I'm not exactly what you would call a technician, but is that good or bad?

Sorry if it's been posted before. In somewhat of a rush.

I had nat 3 before and for some games that's really bad I don't know about gt5 , I'd try changing it to nat 2 atleast it's what I got working right now and it's really good.

That is bad. For what I know, you need NAT Type 2. This means you are connected through a router.

Is your ps3 wireless?

No. I'm running on a Windstream DSL. Also, I can't change it.

NAT Type 3 means you're not connected to the internet. Your router is blocking your PS3 from connecting.

There's a giant thread on the main Playstation forums on how to fix this, basically you gotta go into your router settings and open the ports that the PS3 needs.

Step-by-step guide: http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/...change-Nat-Type-3-to-Nat-Type-2/td-p/42580697

Another guide: http://www.ps3news.com/forums/ps3-g...e-your-ps3-nat-type-3-nat-type-2-a-99013.html

Hopefully one of these helps!

I have the same issue. I have a big thread with lots of help from some good guys, but unfortuantly I still wasnt able to fix the issue. Im with Primus DSL (in ontario canada), have my Ps3 hardwired to my Dlink 655 router with Cat6 cable and still no luck.

Anyone know how this affects GT5? I have been experiencing some issues connecting to a race etc but havent really messed with GT5 online yet.

Im actually gonna try pissing around with this stupid nat issue again, maybe tonight.

Make sure you have your modem set to bridged.

I too had problems with getting my NAT Type 2,even after following the steps.Believe me i spent 3 days on this.So be sure your modem is set to Bridged or none of the info you learn will work(well for me this was the case).

The short version. Anyone with a DMZ host option should know to stick your PS3 IP in there. All problems solved.

Any way to get NAT type 1? It's probably impossible with a wireless connection, but perhaps.
