No, they don't. Gibbs and MWR both get engines from TRD. Gibbs then fine-tunes the engines for their own cars. They might have some form of a technical alliance or data-sharing program, but MWR is definitely building their own cars.

JGR's engine department merged with TRD, to provide better engines and chassis for Toyota racing teams.

Fixed. The engine blowouts of the Gibbs cars were the primery reason this merger took place.

Hell yeah, I remember that crap too...Those poor toyota's, what caused them to blow up so much though? Was it too much power?

JGR's engine department merged with TRD, to provide better engines and chassis for Toyota racing teams.

JGR did it because they couldn't stop blowing their own engines, and they needed the reliability that TRD engines would provide. The other Toyota teams were getting more reliability, at the cost of not having as much power.

Also, they didn't merge shops. TRD produces all Toyota engines in California. JGR maintains their engine shop in North Carolina, where they fine-tune the TRD engines after they have received them from Toyota.

No where does any involvement from JGR's engine shop benefit any other Toyota team outside of JGR, not in engines or chassis.

That article says exactly what I just posted. JD Gibbs is hoping that this partnership will benefit his team. The JGR guys will continue to work in NC improving the engines after they get them from TRD, combining their own power with TRD's reliability.

Nowhere in that article does it say that JGR is going to be providing TRD with more power for other teams' engines.

If TRD was producing engines 100% to the liking of JGR, why would they still be tweaking them after getting them? They might all receive the same engines from TRD, and they might have more power than the TRD engines of last year, but there is no way that MWR's TRD engines and JGR's TRD engines are still 100% the same by the time they are put on the race track.

All MWR is doing with that article is getting people excited about Toyota racing. Sure they might benefit from this technical alliance, but it wont be because MWR is working with JGR, rather they're both working with TRD separately.

Also, MWR made a very good business of building their cars for other Toyota teams. Just last year they were involved with building the #13 GEICO Toyota (which is now a Ford for 2012) as well as the JTG Daugherty #47. Basically any car that has/had chrome wheels was made by MWR.

I really didn't think that the bristol race was all that bad...

To me, Bristol has completely lost its merit as a classic short track and was transformed into a bowl-shaped cookie cutter in 2007. 👎 After a 500 lap race at Bristol, the cars should not look like they've been cruising down the interstate at 65 mph, but like they've been in a bullring for 3 hours.
 
Why not make it asphalt again. That way it'll be more weather sensitive and have less grip.
 
Needs to be a high banked version of Martinsville.

Good analogy. There is a massive sense of anticipation before Martinsville races now, definitely the new Bristol. Very exciting racing at Martinsville recently.

I would like to easy the track widened up a little bit as the SAFER barriers are definitely not helping the side by side action on exiting turn 2 and 4. Unlikely though.

When Bristol goes from the toughest ticket in motorsports to half empty stands...

it's obvious the change was wrong

The racing is not "short track"

You can pass a guy without getting anywhere near him.

We can watch the 1.5 mile tracks or the 2 mile tracks to see guys run different lines and carry the same speed

At short tracks we want to see tight bumper to bumper traffic on a one groove racetrack.

And yes, more cautions are a good thing. It bunches the filed up and gives fun restarts.

Pitting under green at Bristol? That should never, ever happen.

The races at Bristol resemble a speedway race, not a short track race...for that very reason the change was bad.
 
They're going to announce what they officially plan on doing in the next couple weeks, then construction takes place between now and will be finished in August before the 2nd race there.

this prooves it, most do watch nascar for the crashes. I had been quite happy at how this "new" bristol had been working where people could actually race and not have to push their way forward.
 
You might remember "NASCAR: How bad have you got it?". Well, I think I myself finally have proof of how bad I've got it. So I'm looking at the Nationwide race from Vegas I DVR'd when I got the idea of beating the fastest times in the pits with that new pitstop game on my smartphone.
