The result was a boring race. Drivers were content in just logging laps, nobody wanted to race too hard as the chances of causing a wreck thanks to all the variables was too high. It was a poor race, drivers routinely left as much as half a car length between the bumper of their cars and others, everyone feared crashing so they stopped racing.

Hate to break it to you....but that's what they always do in the middle of the race.

Well, NASCAR reached a new low.

Some states dont allow drivers to text or use cell phones while driving, yet NASCAR is fine with smart phones in it's cars? What does that say about safety?

Quick, name me a professional sporting league that allows it's players to use phones of any kind during an event.

Kimi Raikkonen was heavily criticized for eating ice cream during a weather delay during the Malaysian Grand Prix. The fans liked it, like how they like Keselowski's tweets, but most managers looked down on it as unprofessional and cited a lack of institutional control at Ferrari. Now imagine their reactions if Raikkonen was tweeting while sitting in the car.

I understand NASCAR wants to put on a show and be entertaining. But you must not cheapen or defame the sport and experience by allowing behavior like this to take place. Allowing drivers to take each other out on track without penalty was just the start, now this?

There is only so much I can take. When NASCAR crosses the line from sport/entertainment to pure entertainment, I'm done.

We already have the No Fun League, tyvm.

He never once used his phone while driving. Only during the red flag and after his crash to tell everyone he was fine. Hardly anything wrong with that.

Whats so bad about having a smartphone in your car? Obviously you'd have to be totally out to lunch to use it when you're going around the track..

btw last time I check its the Sprint Cup
With the stupid ammount of money these companies are putting into sponsorship its quite obvious that its not a random headline. Money rule the world when you think about it.

In case anyone missed the race, its airing again right now on Speed

Wow. I think that puts JJ at negative 23 points...

Edit: And Jeff Gordon docked points. :odd:
He is listed as owner, so he loses owner points.

What's peculiar was that both parties seemed to downplay the significance of the initial infraction. What changed or were one of them lying?

Personally, I find the penalties BS as the C-posts were found before any on-track activities, therefore never had a chance to actually cause infringement.
Yes, but I believe teams have been penalized in the past for unapproved parts in the past, even if the car never hits the track, especially at Daytona. If anything, NASCAR's being consistent.

Did I just say that?

25 points under the new point system is a lot. Would t be surprised if they appeal based purely On the harshness of the penalty.

The car hadn't been on track, but was sitting in the line heading to the tech inspection. They had every intention of putting an illegally modified car on track, but were just caught beforehand.

GTPorsche
They are already starting the appeals process.

I don't see them winning the appeal.

Neither do I, but they're probably just looking for a different penalty. More money for less points or a reduced suspension possibly.

Plus, I don't think Chad's suspension starts until the appeal is officially denied.

Jeff was docked owner points.

Personally, I find the penalties BS as the C-posts were found before any on-track activities, therefore never had a chance to actually cause infringement.

Edit: Tree'd

Meh it's just owner points. Atleast it won't affect him towards the championship. But anyway, Good Riddance! Johnson has his team deserved that and getting wrecked early in the 500!

I see everything this can lead to or go wrong I see 100 things this can lead to or go wrong.

That is my blessing and curse.

:dopey:

Crazy Daytona just got to watch all 3 Races Truck , NNS an Cup .

Glad everyone came though unscathed .

Matt did the second best Burn out at the 500 after JPM .

In 3 classes 90 out of 122 cars got banged up in one way or another .

If Jimmie Johnson an the Team had skipped Daytona altogether they'd be in a better points situation than they are now :dunce:

All in all a great start to the 2012 Crashcar Season
