I'm a NASCAR fan and have been holding off on getting into this year's disappointment. I'm renting 09 and I'm happy with it.

I plan on buying the game soon. Let the shout be heard, "OVAL RACERS UNITE!!!!"

I've played the demo and I really liked it...
Hows the tuning and do the replays still lag like hell?
^^ because these are my only concerns as for I didn't buy it yet (plus it's really expensive in Germany - with no chance of resell it as most Germans really hate NASCAR lol).

Tuning is very extensive, caters to the tuning junky, making it a veritable "deep blue sea" for the tuning noOb like me ;)

Replays are not like any GT replays, so don't have any high expectations.

Just rent it for a week. If you like it buy it. It has good Driver Challenges, the Chase for the Cup is good, there is a Season mode where you can set up your very own season. Probably the best added feature is the custom cars.

I'm not expecting it to be a GT game, but it will indeed satisfy my need to get out and race on more ovals other than Daytona for more than 3 laps ;)

For the record, I am NOT an EA fan. If were a NASCAR alternative on the PS3, I would probably go that route.

THe last NASCAR game I had was 99er edition and I played it hundreds of hours, plus I think Joe Satriani soundtrack was awesomeness. 👍
I know the replays aren't really important but in the demo it was really horrible... well I need to find it cheap somewhere ... 79 Euros are too much. ( I saw it used for 59 but cmon thats still a tough price)
 
Ah, NASCAR 09, I've been painting cars for it since I got it (you can find pretty much all of my cars here, a lot of the artists used to be at Al's, so we've got a lot of good stuff)

Me and RACECAR are setting up a PS3 league as a sister league to Midnight Racing (one of the best leagues on 360), and I'll post some info soon.

(BTW, I saw you at BigAl's and I knew I had seen that name before, lol)

Runner, how would you feel about uploading some of your car files here? It's a whole lot easier to dump an entire car file (made up of several files) onto an SD card than it is to go through the looonnngggg process of upping them through our EA Locker.

I tried it earlier and it does work. Just like saving a replay or a game save, simple.

Me personally, I'm mostly interested in anything Kyle Busch. My daughter had a spazz attack when she saw the Hannah Montana car I found for her. I lean very heavily toward JGR & Toyota. My eldest son is a Joey fanboy now that Tony is leaving (left).

I love your "Jesus/Freedom" car.

I've been a Gordon fan since the '94. I really like his Pepsi cars and the original Chrome Illusion is one I'd love to have as a die-cast.

I think it would be ideal to have it based out of here. Hopefully, we can stir up more interest.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, uploading the car file from the PS3 onto here? It may work but only PS3 users could download the cars, as Xbox (To my knowledge) can't do that. For now I'll stick with .dds files as everyone can use them.

:lol: I've got a few dodges, actually, I didn't have a good dodge template for the longest time though.

I have a few more, and any car that you see can also be turned int oa dodge or numbers changed for your liking (I've made 4 different numbers and 1 different model for that "Jesus/Freedom" car)

09 has gotten a lot of stuff right, the physics are still arcadish, and damage isn't the best (still better than 08's "touch the wall and the entire side of your car is now pudding" damage) But all in all it's a good game.

Btw, all I do is paint cars, I don't even upload them into my game, :lol:

I find the physics are quite realist on sim mode with a wheel, are you sure you're on the right physics setting? Also has anybody done a Gulf Sprint Cup car?

Going to have to rent it and try it out I guess , I have not bought a Nascar game in years , I think '01 is the last one I have gotten , since getting a PS3 , I have tried Nascar games , and have not been pleased as of yet , but the car painting deal is awesome , I am liking that.
 
The price drop really makes buying this game not as risky as paying full $60 on day one. I bought 08 last year on day one and I was really ticked off.

Runner, could you make your Jesus/Freedom car in an 18 Toyota? (posted request at MR)

Ideally, I would love to see the trio of Joe Gibbs Racing cars (18, 11, 20) that would represent his faith. Your Jesus/Freedom car could very well be the foundation for it. Not sure if I should have that along with the request, but it does pertain to the project.

I bought Nascar 09 as well. I'm a new PS3 owner so I haven't had enough time to get a good feel for 09, splitting time between that, GT5P, Burnout,and NCAA Football 08. Being able to download painted cars is definitely a top reason to own the game. I'm looking for anything MWR and found some good ones on Big Als. Wallrunner, your cars are amazing.

Also, MR now has Dobb's as an artist! He has got to be one of the best N09 artists I've seen (other than Babaganush, but it's close). So expect to see a lot of nice cars from him

How does this game work with a G25? I believe that nascar 08 was the reason my PS3 broke so many times when connected with a G25 and my warranty is about to run out.

AFAIK it works fine, I personally haven't tried it but I know someone who has, you just won't want to use 900 Degree steering.

Just tryed the demo and didn't like it one bit. Too many reasons but mostly the handling seems way far off what any car should.

Did you have it on the correct settings? (Pro mode) I found the Physics are a vast improvement over the little bit of 08 I got to play.

The custom cars are enough to want the game for, IMO, but the game is pretty solid and the best of EA's stuff since....well, since they started, :lol:

When using 900* mode, it's apparent, they did not develop the game to be used in that mode. It is nothing like GT4 or GT5P. You have to turn the wheel A TON even if the sensitivity is cranked all of the way up. 200* with 70 - 75 sensitivity is fine.

GRID is the same way, that game was not developed to make real use of 900* mode either. The cars don't turn and are very unresponsive, especially when you need them to be.
 
Have they changed the Flash to version 10 now? I dont' see the Paint Booth upload widget when I log in. I don't even see the game selection bar (Flash driven).



Wallrunner has been able to up a few cars lately. He upped his most recent on 12/8.
 
I don't think they have updated it, I have to downgrade to flash 9 to upload anything, as I did with the car on the 8th.

I'll have a new car set up for download soon, custom HMS Christmas cars.

After a few refreshes, I was able to get to that portion of the site.

They changed it slightly, but it still does not work. After you pick your persona, and it checks the data, there is a new button (CONTINUE) that needs to be pressed to finalize the upload. I've checked the game and refreshed the list many times and they are still not uploading :(

Are you switching back and forth from 10 to 9 just to upload to the locker? I don't have a problem doing that if needed.

Pinkee really likes Jeff's Christmas car you did.

Yep, I've got the installs for both on my desktop. In the "artist help" fourm at MRG, there are links to the downloads for Flash 9

And tell Pinkee I appreciate the comment. :p
 
Ok, reinstalled 10. I'll have to go back to 9 and give it a whirl later. The first day I was able to upload (after learning about downgrading to 9), I was able to upload a lot of cars. Hopefully, I'll have the same results this time around.


I just did an upload with 10 and got the "Transfer completed" message. Can't check now though.

Ok so this has been bugging me. Has anyone been able to play this over LAN Offline? NASCAR 09 has everything my buddies and I have been looking for except for the ability to plan offline in a LAN. Other than F1 and Ferrari Challenge, I have yet to find a racing game that can do this. Anybody have any ideas?

ToCA 3 can do LAN, setup is really easy. There are 3 NASCAR tracks.

GT4 can do LAN, but I have not been able to get it going in our house. The 80GB PS3's will not allow GT4 to connect, 60GB are fine. We tried the LAN with a PS2 and my PS3 and it never launched like ToCA3.

GRID can do LAN, probably just as easy as ToCA3. I personally, don't like how GRID feels with a wheel. It does not feel natural like GT5P or GT4. So, I don't play it much, if at all.

Yeah, it would be great if we could do LAN races with NASCAR 09. I think you could probably set up a private online race and invite your friends.
