Boo, so I cant buy it on GT3. I guess I'll stop looking for it now.

Nope...it isn't in GT3. In fact there are no open seater le mans/sportscar prototypes in GT3.

Your closest match in GT3 is the Toyota GT1....

does anybody know why almost or all the drivers in that kind of cars are on the side..not in the middle like the f1?. and have a hole there?

whats the point?

...you know...despite how I've been researching cars for close to a decade, and I could be wrong in saying this but I can name a few reasons...

1... these cars are suposed to be based off of or losely resemble some sports car, but many prototypes today (espically the open cockpit ones) are pure race cars, they have their seats on either the left or right side becuase that's just simply how many road cars and some races cars work, plus I think it's just one of those things you don't think too much about, not to mention it's something that makes their cars a bit distinct from Formula 1 machines...

Closed cockpit prototypes are the same case, the one exception so far is the Mc Laren F1 and only becuase the designer purposely built the car to have the controls in the ccenter to resemble an F1 car hense the name Mc Laren F1.

If noting else, I think it's something to make the cars a bit more distinct and such, some may not care to small details but I don't think all prototypes or all race cars (from Touring cars to LMP's...) need to be seated at the center, I think if we did that, something would be lost...besides how F1 and a few other Formula serries had that small unique thing besides obvious reasons for why the driver is in the center.

That' just me though...I could be just alone in the theory but then again..

The 'hole' you speak of is as far as I can tell some bit of a roll bar (the metal peice, not the actuall 'hole'...), it's on F1 machines too, its just that as far as I can tell not made obvious due to some things, they need that so in case if the car flips over or winds up upside down for any reason, they wount be killed...unfornattley that's not always the case as their was an accident in 2001 with an Audi that claimed Michele Alboreto's life... But it's there usually or so I see it to prevent a death if the car was to wind up upside down...well that's how I'd figure anyway...again I could be wrong...

-sigh-...that's how I'd figure it, don't get me wrong, I like F1 like any honest fan, but I don't think LMP prototypes need to have their seat/controls at the center, just would not feel right in my opnion, maybe it's me (again with the maybe it's me...)...

Till later...

I strongly suspect that it's part of the rules as the cars have to be production models in some respect and therefore the cockpit has to mirror the real life car... or something similar... as well as the reasons given in the post above...

Not far off Yeti, Under ACO (governing body behind Le Mans) regulations relating to prototypes they must be capable of seating two people.

Article 1.8 of the LMP1 and LMP2 regulations state that

Cockpit
Internal volume of the car to accomodate the driver and the passenger.

.pdf's of the full regulations for all classes can be found here

Name the car? Why it's Gerald!
Wow, that reminded me of a Pink Floyd song by the name of 'Bike'
The song goes something like this in one part

I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house.
I don't know why. I call him Gerald.
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse.
Well, thought id share

:D Good Info from all, especially R_Riders! 👍 With the re-release of the Steve McQueen Movie "LeMans" on DVD creating a little "New" interest in my favorite cars I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth. As late as the early 1970s Not only was a second seat (No matter how "Un-Sitable") required in LeMans Racers, they also carried a SPARE TYRE, the tools necessary to change it, (Normally carried in the diminutive "Seat") & had a "Compartment" that would hold a specific "Suitcase." At scrutineering the suitcase was installed & removed or you weren't allowed to race! All this in the Porsche 917 & other similar rides!!! Know it won't likely happen but 917s both "L" & "K" being in GT4 would really "Make My Day!!!" 👍

I don't know but it's most def not in Gran Turismo 3.
I think in GT4 since they show most of the screenshots from GT4 in the left corner.

The courage was not in GT3 or GTC. It is going to be in GT4.
