They just explained on SPEED that the damage to Danica's car prevented the team from removing her "favorite seat" from it. I'm guessing that's where the bruise on the elbow came from.

My guess is she hit that wall at about 170-180 mph. The air getting under the car as it slid toward the wall lifted it just enough that the tires could barely scrub off any speed.

Good analysis, R1600.....: generally taken around the pits that she was doing just over 8000 revs when she hit - which is around that speed. Taking her arms off the wheel just before impact was a trained response, and probably saved her from broken wrists. Did 5 practise laps just now, in the 'plan B' car, though she wasn't able to recover her favourite seat from the other car: as far as I know, Danica is fussy about her personal stuff - seat, helmet, earphone, etc. Not sure how that left foot will affect her performance.

Not a lot of action at the track right now - just a handful at practise on the track - though the drivers seem to be practising pit-lane in and outs more than anything! Might have something to do with the new EFI? (No confirmation.)
If anything, the main trend is all about the water-temp/water pressure stats.

I want to punch that guy from Car Warrors(horrible show btw).:yuck:

Keselowski's twitter truck is strangely awesome.

That crash had me worried. The car wasn't slowing, massive amount of energy being tossed at a wall.
Thankful for the safer barriers. IMHO all the walls that face the track should be the energy absorbing type.

Again, I blame NASCAR's rule changes. I've never seen a car fly off like that and pretty much not brake at all.
My guess is the new aerodynamics package.

Same. Seriously, why is this crap even on Speed?

i was watching racebuddy and had danica's in car cam on as she hit the wall. man was that a hard hit

Gotta feel bad for Kenny Wallace! smh
Yeah. Shame that Danica still gets to race because of some points deal but someone with as much heart as Kenny gets knocked out. :indiff: I know heart alone is too much of a novel aspect to let people in on, but still.
He's a gentleman of NASCAR. Among the Kyle Busches and Tony Stewarts, that's a nice thing to come across.

He's like Tony Stewart, coming up from pretty much nothing, but he's much more of a country gentleman.
Tony Stewart's more like a gung-ho cowboy.

I'm fine with a car competition like that. But what I don't like is how they try and make it seem like a drama.

Also, I don't like how it's changing the judging format from three to just.. one guy.

I'd rather SPEED filled their time slots with racing or racing related programming. I realize they have a huge commitment to NASCAR, but I wish other series got more than just hour long highlight races during the offseasons.

Well it could have lifted all the way and went over. The way she was forced down there I think was perfect enough to give her some angle but keep the same speed pretty much.

they gotta fill up the programming slots with something :dopey:

More racing? :indiff:

And what's with all the double posts guys?

RPM has a Nationwide team apparently.:odd:

Danica Time!!!
Danica, Danica, Danica.

Edit: Did I mention Danica is qualifying?

Edit 2: Danica is on the pole!!!

(That sounds wrong)

SPEED is one of the few channels that is completely dedicated to cars. Not just racing, but cars overall. It's a gearhead channel, not really a racing channel.

Though I hate how they turn even their DIY shows to an advertisement for stuff like ZMax and stuff.

I'm used to a forum that automerges double-posts. My bad. :nervous:

That sadly is what all the DIY car shows have become, I used to watch Spike's Powerblock every week but hate that it's become just a product showcase. I haven't seen it awhile but the few episodes I have seen "Gearz" seems to still be decent.

On an on-topic note, feels really weird seeing a black #3 car on the track.:nervous:

I think I remember Childress saying that he won't use the #3 car in the Cup series ever again. So if and when Austin Dillon gets to the Cup series, he'll have a different number.

Austin ran the #98 in a Cup race last season.

That was due to a joint deal with CURB I believe. If Austin gets into Cup he'll very likely either replace Burton or be in the #33.

Yep, put together just for Micheal Annett.

Is it wrong that I kinda wanted that to happen?

So.. Danica's supposed to be in Sprint Cup to be "learning".
So why are they putting her in some of the biggest races on the calendar? Wouldn't it make sense to start small and work your way up?

:/ Danica's definitely just been turned into an advertisement for the Sprint Cup.
Sort of cheapens it for the other drivers when they go out of their way to ensure she has a ride for the Daytona 500.

I understand it's for the good of the sport, but damn.

Technically, Danica was already an advertisment before, it just so happens all that attention is now in NASCAR's favor.

I personally would rather see Danica in the race as at least she has a chance at being competitive compared to those who missed the race.
