my pc shift key is stuck on

i really need help as whether im pressing the shift key or not the computer recognises that the shift key is pressed down thus im writing this on my ps3.

Just have caps lock on all the time, thus cancelling out the shift key. So when you need a capital, just "unlock" the ehhh Caps

thats not a problem the problem is everything i click on is eather highlighting or opening a new window and i cant type numbers

Well grab a screwdriver. Put the screwdriver into a lever like position and pop it off. Then you just pop it back on.

If something like a cola beverage or sweetened tea or coffee has been spilled on the keyboard, then the sugar residue has shorted out the key, or glued the contacts together. You'll need to open it up and clean it.

Yeah just tilt the keyboard 45 degrees facing down and pound it out. Then get some compressed air to help loosen some of the tough junk up. Then lastly pound the rest out.

If the key is stuck physically in then all you need to do is pop it out and back in. If not then it's not that hard to get a fully functional keyboard for 8 bucks.

If it works correctly then that means you can type caps with no problems. Use it!

There still to be some issues with your keyboard, particularly the period and comma keys don't seem to function, and your shift key still doesn't seem to function as you have 2 lower case i's in your last post. Perhaps you need to get a new keyboard, or perhaps just press them now and then... 💡

Simply turning the computer off would not be the solution to the problem. What he should do is try a different keyboard and if that does not work he can try the keyboard on his ps3.

You may have had StickyKeys turned on and there's nothing wrong with your keyboard

StickyKeys only locks the shift for the next key pressed, not a permanent lock. You can hit shift, then a, and get A. The next key will then be unshifted.

I've never used it before so didn't realise that's all it does...basically it's for people who can't press two keys at the same time?! That's useful then!

Do they exist? It cant be THAT hard... Unless its an injury or mental handicap of some sort, how can a "normal" person not press 2 buttons?

Even I can press press 2 buttons at once, I only use my index fingers though so any more than 2 keys requires special concentration
BTW I've seen South Park S14E01 now, just waiting for an opportunity to drop "there's a turd in the punch bowl" into conversation

I know mate, I should have thought about it before posting especially as my Dad's had a stroke so can't use his right arm. Sorry.
