My Solution to Online Wrechers

It could work on the number of times someone wrecks someone else, the more they wreck, the lower their rep goes, the cleaner they drive, the higher someones rep goes. In other words, a dirty driver with a low rep can only enter races with other low rep dirty drivers, and the higher rep people can have access to the races with the cleaner higher rep drivers. It wouldn't be based on number of wins but how dirty or clean a person drives.

If PD did something like that, then that would be phenomenal. 👍

Sounds good on paper but they' have to fix the penalty system first. Right now if someone rams into the back of me, half the time I get a ramming penalty. Or a shortcut penalty for being punted off the track, or even both sometimes.

Exactly my thougth when i read that.

NHL 2K8 (which has the most laggy online ever) has a system where after a game, you get to rate your opponent. That's a good system but it might be hard to remember how all 15 drivers were. The bug in this system is if 2 idiots get in the same room and race over and over again just to vote for each other.

The problem with people rating each other, is that negative votes can be
given to clean drivers just out of spite.

I think a force-based penalty system would be nice. The amount of force that one car puts on another determines the penalty. Obviously the game already calculates ramming forces, now we just need to rate them.

If two cars are going 2 wide for a corner and they're slightly bumping...no penalty. However if one of the drivers obviously merges into the other driver he puts more force on that car than normal, so contact penalty.

Honestly, Yea, need to make a few new tweaks to the ramming penalties. Tired of people pushing me out and I'm getting the penalty for it. Though I have seen some awesome vigilante's. Me and 2 others on a long straight, I was in front, guy in second, during slight turn, he pulled an obvious "P.I.T." move. Guy in 3rd saw that, sped after him and slammed him into a spin. Good times.

That would work well with the rep system I mentioned, but PD need to really work on the penalty system and get it perfect, or as near to perfect, in order to impliment it fairly.

He's not necessarily sticking up for you. I always keep my eyes on the guys in front (helps with the not crashing into them business) Anyway if I see an obvious punter* knock someone off the track up ahead it tells me I don't have to worry about things like nudging him off his line so I can usually carry a bit more welly into the corner. What you were calling vigilantism may well just be a case of opportunism.

* the keyword here is 'obvious' not all collisions are on purpose. Punters are pretty obvious in their driving style - I always make sure it is actually a punter and not just some poor sod having a hard time with the back end.

Hi Luxz Thank you for the positive mention and the excellent racing. FOB are a small - 4 strong - clan, very much looking forward to the introduction of private rooms c/w in-game chat. We use a Ventrilo server and race 3 or 4 eveneinsg a week, usally 11.00 (CET) onwards.

:)

I'll pass on the headsets, I'd rather not hear anyone laughing after they punt a group of cars pulling into a hairpin.

I think the best way to level the playing field, even though it wouldn't stop anything, people would still take the place they deserve most of the time.

A time penalty system. It would even the playing field for those of us that use proper lines and those that just launch across the grass 90% of the time. And since being a punter they are already bad drivers, they would wind up in the grass plenty.

I don't know what it is, but Forza online is so clean, always good racing, but here in GT5P, its like a free for all. Sucks that Forza isn't as visceral an experience.

Race_Fit, it is good fun to be able to chat to your fellow racers, especially before and after a race. In our very small clan there is hardly ever any in race chatter, as we are too busy trying to stay on the track! I would not be too keen on public chat environments, there are plenty of horror stories about those.

Before and after a race are fine, I'm fine with people apologizing mid race as well. The nature and mentality of a person the punts is juvenile, and I would prefer not to hear them talk at all. And it's unfair for me to have to mess around with a mute system so I don't have to hear them.

I think overall it detracts from the environment. Before and after a race I'm fine with though.

Right on Race-fit, power to the private chat lobbies.

💡

1. Three penaltys and your car would turn transparent for the rest of the race, and top speed would be limited to 80kph(could work in matchmaking)

Simple and the most effective 💡 solution IMO.. although why not just make the punter's/crasher's car dissappear completely from other player's view?

