No, Kyle intentionally crashed Ron Hornaday at Texas in such a way that NASCAR couldn't allow that behavior to continue so they made an example of Kyle by suspending him.

Edit: Jacques better run out of fuel.

Stupid Stenhouse. Spinning people out only works in ARCA

Apparently one does not simply attempt to bump Villeneuve. :ouch:

Unfortunately, Alex learned that the hard way.

Jacques intentionally spun the leader. Or did you not hear that he didn't even lift off when he tapped him?

Yes, but what Kyle did and what Jacques did are two different things entirely.

Jacques should have had a penalty for it though.

I think there could have been a better way to handle the Villeneuve situation besides another driver lowering himself to that level

He went into the corner too slow, I don't think there's anything else he could have done. And that situation was far from what Villeneuve did to the leader before.

A few random notes...

* So I don't forget... let me congratulate Nelson Piquet Jr. on his Trucks win at Michigan. I always figured he'd one day emerge even with his Nationwide win at Road America earlier this year. Cheers, mate!

* I saw Justin Allgaier win. But Jacques Villeneuve- justice or hard luck? Did you all see/hear that interview piece Elliott Sadler said about Jacques Villeneuve? Dude chewed him out!

* One thing I want to mention is that I know the shoe didn't cause all of the issues regarding Danica Patrick, but it's still idiotic for that one dope to throw a shoe out onto the race track. I knew Danica had some issues before the race even happened. Still- that one guy who threw the shoe on the track is a total dumb ass.

Cup at Michigan tomorrow afternoon. Good luck to all Cup drivers and teams racing tomorrow at Michigan.

I cannot help but love these Nationwide races at Montreal, they are insane. Those final restarts were quite amusing.

I loved all those extra cautions at the end, as they prevented Villeneuve from winning. Allgaier was correct to put the bumper to the 22, JV would have done the same thing.

It is ironic that Villeneuve was mad about other drivers ramming him. After his bonehead moves at Road America the last couple of years, he should keep it shut and accept it - especially as he hasn’t exactly shown any remorse for his incidents.

Tagliani just seemed to brake too late into turn 1, JV didn’t really lose much in that. JV’s pay back was too much and just typical from this wrecking driver. Maybe Danica should have punted JV into a wall for Road America, on that note…

Circuit-Giles Villeneuve always puts on great races, and another one today.

I guess I missed the first incident involving Tagliani and Villeneuve. Must have been extremely early in the race as I saw from lap 22 on.

The 30 barley bumped the 22, JV maybe lost a position or two. To then turn somebody in a wall for that was pretty pathetic. Let’s be honest, there was bumping and shoving on every restart.

No idea how Hornish finished second, I thought that 12 car was pretty much done after the contact. Just shows how wild these Montreal NNS races are.

After today's great race at Montreal, I still have no clue why the Cup cars don't race there. Then again, the Cup "babies" would find a way to make even that great circuit a snoozefest. 👎

I agree 100%

I can think of a couple of reasons why NASCAR won't bring the Cup cars to Montreal yet, but there's also room to question those reasons.

1 (Most obvious). They don't really want to remove an oval race from the schedule to add another road course race just yet. This is perhaps in large part because it's less of an immediate moneymaker, given the comparatively small number of fans that can attend a road course race.

That said, I'd argue that having at least a couple more road course races makes long-term sense, because it sure seems like these races get talked about a lot, increasing the exposure of the sport to non-fans ("Hey, look at SportsCenter! These guys don't just drive in circles! And this mayhem is kind of fun to watch!"). It may also help to nebulously improve the overall "quality" of the series, breaking up some of the oval monotony and broadening the range of skills a driver needs to be successful. Among the kind of NASCAR fan who visits nascar.com, there's overwhelming support (over 75% if I remember a poll on the site correctly) for adding more road course races.

I suppose the counterargument to this is that the kind of fan who doesn't go online and vote in a poll like this is probably one who hates having road course races in NASCAR. And even if a pretty large majority of fans want to see more races, I figure that NASCAR calculates that the number of fans they gain or retain by diversifying the track selection is smaller than the number they'd lose. In other words, even if they're the majority, most people who want to see more road courses will nevertheless keep watching, but the minority who hates them might object much more strongly and stop watching altogether. This may or may not be correct reasoning on NASCAR's part.

2. They don't seem to want to let their flagship series leave the country, at least not for a race that matters. I imagine that this is because they're worried about offending their traditional core of fans, the sort who want the series to remain as purely American as possible.

Here, too, it's possible to raise an objection - that there are quite a few people outside of the US who could become stock car racing fans, and that racing internationally would significantly improve NASCAR's image among the rest of the general public. Plus, the group of Southern hicks who would stop watching NASCAR because it became too international is probably pretty small at this point. But it's awfully hard to know, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

So, I think bringing the Cup series to Montreal really would be risky, and NASCAR isn't an organization that likes to take a lot of risks. But the potential rewards are also quite large. I just don't think we know enough about fan loyalty to say with certainty to say that they're making a bad decision. Would I like to see the Cup series race outside the country more often? Yes, absolutely. Would I like to see more road course races? Unquestionably. But I can't speak for the silent majority of fans.

Congratulations, by the way, to Piquet. I'm really happy to see him get a Truck win, because from everything I know, he's an extremely classy racer. He deserves for a bit of good luck to come his way. And I enjoy seeing foreign-born drivers have success in NASCAR.

Wow I feel absolutely gutted for Mark Martin. Had the car to beat and got taken out. That was one hell of a close call. That looked scary, if that was a foot closer to the front that would have been a real nasty scenario.

If there's a way for a driver to get unlucky, it will eventually happen to Martin.

...and there goes Regan Smith into the wall, thanks to Ambrose. :ouch:

Thanks Ambrose. :grumpy:

Figures I switch to the race for the first time today, in time to see my guy taken out. Really no reason to watch now...

Jason, next time you're tempted to watch, don't. You're just going to jinx Smith.

Logano and JPM touch. Hmmm. More action at Michigan than usual.

...and Jeff Gordon's bad luck continues. Lost a cylinder.
