I see Massa / Barrichello / Kanaan in Indycar super team but thats another topic... Massa to trucks with Piquet?

I can definitely see him in Trucks or Nationwide. If Kimi, Montoya or Piquet can handle NASCAR, i'm sure he'd feel he could too.

Depends how exasperated he becomes with F1 really; if Ferrari sack him I expect his interest in continuing will waver if not immediatley, in the next season or two. Add this to the fact he's getting older, granted he's not knocking on 40 but he's hardly a Seb with 10 years of F1 left in him. NASCAR would be a nice change of pace for him I think.

No, he's 18.

So he was a fan when he was 4.

To be fair, I was born in '93 got into NASCAR in '97. Been crazy about it ever since.

But I don't accuse Dreamworks of paying off NASCAR and supplying the #48 team with circus hair either. :dopey:

Poll:
Who thinks Lewis Hamilton will end up in NASCAR?
If he does, where would he go? Would he be any good?

I dont see Hamilton ever looking for a full time ride in NASCAR for several reasons.

He's already worth 80 million and by the time he is done with F1 he will likely double or triple that. So why put up with a grueling 36 race NASCAR schedule when you have that much money in the bank and you already accomplished your life's goal of competing in and winning at the F1 level?

Jeff Gordon turned down a BAR F1 ride because he didnt want to risk his day job. Sometimes it's just smarter to keep doing something you know you are good at and guarantees you alot of money. As long as Hamilton keeps driving fast teams will continue to throw salaries at him higher then what NASCAR could offer. So I dont see Hamilton leaving a F1 career early for NASCAR unless F1 really, really ticks him off.

I can see him possibly doing a Raikkonen and tinkering with a couple of lower tier oval races and running perhaps a Cup road course or plate race. This is all well after his Grand Prix career is finished of course

Whether or not he would be a good NASCAR driver is completely up in the air. Theres no way to know how his skill set will transfer to NASCAR. Guys like Allmendinger and Stewart have made the switch while guys like Scott Speed and Sam Hornish Jr could not make the switch from openwheel.

One thing is for sure, if he ever wanted a ride in NASCAR he's got one. NASCAR would absolutely drool over the chance to get Lewis Hamilton. Mike Helton and the rest of them would do everything in their power to secure him a ride.

Kenseth leaving Roush at the end of 2012:

UPDATE: Roush Fenway Racing announced that 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will compete for the team full-time in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition beginning in 2013, while Matt Kenseth and Roush Fenway will part ways at the conclusion of the 2012 season. "Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has more than proved his abilities on the race track," said team co-owner Jack Roush. "We feel that he is not only a key piece of our team's future, but a key piece of the future of the sport. Roush Fenway is an organization with a wonderful past and present, as well as an extremely promising future, and I can't think of a better candidate than Ricky to usher in the next era of success for the team. Of course, I'd like to thank Matt Kenseth for his many years of loyal service," added Roush. "Matt has been an integral part of this organization for well over a decade, and we are extremely appreciative of his accomplishments and contributions to the team, and will always consider him a part of the Roush Fenway family."(Roush Fenway Racing)(6-26-2012)

Can't believe I didn't reply to this.

I'm calling it now, Stenhouse will be the 2013 Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year. I cannot see other full-time rookies next year giving Stenhouse much trouble. If somebody like Trevor Bayne or Austin Dillon can somehow get a full-time ride next year then they would be threats for Rookie of the Year, but I cannot picture any of those two getting a full-time ride next year.

Speaking of awards, I am not sure if Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Danica Patrick will win the Most Popular Driver Award next year. Isn't Danica supposed to run full-time in 2013?

Trevor Bayne isn't eligible for Rookie of the year as he has done more than the maximum number of races allowed during a single season to be a rookie.

That's a bit dumb.

I think that either your first full-time year should be your rookie year, or the first year you ever race should be your rookie year.

Dillon will probably be part-time. Hopefully in the #3.

No, he's 17.

So he was a fan when he was 3.
Fixed.

Been fan forever it seems like, I watched Gordon battle guys like Dale Earnhardt and Ricky Rudd back then. I miss the old Gordon when he would virtually win all the time.

His 2001 Monte Carlo will always be the most memorable car he drove to me.

A blast from the past for ICEYOU, And how long do you think I've been a Gordon fan, I started when he told JJ that's Junior Johnson not Jimmy that he didn't need to drive his Fords to win and started driving for Rick.

To touch up on this one more time

We know about Tony Stewart coming from openwheel, but Al Unser Jr did race one NASCAR race, the 1993 Daytona 500. He was the CART champion in 1990 and in 1994. And if you followed Unser Jr's IROC career you know he was good on the ovals in big cars and could have made the switch to NASCAR if he wished

NASCAR Trucks at Kentucky right now. 42 laps of 150 are complete, and James Buescher is out in front.

Good luck to all drivers and teams competing this weekend at Kentucky in Trucks, Nationwide, and Cup.

👍

And I still miss the old Blue/Yellow/Silver 48.

Honestly I didn't start paying attention to Johnson until 2004. When pulled off 8 wins that season!

You forgot Terry Labonte, even though he isn't racing full-time anymore, just the occasional start. He's still pretty good, though, with an 18th place finish at Daytona and a 29th place finish at Talladega. Had he not got spun during the Daytona 500, he could have made a run for the win.

I would never forget about him.

I found that picture on Ebay. I really wish he would have stayed at Hendrick as an adviser or something. I know he's a future Hall of Famer and all, but he needs to officially retire now he's kinda ruining his Legacy by continuing to race.

Alright, someone is going on my ignore list when I get to a real computer.

Edit: and done.

Jimmy Johnson called. He said his name is still "Jimmy Johnson". He said he'll let us know if he changes his name.

So, until then, you could just use his actual name...

So how much does Kurt Busch hate that Kenseth decided to make a career change?

That should make things a wee-bit more difficult if he plans on getting back into a premier ride.

It's spelled "Jimmie" not "Jimmy" bro.

Best part is you all keep getting annoyed into taking his bait...

Well if he's joking around he should stop.

He's like one of those annoying people who joke around so much that after you tell them a million times to stop you just feel like punching them in the face.

Ok guys, if you keep answering him or paying attention to him he will keep doing it to make you mad, think of it as an anoying sibling. just ignore him, it's not that hard!