EDIT: and a Ping meter (in warhawk i only played in rooms what had less than 100ms ping, if ping goes up to more than 200 it was laggy)[/QUOTE]

Yes!

having played forza before switching sides to the PS3 i'd have to say that voice is a great thing especially if with mostly known drivers... it gives new ppl or experience ones for that matter, a chance to let everyone know that they have simply stuffed up and that something wasnt intentional. I would put all my money on the fact that even the best racers here (or anywhere) make mistakes... mistakes that at one time or another have affected someone else. Now i know myself that at the moment if i get hit... i get quite annoyed at the "punter" but if straight after i was to hear someone apologise for a mistake, the anger is gone. Voice chat is great. yes there are down sides but overall its well worth it

If I know the guy I know it wasn't intentional anyway.

thats true.... but its also easy for someone to get hit from behind and get pushed into you.... with voice he can apologise and explain the situation. now if you dont know that person you may think it was intentional

Pulling over and waiting for the guy you accidentally punted is apology enough.

I did it last night in beginner Fuji, came around the last corner on an NSX, I was in second. I trail braked into the corner tight to get the inside on him and hope the out side line he was taking would send him wide giving me acceleration advantage. He braked hard though and late apexed, seeing as I was still technically behind him because I only had about my front bumper to his rear mid wheel, we made contact. Sent him skidding and I was fine sliding past, I slowed down and let him pass me by again for the first. He send me a message saying he was shocked someone did that in beginner class.

The last few days there were decent folks out there, i play mostly after eleven o clock so that most kids are gone.

Always play Suzuka medium 700 pp in an F40, i tuned it to 688 pp wich gives me the pole. Now i get the feeling some peeps like to piss off the host by ramming him as much as they can.

So at the start i always park my car and let all 11 chaps pass and give them 10-20 sec headstart. The peeps i pass then are respectfull until u get back to place 5 then the winning eager starts to kick in (straight end blocking, ramming sideways, break testing and cutting lines).

The last lap is where the horror begins, so when i notice wankers i park again. I know this sounds stupid and all cuz it's impossible to win, however i don't care if i win.

I like nice clean races with close combat (tiny love punts included), races where all chaps finish with 0.100 of seconds. Yesterday raced with FOB? racers, pretty decent race all the way , havent seen on like that for a long time.
Hope private rooms come soon, so the good old gt4 xlink feeling comes back.

Btw did anyone of u get's a 16 player race on suzuka, here max is 12.

Just a quick thanks mate for the comment about our clan FOB we too like good racing and clean fun and your welcome to join us for more racing anytime. Ill keep an eye out for you in that F40....

ps feel free to add above its my PSN ID we can then get together ;-)

Ok, Well; we have some new ideas it seems. How about this-

Version 1

1. Make private invite only races possible.
2. Before and After race chat
3. Possibly, when you hit someone, on the top of the screen it could scroll "apologize to (name of person hit)?" and maybe press the triangle and X to send an instant apology to him or her; then explain after the race in chat.
4. Finally, some sort of ranking system based on placement. If you hit a certain number of cars or have too high of a percentage of time in the race off the track, hitting barriers, etc, your 1st place isnt worth anything to your statistics. If you are hit, you have a 10 second gap to get back onto the track, and if your punter apologizes, the timer is ignored. Maybe a meter in the corner of the screen, that can be turned off, can show you how close you are to going over a certain point.

-add and/or modify this in responses to help fine tune the system. Be sure to add v2, v3, v4 and so on and so on.

The best online racing I've ever had was on Live For Speed.

No voice chat there just lobys and a vote system for booting people who cause carnage.

Dont worry hopefully PD bring private rooms ASAP 👍

My solution for PD is to hurry up with PRIVATE ROOMS patch. I can wait for damage for 2 years!
