My first car | slow moving project | Big update! :D

I tried to take off the rubber bumper-strip on the outside lip of my fenders (the thing thats glued on) but I could see that the old paint was coming up with it, so I just stuck it back on the car. I'll have the dealer fix that when I have them fix the rust around the inside of that right-rear wheel well.
Heat it with a hairdryer for 5 min or so, that should make it peel right off.

EDIT: I don't like taking pictures though, I never have except for when I just got the camera, which lasted maybe a week or so.

Little update. The hubcaps are off the car because they are all cracked and scratched up, and partly because I like how the steelies look better than they do.

The today, we were cleaning out the shop at school, and I found some piece of plastic off some truck, and figured why not try to make something out of it. I came home and cut it up, and ended up with a sort of lip. Its about 2 inches short on each side, but I made it and it was free so I'm proud of myself. Now I also get to go over speedbumps sideways cause it scrapes on every driveway thingy.

It looks like its coming off on the sides but it really isn't, it's just the contours of the plastic along with shadows.

And just for the heck of it, see the highest part in the pic, the little tower looking thing? I was there.

Twice.

Lets just say it's high.

nice car, and does anyone know if black rims would look good on a yellow car?
EDIT
I want one of those lips, and what did you use to adhere it?

Agreed, and yes, black rims do look good on yellow cars.

Ever seen the Spoon civic? Check GT4 if you want.

Thanks about the car though. The wheels are stock steelies, so they are crap, and the lip is made out of a peice of plastic, held on by screws. It was gonna be rivets, but I couldn't find the rivet gun.

I am so glad my car isnt FWD, not cool IMO, but your car looks awesome, even if you cant do donuts in first gear...
that seems easy enough to do then, I might have a go with finding some plastic,
thanks for the doing it first and me copying part ;)
if you wanna see MY car, it is in the Mazda zone... no replies yet :(
an i wanna repaint my rims on my car too.
another thing,
is it possible to flip your rims and put them on the other way, to have UBER l33t offset?

You mean flipping the rims so the outside is inward, and the inward is outside?

If so, I highly doubt that's possible as bolts on wheels these days usually go in a certain way for reason.

yeah, i figured it would break something, but for a day it might be cool to run like 4 inch offset, to see peoples looks :sly:
keep up the works!
next time you get an alignment, you can ask for more camber, that should be fun.
next you should put a cold air intake fabricated out of 3 inch steel pipe
i know you could do it, just be sure to coat it with rust resistor... ;)

or, you could:
adjust the front macpherson strut to lower it 1/2 inch or so... if that is possible.

The new lip looks nice mane. Now we just need to put some skip in it r step yo!?!@#^ Yea........... DROP ER IN YE OLE 2nd GEAR N' FLOOR IT!!!

I'm gonna try that tommorow just for the heck of it. If I can get them on like that, I'll make sure to post pics.

That pseudo lip actually looks pretty badass. 👍
Thanks. Not to brag, but I really do think those pics don't do it justice. From the pics it looks really crappy and "slapped together" But in real life it's actually pretty smooth except for the short sides. The good thing for me though was the fact that the plastic was already the proper shape, I just needed to cut a bunch of little brackets and peices off.

If I get some time tommorow I'll take some pics in full daylight so you guys can see it a little more clearly.

haha! I dont even have steelies *ROFLs to self*
just, uh... be careful and put the jack down slowly ;).
just wondering, how tall are you, and do you have room to heel and toe?

I'm almost exactly 6ft. For me to have space to heel toe, I have the seat more far back, but with the backrest as upright as it can get. It's uncomfortable at first, but I've gotten used to it. The only problem I have will heel-toe is that my gas pedal is far away and a lot lower than my brake. A lot of times my foot will end up falling between the pedals instead. Also, due to my crappy engine, I have to press the gas on heel-toe downshifts, not just "blip" it. Otherwise the engine doesn't rev enough.

What wheels do you have then?

they are just some off brand aluminum rims.
I am 6 feet too, and I bump the wheel every time i try to heel and toe, (thankfully not while moving O_o)
heres a pic. of my rims:

That's a pretty nice lip, actually. And it looks like it was a lip for a car in its previous life, but now it's upside down. Hmmm.

I'm surprised it fits the bottom of your bumper so well. Or is that just because the screws are holding it real tight?

The screws aren't holding it in plastic really hard, it's just that a flat surface and another flat surface go well together.

Although, that lip is no more, my and my cousin made another with the help of his boss, and the donation of a old civic bumper he had laying around. I'll get pis later. this one actually fits this time.

You should hit that bumper with a professional buffer and the juice they use. When I went to pick up my Sol after fixing the fender the bodyshop boss recommended they fix my bumper, which was scraped up like yours. The squirted some junk on the pad, fired up the buffer, and 10 seconds later, POOF. It was nearly gone and looked fantastic.

Or have you already tried that?

Why not just get an Ebay lip that will actually look like it's made to go there?

Hmm... You've had this Civic for a while, you should have "SRV2LOW4ME is "powered by DOHC VTEC"..........Me too."
in your sig also. :D

I've tried that at school, and my cousin, who works at a bodyshop, said it won't work well. Mine are actually deep scratches, that were filled in with touch up paint.

Because this one cost me a total of $0.00. My wallet is empty, and the ebay lips I've seen fit way worse than this one does now. It looks weird in the pic I took, especially at the side, but it fits perfectly, being from another civic. Plus, I'd rather not put cheap parts on my car. As long as it's free, I'll use it, but if I'm spending money on it, I'm going to buy the real thing. Sure, a lot of times that means you are paying for a brand name, but I'm willing to spend the extra bucks. Nothing completely crazy though, like buying a Spoon lip for 400 bucks when a Seibon one cost half of that for a still high quality part.

But I'm not......Although that would be awesome.

The past few days have been spent doing a minor wire tuck. They aren't running through the fenders now, just hiding some stuff in different places, but it looks a lot more cleaner anyways. The only thing left on the left side of the engine bay is the AC lines, fuse box, and battery. The battery will be moved to the trunk eventually, but I want to do it the right way with a little box for it, instead of just running some wire under my carpet and sticking the thing in the trunk.

The AC will be taken out sometime too. I don't have a belt for it, and so far I haven't had a time that I wished I had ac. That should clear up some room, considering all the components that will be removed.

As for the headers being uncovered, I'm getting the heat shield sandblasted today, and will be painted black, since it was really rusted.

The only thing bugging me is the throttle cable, which goes across both the valve cover and the strut tower, but there isn't much I can do with it, unless someone has an idea.

I went out to take pics with my friend, and here's a couple of them.

And my crumpled fender, which makes for great reflections.

VERY COOL PICS!
I really like the new lip, it fits better, very clean looking!
did you try putting the rims on flip flopped?
What do you plan to do with the grill etc?

The wheels won't go on backwards, since they have a sort of bump right around where the holes are, which doesn't let you put the wheels on because it sits against the disk brake.

The grill will eventually be changed to a Civic Type R grill. It's just empty with a black mesh inside, no emblem either. It looks really great IMO.

Thanks for the comment.
