Whelp jeff took a massive hit in the points. He now sits 23rd.

EDIT:Brad is now in the chase picture.

I enjoyed Kurt Busch's "Me" livery and the Talladega Nights radio chatter.

Wow, the ad for next week's race focuses on Danica. Really? I hope she will enjoy her 3 minutes on track (I'm not against her but she's so overhyped.)

I never saw the ad, so I don't know how much focus there was. She is definitely undeservedly overhyped, though.

I hope they fix the overheating issues with the new cars next year.
The overheating isn't caused by design "issues" with the cars. It's an intentional result created by NASCAR to keep the tandem driving from occurring.

Okay. I finally had a chance to see that Nationwide Big One where the #14 whacked the wall hard. That was ugly to say the least. Thanks to advances in track safety and car safety, things could have been much worse with that wreck. Besides this, I noticed Danica's post-race incident. I can't really comment as I don't really know what to make of it.

Congrats to (the Aaron's 499 winner - I know who won; just not saying). Up next- from one rough Southern race track to another- Darlington. The Lady in Black. The Track Too Tough to Tame. Whatever you call it- it's going to be one crazy Saturday night when Cup comes to Darlington. Bring on Darlington!

i enjoyed every lap of the race today. i think the racing today was better than the 500. the top line was actually able to make up ground on the bottom line, unlike in the 500

Tony Stewart trashes the race today

My opinion on this is Tony Stewart needs to work with NASCAR to improve the racing. Mark Martin said it best when he said the cars have simply outgrown Talladega and Daytona. You cant let them run 225 mph which would break up the packs but because of that the racing will be more dangerous then it is now. The tandem drafting wasnt real racing as the driver pushing couldn't win.

So what should they do? For now the plate tracks are only 4/36 races. Just deal with them when you get there or help NASCAR figure something out.

Disappointed that he thinks the fans want to see that carnage. Most fans didn't like the tandem racing because it seemed like whoever was pushing had no chance to win. They didnt like the idea of helping someone else win.

Again, Tony Stewart needs to figure out a way to fix plate racing instead of just complaining about

I enjoyed the pack racing today. I do think the overheating issue is a little much. They should figure out a better way to keep them in the pack. But all in all it was good.

I like Tony's sarcasm. Especially the figure 8 part. Or half drive one way and half drive the other. Lol. But it makes him look like a crybaby always complaining. But at least his complaints are funny.

Also glad to see Brad in victory lane and being able to pull that move on Kyle to keep him behind.

I hate to say it, but I think Keselowski is Dodge's last chance at winning a championship, atleast for a real longtime. Theres's no doubt that he's the best driver in a Dodge, and one of the best on the field.

I'm sure smoke wasn't the only one complaining. Is it wrong to say that this year's pack racing is tremendously flawed?

My solution: Keep the Daytona 500 for history sake and ditch the rest of them.

When I watch the restrictor plate tracks, I channel flip until ~20 laps to go and then I start watching. Crashes are exciting, but 90% of the time my favorite drivers are in it so I could care less if we don't have any. The best restrictor plate races are the ones where the drivers can fight it out, several lead changes a lap and not wreck. But we can't seem to do that anymore, so might as well just not go there.

Honestly I haven't been a fan of the Cup schedule for a long time now. We need more road courses, less restrictor plate races, less duplicate tracks and less cookie cutter tracks. Replace California with Rockingham for starters.

This is how I feel as well, there really is no need to go to a track more than once. I know the series was built on ovals, than again at one point the Indianapolis 500 was a part of the F1 schedule. As much as I like NASCAR they do need to advance with the times, people are starting to discover just how many great racing facilities there are in the US(Thanks to increased coverage and various racing games) and want to see racing on them. I know NASCAR has Grand-Am but that just isn't the same as 43 800HP beasts trying to maneuver around a road course.

I'd like to see NASCAR try to have a race at CoTA. I also don't like going to the same tracks twice a year. It's time for some variety.

Easiest way to fix the "overheating issue" is to prohibit the drivers from pushing.

That would defeat the purpose of Super speedways like Talledega and Daytona. Bottom end failures especially on engines that come from teams that hardly ever have a failure is quite rare. Yet it is now a NEW feature when you go to the two. Good laugh though.

I'm sure the line of questions asked were asinine to that of Tony and that is why we see a 100% full on sarcastic spew. Which he usually gives to reporters. Hell watch his fox/espn/ect interviews of that last 10 + years. He pulls this stuff all the time.

Yes, it is flawed. Fixing it is not so easy. The tandem drafting started with the COT because the bumpers align so well. And the packs dont feature as much 3 wide racing because NASCAR has given the cars alot of engine RPM and throttle response which helps them pass better. Back in the day the cars were running what, 6900 RPM which made the plate tracks momentum based which created a more consistent, larger pack with more 3 wide racing.

A true fix to get the pack racing back to where it was before the COT might not come until next year with the new car

I strongly disagree with more roadcourses, but agree with less cookie cutters. I cant name a track thats been built in the last 10-15 years thats not some sort of D shaped 1.5 mile oval. Its funny that the Europeans dont even oval race but they got some of the most unique ovals, while in America nobody can build anything other then a 1.5 mile D shaped oval?

NASCAR needs another short track less then a mile long. Bring back Rockingham, add Gateway and the Milwaukee Mile. Take a few dates from the cookie cutters

Less cookie cutters.

Agree. Personally I watch the races at the plate tracks, road courses and the short tracks such as Darlington or Bristol for example from start to finish, but I just can't do it when they're racing at the cookie cutter tracks; too boring, I just catch the last 20 or so laps.

Now I can't find the link that had the "improved" NASCAR schedule that someone had put together a while ago.

I do remember certain things from it. Pocono, Fontana and Homestead-Miami were removed. Laguna Seca replaced Fontana. Road America was put in the chase, along with another road course. All tracks except Richmond, Martinsville, Bristol, Daytona and Talladega were removed of multiple events.

It ended up being a 26 race schedule that had more tracks and more weeks off.

Why remove Homestead? IMO that has some of if not the best racing of any 1.5 mile track.

That would be an interesting end to the season. You could do the last race in Vegas, then have the awards ceremony the following weekend.

Schedule doesn't look bad, but I still wouldn't want Talladega on the list twice. Hell I would drop it all together.

I don't know if it realistically makes sense to do both Laguna Seca AND Sonoma. As for removing Pocono I think that the distance just needs to be adjusted to 400 or 300 miles. I'd want Montreal on the Cup side over Road Atlanta and why not do Sebring over Homestead?
