Interesting link I found here.

He (or she?) hit it right on the spot! This race was a fan-building event just like the 1979 race. I laughed at my local newspaper that decree'd that it was "one to forget". Are you kidding me?!?! This is a Daytona 500 I'll remember for the rest of my life! This is a Daytona 500 I'll talk about every time I watch a Daytona 500.

It might change the sport forever, too. More Monday night racing? It seems likely.

They should wear Volcano Suits.

Nothing to do with safety, just would look awesome.

I just realized (thanks to Tony Stewart) that they tore down the Goodyear bridge at Phoenix... I'm pissed now! That thing was awesome and added a lot of character to the track!

Also, Phoenix is eating cars up right now! Truex, Newman, Mcdowell and Gaughan as well as Nationwide's Buescher have all spent time in the wall during practice.

Apparently the 32 has bought the owner points from the 6 car. Where is the outrage?

Oh, dear... this was not a good choice of words for Knaus, referring to the penalties from Daytona.

Judging from Hendrick's comments, that was the car they had run at Talladega when Chad told Jimmie to wreck the back of the car if he had won the race. I guess Chad's recent comment is that he didn't expect NASCAR to catch it after they hadn't caught it at previous events on their car.

Is all this hatred towards the 48 team really necessary?

No hatred is justified. Jennifer Jo on the bubble. Can you believe that 70 year-old Morgan? OMG.

I don't think a team, from the people at the shop to Jimmy on race day, being extremely talented is a reason to hate a driver.

So if you're the best 5 times in a row, you're accused of ruining the sport? I thought that meant you were the best... Is it his responsibility to lose once in a while to make it seem like the other guys have a chance?

2, 24, 48.

So I don't forget.

Edit: Whoops wrong thread.

Mike Bliss demonstrating the finer points of counter-steering just now. Great save. Cassill's doing quite well.

Both, King Petty, and the Intimidator, would disagree that 5 Championship wins is enough. From a spectator viewpoint it can be boring. Gordon went through this and in fact has commented that he misses the 'Boo!'s. Vettel has the same problem.
JJ, though, is wading through some major doo-doo . . ..

Phoenix is slicker than expected - and the mod on the dog-leg is making the drivers push it. Then the wall-magnets start sucking them in - centrifugal force, maybe.

Mark on the pole. Tony couldn't smoke him.

You guy's think Penske will use their own engine development program or utilize Roush Yates technology once they switch to ford?

ESPN and it's bias towards the front pack...

I'm pretty sure KBM gets some of their equipment from JGR.

Nope. Nothing in that shop comes from Gibbs. Cars are built in house and the engines come from Triad.
