driven, it is my favorite, but if I have to do anything save check the oil, it is very laborious. It would be the best chick magnet though.:sly:

I'd be a bit worried about the turbo, but it sounds like they've held that one together fairly well. Not sure you'd want to play with the fuel bill and insurance costs, but it may be fun to look into it...

...Then again, I'd go digging for a 924 just because you never see them...

That and I love VW-powered Porsches

It's not worth it. At all. 12k is too much for a car that is 21 years old. Period.

If the mileage is accurate, it's got under 2000 miles a year... Which is so low that everything rubber that matters is dried out and either about to crack or has cracked.

If the mileage is a lie, it's too high to be bothered with for 12K!
 
Alright, well thats too bad. I really like those 944s. They look like a FC RX7 but they have a real engine.:sly:

I might've sold my mom on the Boxster. I told her that they have 80 less hp than the C36, and that they would be slower and get better mileage.:)

So today I went and drove the C36 AMG. I have to say that I am VERY impressed by the way that the car drove. I was sceptical from what some of the members here have told me, but I am very impressed. The steering was nice and tight, the gas pedal was firm and the brakes were exceptional. It actually drives a lot like my Camaro. The tyres are new and so are the brake pads. The car is just exceptional. The owner told me that she was 8th on the list to recieve one of these cars, but some strings were pulled and she ended up to be 1st on the list. Therefore this is (unconfirmed by the VIN) #1 of 444 C36 AMG cars sold in America.:D

Both the boxster and the C36 are great cars. You'll have more flexibility to carry people and groceries in the C36.

Thats what I'm trying to avoid buy buying the Boxster, I dislike driving others and people driving my car.:ouch: I can get a standard trans Boxster so only my parents would know how to drive it and me.💡

If you like the C36, have you considered a C43 AMG? I know a few in my area in the 10k range. Would be cheaper where you are.

I have seen a few for good prices, but talking to others that have driven both say that the C36 is a much better car due to the smaller engine's better weight distribution.

And hell yeah I wish that they made Caymans in 97.:grumpy:

C43 is MUCH more reliable. I wouldn't touch a 6-cylinder AMG (32 and 36)... I'd be all over an 8-cylinder though (43 and 55). BTW if it is the first C36 then it's actually the very first AMG full-vehicle ever sold in the USA, since the C36 was AMG's first full vehicle... I'd be very surprised if that were true.

I was suprised as well, but the lady assured me that it was the first car. I still need to check the VIN on that, but judging by what she drives now, and the fact that her ex-husband was a collector, it makes the story much more believable.

The C43 would get even worse mileage than this car does, and I havent found one with less than 100k miles on it. I'm really stuck on the 986 right now. For the money, I cant see what would be better.
 
Don't you feel like the 986 is a tad womanly? I mean this is coming from a man driving the womanliest German car in history. But as a prospective used Porsche owner, I'm not even considering the 986 on the grounds that it's pretttttty feminine.
