I am always looking forward to the rest of the season, but unless Jeff Gordon can make the chase (which is very unlikely), I might not watch a lot of the last remaining races.

Oh, and let me guess, Tony Stewart will win the championship again this year, and we will only have had 2 different champions in the last 8 seasons.

Tony is not winning it again this year. I don't think it will be Jimmie either.

How do you know that? Johnson and Stewart are always threats for the cup.

I just don't see it happening.

I can see Jimmie being a threat, but Tony will fall off and has some issues throughout the season.

I think it could come down between Brad K and Dale Jr honestly. Brad could easily do like Tony and win races, while Dale has been very strong all year. He reminds me of how Matt runs most of the time, he isn't someone you always notice running upfront and then your like where did he come from. I would prefer Dale to win just because he needs it to shut up the haters but us also good for the sport too. Brad will win one even if it's not this year, he is strong now.

Explain why, exactly. Tony Stewart has never struggled in any season that he has been in and Jimmie Johnson is on a roll. To not see any one of them win the championship would be surprising.

The chase hasn't even started yet, but my assumptions are that one of these two drivers will win the championship.

Stewart won't put up a run like he did last season, and I'd even say that I don't see any one driver dominating the chase this year with the way the season has been.

Though Stewart will not put up a run like last year, there is no doubt that he can stay consistent and win the championship. Same thing with Johnson.

I do agree with you about no one driver dominating the chase. That doesn't seem plausible in a season like this, too much competition.

Thats probably the end of him in NASCAR, at least on a top tier team. Also points to the fact he really was doing something wrong, Roger Penske runs a tight ship

Not really. It only shows that Penske doesn't want a suspended driver on his team.

So, who's going to start the Logano-to-Penske rumors here?

I don't even think anyone outside of Gibbs is interested in Logano. Hell I'm his fan and I wouldn't be interested in having him on my Cup team. This could in my opinion be a re-audition for Sam Hornish Jr. If he does well enough the rest of the season, he could be back in a full time cup ride.

I know Logano would balk at the idea, but JGR should really consider signing him to run a full season in NW, if no other Sprint Cup team can get a complete offer together for a seat. As much as he wins in the NW series, he would cruise to the title.

Allmendinger has been released by Penske.

👎

So basically, he doesn't even get a chance to redeem himself and thus becomes a laughingstock and punch line to every social conservative NASCAR fan (which is probably a lot).

He was only on a one-year deal anyway, so the likelihood that he was going to keep that ride past this season was pretty slim, especially with guys like Newman, Logano, and Vickers potentially available for next season.

I for one hope he finds out why he tested positive and makes NASCAR the laughing stock.

Don't confuse vindicating himself for proving NASCAR's test was wrong.

The Dinger might be able to find out that one of his supplements caused the positive test result, but that's just going to prove that he wasn't intentionally taking harmful drugs. Either way, the test results were still accurate. He was positive for amphetamines, whether intentional or not. He just wasn't well enough informed about the supplements he was taking before taking the test.

I'm not sure how long the whole "rehab" program lasts, but it would have been nice to see him come back this year.

Michael Shank is still interested in having AJ back in the Daytona Prototype, so he'll be racing somewhere if a NASCAR team doesn't sign him to a ride after he's cleared to compete again.

Good Riddance, I also believe Pennzoil had a hand in Penske's decision. Sponsorship is just WAY TOO important nowadays!

Oh come on, you don't just stomp on a guy's balls after shooting out his knees, that's just cruel. I hope The Almonddinner comes back next year and kicks ass

Bet Hornish replaces him full time...

I see Newman going back to Penske.

Will not win a race this season, let alone make the chase.

You guy's are the best Gordon supporters I've seen in a while! Good thing I'm a Harvick fan. phew!

I know this year has been hard to stomach, but Tony is good enough to repeat as champion. He'll be there in the end.
